The article presents the criteria of an individual's cognitive readiness for further education. It is known that Russia has a system of continuing education, and ensuring continuity between the stages is one of the key tasks. It is also known that the concept of “lifelong learning" is popular in the modern world. But it is obvious that for a particular individual, the implementation of this concept is possible only if he is ready to learn at a further stage (subsequent stage). Insufficient development of models and methods for the diagnosis of an individual's readiness for further education hinders the improvement of the system of continuing education, ensuring continuity between its stages. When identifying the criteria of cognitive readiness, the authors took into account that competencies and personal and professional qualities include not only relevant knowledge and skills, but also personal experience of the relevant activity. The theoretical significance of the results of this study is that they can be the basis for further scientific understanding of the problem of becoming a competitive personality in the system of continuing education, the practical significance is that they can be used in systems of psychological and pedagogical monitoring (monitoring of personal and professional development). Research methods: analysis of scientific literature and advanced pedagogical experience, modeling, methods of quantification, method of expert assessments, methods of mathematical statistics, methods of set theory, methods of linear algebra, methods of info-metric. Methodological foundations of the research: systematic, sociological, competence-based, personality-oriented, activity-based, qualimetric and probabilistic-statistical approaches.

The preceding work is summed up as a study of adults’ attempts over a century-long period to make sense of their own childhood experiences of antiquity and to recreate those experiences for new generations through the medium of absorbing pleasure reading. Such experiences are valued for their capacity to stimulate the imagination, to expand moral understanding, to pave the way for further education, and to bring renewal or redemption to the disturbed modern world. The chapter ends with a brief survey of developments in classical mythology and historical fiction for children and young adults from the mid-1960s until the present, including the emergence of new forms of fantasy literature and the role of new media such as video games and fan fiction.

Abstract In this text, the DGB develops proposals from a trade union point of view, on how to tackle the emerging structural transformation that will affect large parts of the manufacturing industry. Given the importance of this sector, it is justifiable for the state to use public funds to accompany these structural changes, especially since part of the changes are also a result of state intervention. The primary focus should be set on continuing education and training. The arguments made against subsidized training can be largely refuted in this context. Continuing education and training can be supported by the counselling services of the Employment Agencies. Company training plans can assure that no group of employees is left behind and that the trainings that are carried out are future-oriented. Finally, the financial participation of employers is also a guarantee that no “training for stock” will take place. The instrument of short-time-work must also come into use. However, the conditions in which it can be employed should be expanded and tailored to meet the current challenges. Short-time-work should also be possible in case of a “technological and ecological transformation, leading to massive and rapid changes in the conditions of production”. The IG Metall proposal of a “transformation short-time-work allowance” provides a good basis for this discussion. Another potential source for skilled workers are the currently unemployed persons. Studies show that more unemployed persons would undergo a vocational training if the financial framework conditions were better. The DGB has proposed that an additional allowance should be granted to this group during measures of further education. Such an allowance would particularly support the recipients of minimum income provisions, of whom a large number doesn’t have any completed vocational training.

Introduction. In the modern world, volunteering is one of the most effective ways for successful social development and improvement of the quality of human life. By the Decree of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin, the year of 2018 has been declared the Year of Volunteer in the Russian Federation. Voluntary activity has a positive impact not only on people who are provided with help but also on volunteers. Volunteering is beneficial for the formation and strengthening of moral position and citizenship, development of philanthropy, responsiveness, sense of justice, leadership skills. Besides, youth volunteering abroad has long been used as an important element of preparation to perform professional duties. Participating in the professionally focused volunteering, the student has an opportunity to gain professional experience, to check the correctness of own professional self-determination and career aptitude. Similar volunteer service is especially relevant for representatives of the “caring” professions – teachers, social workers, psychologists and doctors, i.e. people who have to be a priori ready for pro-social activity and have such qualities as goodwill, communicability and conscientiousness. The aimof the paper is to study the dynamics of the psychological characteristics of future health-care professionals regularly participating in professionally-oriented volunteer activities.Methodology and research methods. The research is based on competency-based and activity approaches to education. Also, research methodology involves the key provisions of the concept of a humanization of the pedagogical process of the higher education institution, and the basic principles of volunteers’ activity declared in documents of the “United Nations Volunteers” (UNV) programme. The survey among students was the main method of information collection. Psycho-diagnostic tools involved: the assessment technique for communicative and organizing tendencies of an individual (V. V. Sinyavsky, V. A. Fedoroshin); the questionnaire for assessing the development level of empathic tendencies (A. Megrabyan, N. Epstein); the methodology for studying of valuable orientations of the individual (M. Rokich); the questionnaire “Motivation of Assistance” (S. K. Nartov-Bochaver). To objectify the data obtained, the Mann–Whitney U Test statistical technique was applied to reveal a difference in values of the parameter between small selections. Results and scientific novelty. The volunteer team was organized at the Department of Psychology of Health and Correctional Psychology of the Kursk State Medical University. This team is engaged in volunteering at the boarding school for children with disabilities. The authors came to the conclusion that the real directions of quasi-professional voluntary student unionism substantially correspond to the abilities and skills required of future health professionals. The authors analyzed the two-year dynamics of changes in students’ psychological characteristics and professional competencies under the influence of their constant involvement in the volunteer movement. The key personality traits of an experienced student volunteer were designated: orientation towards humanistic values; motivation and readiness of providing assistance to needy people; well-developed communicative abilities and empathy. It has been established empirically that the level of development of these professionally important qualities among the student volunteers is initially above, compared with fellow students who were not involved in volunteering. Also, the level mentioned above continues to evolve actively due to the performance of the professionally focused and socially important volunteer mission.Practical significance. Results of the undertaken research prove convincingly that inclusion in the pedagogical process of higher education institution of professional volunteering as one of the priority activities contributes to the spiritual-moral education of students, the formation of professional and general humanistic outlook. In addition, student volunteering allows future graduates to find the necessary experience in the chosen field of employment.

Objective: identify the features of hard work of children of senior preschool age. Methods: a diagnostic procedure aimed at evaluating the structural components of hard work of children of senior preschool age (cognitive, emotional, motivational, behavioral), developed by R. S. Bure, I. V. Zhitko, G. A. Uruntayeva, Yu. a. Afonkina, allowed us to analyze the features of hard work and outline the prospects for its further education, in terms of pedagogical conditions. Results: the results of the study revealed that the majority of children of senior preschool age are at an average level, which is characterized by a manifestation of interest on the part of children in adult work, but there is insufficient volume and depth of ideas about adult work and its significance. Children are characterized by a lack of initiative and independence. The level of labor skills in household work is characterized by insufficient responsibility: children do not maintain order in the group, forget to clean up their toys; lack of independence, initiative, consistency: children do not know where to start cleaning, where to get the necessary equipment, how to properly perform duty. Scientific novelty: based on the use of a set of complementary research methods, the article substantiates the features of hard work of children of senior preschool age and defines the pedagogical conditions for its education through ethical conversations. Practical significance: the results of this research can be used in the educational process and practice of teachers of preschool and additional education, as well as individual work of teachers and parents with children of older preschool age to foster hard work through ethical conversations.

Introduction. The article presents a philosophical and methodological substantiation of personal experience as a subject of development in the educational process and personal culture as the goal of developmental education. Such a justification is the content of philosophy of developmental education in that part, which can be attributed to philosophical anthropology, to the philosophy of culture and social philosophy. This content is made up of knowledge about the laws governing the development of a personal experience and the formation of the main types of personal culture. It allows us to determine the invariant structure of educational goals, which can be correlated with the requirements for educational outcomes described through competences. On the basis of the invariant system of developmental education goals, variable ways of achieving these goals, both for general and for vocational education, can be determined, reflecting the particular and individual levels of human existence. The aim of the present article is to philosophically substantiate the understanding of personal culture as the goal of education, focused on the development of a person as a whole, on the development of the personality.Methodology and research methods. The methodological basis of the study is the dialectical approach: the dialectic of the essence and existence of a person, the principle of unity of diversity, the relationship of general, particular and individual. Research methods were determined in accordance with philosophical and psychological knowledge about a person, obtained on the basis of applying systematic, subject-active and cultural-historical approach.Results. The result of the study was the conclusion that the laws of acquisition, reproduction and development of a personal experience are the objective basis for determining the system of goals of developmental education, its content and the complex of ways to organise it. Personal experience is the subject of development in the process of education. The qualitative state of experience, which characterises the completion of the stages of the social and cultural development of a person, is defined by the authors as personal culture. It acts as a complete product of the educational process, and therefore the overall goal of education. Knowledge of the laws of existence and development of the basic elements of personal social and cultural experience becomes the rationale for determining the goals, content and methods of organising education and training in a holistic educational process.Scientific novelty. The scientific novelty of the study lies in the fact that for the first time in the philosophy of education, the authors consider the formation of personal culture in conjunction with the development by individuals of groups of cultural means corresponding to the main stages of human cultural development.Practical significance. The developed approach allows for the determination of the invariant structure of pedagogical technologies of continuing developmental education, as well as this approach involves the creation of a variable component of technology, ensuring the unity and originality of the levels of human existence in the educational process.
