Micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) have been identified as the backbone of global economy (Bloem, 2012; Dano-Luna, Canare& Francisco, 2018). This fact is true in a developing country such as the Philippines. The Philippine Senate Economic Planning Office (2012) noted that MSMEs are very essential to the economy as it is linked with the creation of jobs, innovation and wealth. Specifically, they are attributed with the boost of economic progress in rural areas, the provision of support services to large enterprises and the formation of new entrepreneurs and large corporations (Senate of the Philippines, 2012). As such, MSMEs are crucial partners for the realization of the fullest economic potential and growth of the Philippines. This is to say that MSMEs play a key role in the maintenance of the cooperative and competitive advantage of the Philippines in the ASEAN integration and in the global market.

There is a growing consensus among policymakers and academics that internationalization of domestic firms will create jobs and wealth, yet relatively little is known about the incentives for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to undertake this process. I analyze the motivations of SMEs from Vietnam, Indonesia and the Philippines to engage in exporting in the context of triangulation, which considers the impact of the global economy, national economy, and societal milieu on SMEs. I find that scarce demand in the home market is positively and significantly correlated with exporting, while favourable government incentives are less significant. Significant foreign demand and existing parent–subsidiary relationships are important explanations for SME exports from Vietnam, but not for Indonesia or the Philippines. These findings suggest that national economies are currently more important than the global economy for SME exports in Southeast Asia; my results call into question the ability of governments to encourage SMEs to internationalize via exporting.

Entrepreneurship plays an important role in the modern global economy; the share of products of small and medium enterprises in the gross product and exports not only of the developed but also of developing countries is growing. Innovation processes cover all sectors of the economy, and more and more people are involved in entrepreneurial activity, which contributes to the penetration of entrepreneurial thinking and business values in all areas of the socioeconomic life of society. The Institute of Entrepreneurship plays an increasingly prominent role in the institutional environment of socio-economic systems. This actualizes the problem of studying the relationship of the institution of entrepreneurship with the institutions of law, culture, management. This requires a methodology that allows you to explore the impact on the institute of entrepreneurship not only economic, but also non-economic factors. The methodology of the “old” institutionalism possesses such a tool, it is structural modeling (pattern modeling), which allows to explore the diversity of interrelationships of the institution of entrepreneurship with other components of the institutional and economic environment. The article explored the features of the development of the institution of entrepreneurship in Russia, established the relationship between the institution of entrepreneurship, values, motives and incentives for entrepreneurial activity, built a structural model of the institution of entrepreneurship based on the methodology of the old institutionalism (pattern modeling). The structural model of the institution of entrepreneurship reveals the relationship between the institution of entrepreneurship, the values of entrepreneurial activity, its motives and incentives; as well as the relationship between the institution of entrepreneurship with the institutions of governance, cultural and religious institutions, legal institutions and society.

The rural area is a very important multifunctional space, with landscape enhancement value and function. These factors are then necessary for the directions of development process in rural communities. The countryside creates an important part of economic and social state system. The area of work and the employment of population into the productive age present ones of significant macro-economic indicators of the capacity of national economy. Changes of economy in the market space, transformation of companies of agricultural primary production to new legal form, restructuring of production and manpower in agriculture  caused leaving of part skilled of the workers, as well as other workers to another branches of national economy. In 1990’s, especially in the beginning during the transformation of Czech economy, there was a big boom of private business and new forms of business activities and subjects emerged. Traditional lifestyle, which continues in the Czech countryside, determined that small enterprise prevails here. Current economics clearly shows that small and medium enterprises have an unsubstitutable role in our economic development and greatly contribute to creating new jobs in individual regions.

In light of the global economy, it is undeniable that small businesses such as family-owned small and medium enterprises (SMEs) affect economic performance globally. They offer a key basis of flexibility and innovation but also face some challenges along the way. Since family SMEs form a large portion in the Malaysian corporate sector, the economy of this country is highly dependent on family firms’ entrepreneurial capacity. During the past decade, although family SMEs innovation is analytically and empirically reviewed in terms of theory building, it still lacks a systematic adoption of thorough and theoretically-based frameworks to gain understanding on the evolution of knowledge transformation surrounding this topic. This study primarily focuses on the development of tacit knowledge through innovation during generational change with specific attention given to three family firms ranging from old, new and declining wealth enterprises. Besides, this article appraises the evolution of SMEs innovation when new generations attempt to transform the tacit knowledge in advancing the products innovation and quality branding in Malaysia.

Creative industries including its subsector handicraft, is very potential to be developed, because Indonesia is rich in culture heritage. Creative industries is largely related to a group of micro , small and medium enterprises which are mostly located in rural areas . Industry has entered the era of globalization which is rapidly developed, so that the role of UKM (small&medium enterprises) in handicraft as a part of the creative industries to achieve welfare society should be developed. The appropriate strategic planning will spur the development of this industry. Mendong craft is one of the creative industry subsector that exists in Sleman. Methods of analysis is using value chain and SWOT analysis. From the data, it is found that mendong craft is a cultured asset that deserve to be developed. Mendong, as the material for the weaved craft is an abundant local natural asset, but a lack of interest from the local community to develop this industry brings less quantity of product that is produced. This craft is still less touched so that it has limitation in creation/ design, production,commerlialization, and distribution. The reality is that the entrepreneurs are afraid to enter the global marked caused by anxiousness about the inability to fulfill demanded quantity.

Horizont 2020 programme, used by European Union to fund aims from Innovation Union and EUROPE2020 strategies, enables small and medium enterprises (SME) to strengthen their innovativeness capacities and potential with main goal of putting innovation on market. SME Instrument is unique programme for funding of SMEs’ innovative actions aiming to strengthen their presence on global market and increase of competitiveness. Having in mind that in Europe more than 99% companies belong to SME category, and that BiH has paid participation in this programme, this means that domestic SMEs can apply for these funds. During 2014 were submitted over 6000 project proposals, but little over 500 were funded. This is telling us enough on interest of European SMEs for participation, but also about programme as ideal source of funds for realisation of innovative ideas.

This service will provide an overview of entrepreneurship of small and medium enterprises using digital technology. From all points of view, be it motivation, business opportunities or ideas, as well as business rules according to sharia. During the current Covid-19 pandemic, it is very demanding for young people who already have business plans to adopt digital business tools more quickly to survive and develop in the new normal era. Therefore, prospective young entrepreneurs have great potential to be prepared to become excellent entrepreneurs, who will not only be economically independent, but will also develop regional economic potential which in turn will have a positive impact on the national economy. The purpose of this service is to overcome the problem of unemployment by the younger generation. The solutions we provide are in the form of training and providing motivation to develop and provide basic techniques for doing digital business, and do not forget to provide understanding to aspiring young entrepreneurs about doing business in an Islamic way as a form of development of the nation's.

Microbusiness, MB, importance for the global economy is uncontestable; they have huge participation of the world's production. In Peru, small-and medium-enterprises, SMEs, are 99% of the total of existing companies and contribute approximately 47% of the country's GDP; MBs are grouped within SMEs. They are the greatest generators of employment, although this may be informal and of poor quality. MBs confront difficulties, mainly due to their limited human and financial resources. Theories around how to deal with it have been developed mainly with big enterprises in mind, and this has little connection with what happens inside MBs. Accordingly, this chapter offers “collaboration” as a response strategy in case of a disruptive event to support MB resilience construction. This is contextualized from the experience of the Peruvian Costal El Niño 2017 and illustrated through the actions that a MB case (a beekeeper) took to deal with it.

Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) are the engines of economic growth, promote equitable development and create more opportunities for being innovative in providing sustainable solutions. They also play a crucial role in providing employment opportunities, aid industrialization in rural backward areas, reduce regional imbalances and assure equitable distribution of national income and wealth. But survival in the new global market calls not only for improved productivity but sustainability and growth through innovation on incessant basis. Business sustainability involves self-assessment to identify improvement opportunities, strengths and ideas for future organizational development. In India, though SME is an important contributor to economy, yet many face lot of difficulties and end winding up or becoming unsustainable. Several studies have shown that factors related to poor management, less innovative approaches, short short-termism are the causes of failure or closure. Hence, the core objective of this chapter is to explore the approaches which can lead to better understanding of sustainable replicas to enhance innovation and sustainability.

A new management trend of the global information technology (IT) application—virtualization—has appeared in the contemporary management. Virtualization is a process of enterprise transformation (using IT) that allows breaking through various limitations of organizational constraints. Virtualization changes dramatically the image of business, especially of small and medium enterprises (SMEs); by adopting the concept of virtualization, they can become fully competitive and may effectively operate in the global market. Barriers of the scale between SMEs and large organizations disappear. This new type of organizations is often called in literature modern organization or virtual organization. Organizations of this type have an effective decision-making process, and function based on economic criteria. Consequently, their opportunities to grow and to compete in the global market are greater than for traditional SMEs. Hence the thesis that virtualization allows individual organizations to enter strategic co-operative alliances with other similar businesses. Such of virtual organizations have a competitive position in the global market. In the literature, there are many terms used to define virtual organization: “network organizations” (Drucker, 1988, p. 9), “organizations after re-engineering” (Hammer & Champy, 1993, pp. 77-79), “crazy organization,” “crazy time for crazy organization” (Peters, 1994, pp. 5-7), and “intelligent enterprise” (Quinn, 1992, p. 3).
