How to scientifically and effectively help the economy has become the most important economic issue at present. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the service industry has been directly affected, while small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) have also been seriously hit, and the negative impacts on export-oriented enterprises cannot be underestimated as well. It is critical and urgent for these enterprises to quickly recover from the crisis and find ways to secure a viable competitive position in their respective industries in post-pandemic era. The Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has not only brought unprecedented impact on China’s economic and social development, but also provided new opportunities for traditional industries to achieve digital transformation. Taking service industry, foreign trade enterprises and small and medium-sized enterprises for example, this study focuses on how China’s industries and enterprises in the post-pandemic era can recover from the impact of the pandemic by taking advantage of digital transformation opportunities: (1) Transferring services online and promoting upgradation of online business; (2) Cooperating with e-commerce platforms to transfer exports to domestic sales and catering to the need of domestic consumers; (3) Applying flexible production and shared manufacturing to better cope with external changes and reduce operation costs of small and mediumsized enterprises. In Russia, digitalization of the state and municipal spheres remains a task to be resolved. The present research objective was to assess the current level of digitalization of state and municipal services in the Kemerovo region in order to develop some recommendations. The author analyzed foreign experience and compared the digital situation in the Kemerovo region with that in other constituent entities of the Russian Federation. The low level of local digitalization results from the low level of information and communication infrastructure, "patchwork automation", lack of qualified personnel, financial problems, etc. The following measures can improve the situation: more active feedback from citizens, analysis of best practices, participation in pilot government projects, increasing the availability and convenience of electronic services via mobile applications and gamification, etc.

I review the achievements in the financial industry and threats associated with the use of new technologies. Methods. The study employs methods of comparative analysis, systematization, classification, analogy and comparison. Results. The paper describes the application of IT technologies in the banking business, including its traditional branches. I consider the possibility of banks to earn money in the traditional capacity of an intermediary in the environment, where investments can be attracted and implemented directly, using mobile applications; when payments are significantly cheaper, the cryptocurrency appears, and anyone can easily make conversion. Conclusions. I believe, it is a middle of digital transformation. It is not yet clear, where this path will lead. The States explain their demands by taking care of consumers and by drawing conclusions based on past crises. It is possible that these approaches will form a basis of a new international monetary system, which will replace the current Jamaican one.

Digital technological innovation is reshaping the pattern of industrial development. Due to the shortage of digital talents and the frequent mobility of these people, the competition for talents will be very fierce for organizations to realize digital transformation. The digitization transformation of China’s service industry is far ahead of that of industry and agriculture. It is of great significance to study the organizational management and talent management of service enterprises to reduce the negative impact of insufficient talent reserve and meet the needs of digital development. Based on 378 valid questionnaires from China’s service industry, this paper applied polynomial regression and a response surface model to analyze the impact of two kinds of person-environment fit on work engagement and individual creativity. The results show that: (1) under the combination of high morality and high talent, work engagement and individual creativity are the highest; (2) individual creativity is stronger under the condition of high morality and low talent than under low morality and high talent; and (3) work engagement mediates the influence of morality and talent on individual creativity. The research reveals the internal mechanism by which morality and talent cooperatively promote individual creativity, which provides theoretical guidance for management practice of service firms to improve individual creativity in the process of digital transformation.

The digital transformation of the economy as the most important stage of scientific and technological progress and transition to a new technological structure is becoming one of the determining factors in the development and competitiveness of the domestic upstream sector. Prospects for innovative development of oilfield service companies are the key technological areas within the first project of the Hi-Tech Strategy of the German Government until 2020 – “Industry 4.0”. The purpose of this study is to assess the prospects for innovative development of the domestic oilfield service industry in the context of the digitalization of the oil and gas industry. The subject of the research is the process of the formation of key technological lines of “Industry 4.0” and their impact on the domestic oil and gas sector. The research is based on logical-theoretical and empirical analyses. The main factors that determine processes of digital transformation in the oil and gas industry are considered; the results of digitalization processes in the largest foreign and Russian industry companies of the upstream and oilfield services segments are presented. The information base is made up of data from oilfield service and oil and gas producing companies, presented on the official websites of companies in the public domain on the Internet. It has been proven that, unlike the world's leading companies in oilfield services segment, independent domestic oilfield service companies provide mainly traditional service technologies in a fairly narrow range. The limited scope of functioning and technological capabilities of Russian companies is explained by the lack of necessary investment in development and expansion of business, as well as interest on the part of the state and corporate sectors in the development and replication of domestic technologies and the formation of a full-fledged oilfield services market in Russia.

PurposeThe rapid advancement of digital technologies has fundamentally changed the competitive dynamics of the logistics service industry and forced incumbent logistics service providers (LSPs) to digitalize. As many LSPs still struggle in advancing their digital transformation (DT), the purpose of this study is to discover barriers and identify organizational elements and associated leading practices for DT success at LSPs.Design/methodology/approachThis study utilizes a two-stage approach. Stage 1 is devoted to a literature review. Stage 2, based on multiple case studies, analyzes information collected across nine international and global LSPs.FindingsThis research derives a practice-based definition of DT in the logistics service industry, and it has identified five barriers, eight success factors and associated leading practices for DT. The main obstacles LSPs struggle with, are the complexity of the logistics network and lack of resources, while the main success factor is a leader having and executing a DT vision, and creating a supportive organizational culture.Practical implicationsThe results contribute to the emerging field of DT within the logistics and supply chain management literature and provide insights for practitioners regarding how to effectively implement it in a complex industry.Originality/valueThe authors analyze DT from the perspective of LSPs, traditionally not viewed as innovative companies. This study compares their DT with that of other companies.
