Information and communication technology (ICT) is a top priority in building the new global economy and construct swift changes in society. The effective application of ICT in research development libraries and information centres has improved the ways and techniques of research information controlling. The main objective of Research and Development Institutions (R&D) libraries is to appropriate process and retrieve the information and to make available the much-required information to the research community. This study reveal the implementation and utilisation of Information Communication and Technology (ICT) methods in R&D libraries in Chennai, and the level of the extent of ICT in these libraries and also suggested the modern techniques to be implemented. Knowledge can be divided in to two categories namely explicit and tacit. This paper prospects how ICT and related systems can maintain libraries aspire towards excel administration of ICT management system. The results show that ICT could play an important role in the library system, to be used broadly in the R&D libraries. Government and semi-government institutions standards can improve drastically through this ICT enabled libraries, so that the researchers can use this research information retrieval through ICT tools. As per the surveyed librarians, this paper suggests that more modern technology can be used in the R&D libraries which can contribute more successful ICT application use to the research community. This technology has made extensive changes in each and every one, discipline and knowledge. In that scenario nowadays the library and information science is also demanding automatically in that operations. Even nowadays ICT proficiency and competences needed for the implementation of the information and knowledge based library user society in the region of Chennai. The ICT tools have nowadays become an important technology in R&D libraries as it plays a very significant role in meeting information requirements of the research communities and institution as a whole. This study has identified the ICT structure and implementation in R&D libraries across Chennai.

Information is considered as need of human in the recent undertakings. In this paper the study has been done to research on application of Information communication Technology (ICT) and uses of ICT tools in Academic Libraries, with a focus on Turkana University College Library, to find out the application of ICT skills in Library Information Science professionals and to modernize the libraries. The study has been done in the School of Science and Technology and School of Education and Social Sciences, with the aims: (1) how students in these schools apply ICT in the library, and (2) how ICT tools are applied to provide innovative services to the users. This paper shows that the application of ICT tools is increasing in academic libraries especially from the two schools of Turkana University College, due to the development of technologies and according to the respondent ranking mobile phone is making it inevitable, due to easy access at any time anywhere.

Taiwan became a leading worldwide manufacturer of computer hardware in the 1990s. The purpose of this paper is to review the process that led to the birth and growth of Taiwan's information-communication technology (ICT) industries. We further discuss such factors as research and development, high-tech human capital, venture capital, financial liberalization, and telecommunications liberalization, which have contributed to the success of the ICT industries and the shift in the economy from labor-intensive to capital-intensive and technology-intensive production.

Nowadays biology teachers should be professional, ICT and information competent, and they must be able to create diverse teaching scenarios and apply modern technology, enabling students to acquire the knowledge and develop the competences needed for life in the 21st century. With the aim of determining the degree of implementation of information and communication technology in the educational process, a research was conducted on a sample of 65 biology teachers from the Split-Dalmatia County. The results show that biology teachers insufficiently apply ICT tools, and on the work they most commonly use Power Point presentations and their permutations. Length of teachers working experience and the types of schools in which they work are not factors frequently use of ICT tools in the educational process. The results can be the encouragement to transform the initial education of future biology teachers and guidelines for the necessary additional professional training of teachers practitioners and strengthening their ICT skills.

Abstract: There is no doubt that the integration of ICT in the provision of library services can bring great benefits to the entire community and the nation. ICTs, which continue to be a support tool for the provision of up-to-date and timely information and library services, are also essential for sustainable development .This paper is an attempt to examine the critical role that information and communication technology (ICT). How it plays important role in the management and delivery of library services in sustainable development. Despite the wide range of opportunities offered by the advent of ICT, it has been observed that the application of ICT to library services appears inadequate, probably due to several challenges. Using the simple literature search methodology, the paper sought to review the related literature on ICT resources and ICT-based services in libraries, the benefits of ICT and the role of libraries in sustainable development. The document also identified the challenges of using ICT in libraries. Among other things, it was recommended to improve the capacity and level of adoption of ICT by libraries. The study investigated the integration of information communication and technology (ICT) with library instruction (LI) in Clifford University Owerrinta (CLU), Abia State, Nigeria. The study adopted total enumeration method with a population of 124 first year students of 2016/2017 academic session. Two instruments were developed and validated by two professors in the field of Library and Information Science with a reliability result of 0.82 and 0.84 respectively using Cronbach alpha procedure. The instruments were administered face-to-face to the same respondents who registered for the course in the first and second semesters with 100 per cent participation. The finding showed that a change from the traditional method of instruction to an inclusive LI with ICT integration has a significant effect on students’ use of ICT tools and related IT facilities in private university. The study recommended that ICT-based courses should be inculcated in LI curriculum; ICT tools such as projector, interactive board, computers, laptops and Internet connection should be made available for use during LI course while librarians should support and instruct students to acquire ICT skill in order to use ICT-based library information resources effectively.

Abstract Underwater monitoring activities are crucial for the preservation of marine ecosystems. Currently, scuba divers are involved in data collection campaigns that are repetitive, dangerous, and expensive. This article describes the application of Information Communication Technology (ICT) tools to underwater visual data for monitoring purposes. The data refer to a Posidonia Oceanica survey mission carried out by a scuba diver using a Smart Dive Scooter equipped with visual acquisition and acoustic localization systems. An acoustic-based strategy for geo-referencing of the optical dataset is reported. It exploits the synchronization between the audio track extracted from a camera and the transponder pings adopted for the acoustic positioning. The positioning measurements are employed within an extended Kalman filter to estimate the diver's path during the mission. A visual odometry algorithm is implemented within the filter to refine the navigation state estimation of the diver with respect to the acoustic positioning only. Moreover, a smoothing step based on the Rauch-Tung-Striebel smoother is applied to further improve the estimated diver's positions. Finally, the article reports the results of two different data processing for monitoring applications. The first one is an image mosaicking obtained by concatenating subsequent frames, whereas the second one refers to a qualitative distribution of the Posidonia Oceanica over the mission area accomplished through an image segmentation process. The two outcomes are plotted over a satellite image of the surveyed area, showing that the proposed process is an effective tool capable of facilitating divers in their monitoring and inspection activities.

The purpose of this chapter is to define the evolution and key indicators of the information society that is being triggered by the Information Wave of the last 25 years. Several types of the information society from the point of view of information-communication technology (ICT) will be reviewed and their developmental paths will be defined. The fast development of the global economy based on information-communication technology (ICT) is supported by the information society, because without this technology it would be rather impossible to perceive information society. Depending on the different levels of a given country’s development, the information society has different levels of complexity and influence on the global economy and vice versa. Hence, it is important to recognize the information society’s different trends of development and their solutions and internal and external consequences. A question appears whether the information society is a new tool of thought or a new way of life. The answer to this question is provided in this chapter.

The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted life and all forms of education. However, the impact on medical education is unique since the need for continuity of training medical students is urgent and traditionally calls for hands-on training and a physical presence. This is further compounded by the unavailability of teachers who are also serving as frontline health-care providers in the pandemic. This article discusses the role and types of information communication technology (ICT) tools in filling the gaps and ensuring educational continuity in medical education, collaboration, and learning, across the world in the current scenario. A variety of online collaboration tools and digital interventions are discussed. A comparison between the various ICT tools being used by medical educators is also presented. The potential and corresponding challenges of revamping the medical education system and incorporating ICT tools in the long run have also been discussed. Our work can serve as the basis of further studies on creating digital educational models in medical education.
