RESUMO Objetivo: descrever o processo de elaboração e validação de conteúdo acerca do uso do preservativo para a aplicação na educação em saúde, no âmbito da aprendizagem baseada em problemas. Método: trata-se de um estudo qualitativo, descritivo, metodológico, desenvolvido, com nove profissionais com expertise na área da saúde e na aprendizagem baseada em problemas. Tabularam-se os dados no programa Excel® e apresentaram-se os resultados em tabelas. Resultados: verificou-se que, no processo de validação do conteúdo, todos os itens obtiveram o Índice de Validade de Conteúdo Máximo (=1), exceto o item “abrangência” do problema um (IVC=0,77) e o item “linguagem” do problema três (IVC=0,88). Realizaram-se, para se contemplarem as sugestões indicadas para estes itens, as seguintes alterações, respectivamente: a inclusão da participação feminina na adesão ao uso do preservativo e o esclarecimento do termo técnico “ejacular”. Conclusão: aponta-se a validação via e-mail, com um número ímpar de avaliadores e com a utilização do Índice de Validade de Conteúdo, como uma estratégia prática e eficaz. Recomenda-se que outros estudos sejam desenvolvidos, incluindo a validação pelo público-alvo. Objectives: The current study aimed to design, develop, and evaluate a germane load-based cognitive rehabilitation program designed for students with special learning disabilities. Methods: The exploratory, descriptive method was used for designing the program. Thematic analysis (Sterling (2001)) was used to estimate the germane load themes. Based on the previous studies, 85 specific germane load codes were identified and evaluated. According to the results, the Multimedia Principle in germane load, Multi-personalization principle, and the Feedback principle consisted of 16, 17, 12 basic themes, respectively. Besides, the Reflection principle, as the most important learning principle in germane load, contained 17 basic themes, and the Guided Activity principle consisted of 8 basic themes. The content validity method was used to validate the program, both quantitatively and qualitatively, with a panel of 10 experts as well as two relative content validity coefficients (CVR) and content validity index (CVI). Results: The minimum and maximum content validity index (CVI) for each article or program component are 0.8 and 1, respectively, and the minimum and maximum content validity index (CVR) for each article or program component are 0.7 and 1, respectively. Conclusions: The results showed that the germane load-based cognitive rehabilitation program for students with special learning disabilities has appropriate content validity as well as the necessary validity for educational, clinical, and research purposes.

RESUMO Objetivo: construir uma tecnologia educativa para cuidadores de crianças com HIV/AIDS. Método: trata-se de estudo quantitativo, tipo metodológico, realizado a partir da construção do material educativo, com posterior validação por nove juízes e avaliação de 15 cuidadores. Estabeleceu-se a validação de conteúdo a partir do Índice de Validade de Conteúdo com concordância igual ou maior que 0,78.  Resultados: compôs-se o folder por oito páginas e embasaram-se os seus textos na literatura e em entrevistas realizadas com cuidadores para apreender parte da subjetividade destes sobre a percepção e a expectativa que permeiam os cuidados à criança com HIV/Aids. Avaliaram-se os itens como adequados alcançando o IVC total de 0,90. Evidenciou-se que o percentual de concordância dos cuidadores foi de 100% na maioria dos itens. Conclusão: construiu-se e validou-se o folder podendo este ser utilizado na educação em saúde com cuidadores proporcionando o empoderamento ao cuidado de crianças com HIV/Aids. Results: the folder was composed of eight pages and based on literature and interviews with caregivers to capture part of their subjectivity about the perception and expectation that permeate the care of children with HIV / AIDS. ABSTRACT Objective: to build and validate an educational booklet for bathing and hygiene of elders at home. Methods: a methodological study, developed through data collection in literature and situational diagnosis, booklet construction, material qualification through validation by expert judges (11 nurses) and target audience (30 caregivers). Data were analyzed descriptively. The minimum content validity index of 0.80 was considered. Results: in content and appearance validation, experts assigned Content Validity Index global of 0.92, while for assessment of the material’s suitability, the booklet was classified as “superior”, with an average of 90%. In the validation of caregivers, the overall Content Validity Index was 1.0. Conclusion: the booklet was successfully validated and can be considered in the context of health education and collaborate with an adequate and safe practice of bathing and hygiene of elders at home.

Abstract Objective To build and validate a flowchart for the prevention and treatment of intestinal peristomal skin complications. Method For the construction of the algorithms, a systematic review was carried out in health sciences databases comprising the last 10 years. The evaluation of the algorithms was carried out by 38 nurses. For the validation of the algorithms, the Delphi technique was used. The statistical analysis used was the content validity index and the Cronbach alpha coefficient. The questionnaire was sent by e-mail and in person after approval by the Ethics and Research Committee. Results In the first evaluation of the algorithms, there was no agreement among the experts. However, after making the corrections suggested by the evaluators, the algorithms were resent, with a 100% consensus among the evaluators. The questions used to validate the algorithms contributed favourably to the internal consistency and content validation of the instrument, since the respective Cronbach alpha was 0.9062 and the global content validity index (g-CVI) was 0.91 in the first validation and 1.0 in the second validation. Conclusion After an integrative literature review, the flowcharts were built and validated by a professional with experience in the area, showing 100% agreement among the experts in the second evaluation.

Abstract Background: Health education basing on patients’ information-seeking style can improve the effect of health education and patients’ health outcomes. The Miller Behavioral Style Scale(C-MBSS) is widely used, but the Chinese version is lacking. The study aim was to test the reliability and validity of C-MBSS.Methods: The forward-back-translation procedure was adopted in the translation of the MBSS. Content validity was assessed in a panel of experts. In a sample of 1343 individuals including patients, patients’ caregivers, university students, and medical staff, reliability and construct validity were assessed using Cronbach’s alpha coefficient and factor analysis.Results: The C-MBSS achieved conceptual and semantic equivalence with the original scale. The item-level content validity index (I-CVI) of each item ranged from 0.78 to 1, and the averaging scale-level content validity index (S-CVI/ Ave) was 0.95. Thecronbach`s alpha coefficient for the scale and sub-scales were over 0.6. The exploratory factor analysis resulted in 2-factor assumption for each hypothetical threat-evoking scenario. Confirmatory factor analysis demonstrated a good fit between theoretical model and data, which provided confirmatory evidence for the second-order factor structure of 2-factor solution (Monitoring and Blunting).Conclusions: This study verified the reliability and validity of the C-MBSS and indicated that the C-MBSS can be used to identify individual`s information-seeking style in Chinese population.

Objective: Caring for individuals with multiple sclerosis (MS) can affect their caregivers’ occupational performance in various areas such as work, rest/sleep, and social participation. Part of the rehabilitation process is educating caregivers. Primary caregivers need knowledge and information to deliver their caring role. Although face-to-face learning is useful, it can have some limitations. For example, a caregiver should refer to a specific center to receive information and interventions, which is often time-consuming and may trouble them to perform other roles, including their occupational roles. Written health education is used for complementing or strengthening verbal education and maximizing its effectiveness. These materials play an essential role in increasing knowledge, self-management, and commitment to treatment. When health professionals and health services are not available to caregivers, written health education materials can partially answer their questions and needs. It can also help reduce the costs of health care for caregivers. The present study aims to develop and validate the appearance and content of an educational booklet to improve the occupational performance of primary caregivers of individuals with MS (PCIMS). Materials & Methods: This is a methodological study conducted. 1. preparing the content based on grounded theory study of PCIMS and their challenges, and then preparing an initial draft, 2. examining the face validity and content validity of the initial draft according to the opinions of 22 experts in MS, and 3. examining the face validity and content validity of the initial draft according to views of 22 PCIMS. An item-level content validity index (I-CVI) value of ≥0.78 and a scale-level content validity index/average (S-CVI/Ave) value of ≥0.9 were considered as the criteria for having acceptable validity in the second and third phases. The binomial test was also used to test the statistical reliability of the I-CVIs at a significance level of 0.05 and the expected proportion of agreement (test proportion) of 0.8. Results: The minimum I-CVI and S-CVI/Ave values for the items of a scale designed to assess the face validity and content validity of the booklet were respectively reported 0.9 and 0.97, according to the panel of experts. Also, the minimum observed proportion of agreement for items under the binomial test was obtained 0.9, which was higher than the expected proportion of agreement (0.8). I-CVIs values, S-CVI/Ave value and the observed proportion of agreement between PCIMS were equal to 1. For participating experts and PCIMS, the booklet had appropriate validity, and their comments on the appearance and content of the booklet were applied to the final version of the booklet. Conclusion: The developed educational booklet has acceptable face validity and content validity, and specialists can use it for the rehabilitation intervention of PCIMS. Further studies are recommended to investigate the effectiveness of this booklet on improving the quality of life of PCIMS.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the validity and reliability of the Turkish version of the Diabetic Foot Scale–Short Form (DFS-SF). The study was cross-sectional and conducted between January and October 2019 in a diabetic foot council of a university hospital. A total of 194 diabetic foot patients participated in the study. A Patient Identification Form and DFS-SF were used for data collection. Forward and backward translations were used in language validity. Expert opinions were obtained to determine the Content Validity Index. To determine construct validity, exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis were used. Cronbach’s α internal consistency coefficient, item-scale correlation, and test-retest reliability were used to evaluate reliability. It was found that Content Validity Index was 0.97 (0.86-1.00), the factor loading of scale varied from 0.378 to 0.982, Cronbach’s α value varied from 0.81 to 0.94, and item-total correlations were between 0.30 and 0.75. The Turkish version of the DFS-SF was found valid and reliable to measure the quality of life of diabetic foot patients.

PurposeTo translate and adapt the Chelsea Critical Care Physical Assessment Tool (CPAx) into Chinese version (‘CPAx-Chi’), test the reliability and validity of CPAx-Chi, and verify the cut-off point for the diagnosis of intensive care unit-acquired weakness (ICU-AW).Study designCross-sectional observational study.MethodsForward and back translation, cross-cultural adaptation and pretesting of CPAx into CPAx-Chi were based on the Brislin model. Participants were recruited from the general ICU of five third-grade class-A hospitals in western China. Two hundred critically ill adult patients (median age: 53 years; 64% men) with duration of ICU stay ≥48 hours and Glasgow Coma Scale ≥11 were included in this study. Two researchers simultaneously and independently assessed eligible patients using the Medical Research Council Muscle Score (MRC-Score) and CPAx-Chi.ResultsThe content validity index of items was 0.889. The content validity index of scale was 0.955. Taking the MRC-Score scale as standard, the criterion validity of CPAx-Chi was r=0.758 (p<0.001) for researcher A, and r=0.65 (p<0.001) for researcher B. Cronbach’s α was 0.939. The inter-rater reliability was 0.902 (p<0.001). The area under the receiver operating characteristic curves of CPAx-Chi for diagnosing ICU-AW based on MRC-Score ≤48 were 0.899 (95% CI 0.862 to 1.025) and 0.874 (95% CI 0.824 to 0.925) for researcher B. The best cut-off point for CPAx-Chi for the diagnosis of ICU-AW was 31.5. The sensitivity was 87% and specificity was 77% for researcher A, whereas it was 0.621, 31.5, 75% and 87% for researcher B, respectively. The consistency was high when taking CPAx-Chi ≤31 and MRC-Score ≤48 as the cut-off points for the diagnosis of ICU-AW. Cohen’s kappa=0.845 (p=0.02) in researcher A and 0.839 (p=0.04) for researcher B.ConclusionsCPAx-Chi demonstrated content validity, criterion-related validity and reliability. CPAx-Chi showed the best accuracy in assessment of patients at risk of ICU-AW with good sensitivity and specificity at a recommended cut-off of 31.

ZUSAMMENFASSUNG Einleitung Der „Delivery Expectancy Questionnaire“ von Claas Wijma et al. (W-DEQ_A), der in der Schwangerschaft international am häufigsten zur Bestimmung von großer Angst vor der Geburt eingesetzt wird, lag bisher nicht in der deutschen Sprache vor. Angst vor der Geburt wird in europäischen Ländern, Canada, Australien und den USA mit einer Prävalenz von 6,3% bis 14,8% angegeben. Insbesondere bei Frauen mit Angst vor der Geburt sind die Risiken für eine Präeklampsie, intrauterine Wachstumsretardierung und Kaiserschnitte erhöht. Methode Eine von Claas Wijma autorisierte englische Fassung des W-DEQ_A wurde entsprechend der Richtlinie von Ohrbach et al. (INfORM) sprachlich übersetzt und kulturell adaptiert. Die Inhaltsvalidität wurde statistisch durch die Scale-Content Validity Index/Average Methode (S-CVI/Ave) bestimmt. Ergebnisse Die einer unabhängigen Begutachtung unterzogenen übersetzten Textteile des W-DEQ_A belegten die sprachliche und kulturelle Validität. Eine einleitende Frage und drei Items mussten erneut übersetzt werden. Darüber hinaus war eine Änderung der Formulierung bei drei weiteren Items notwendig, um eine kulturelle Äquivalenz zu erreichen. Die errechnete Inhaltsvalidität ergab einen „exzellenten“ S-CVI/Ave von 0,91. Schlussfolgerung Als Fragebogen zur Selbsteinschätzung mit dem Titel „Gedanken und Gefühle schwangerer Frauen im Hinblick auf die bevorstehende Geburt“ liegt der W-DEQ_A nun in Deutsch vor. In Form einer digitalen Gesundheits-App könnte der Fragebogen verschrieben und das Ergebnis direkt in die elektronische Patientenakte übernommen werden.
