Geriatric  disorder is growing problem in today’s era.  By 2050, one fifth of the world will be older than 65 years. As per Vagbhata ‘Vata Dosha’ is predominate in the body in old age. So there will be more catabolic activities taking place in the body which leads to many of chronic diseases like dementia, hypertension, diabetes, cardio vascular disease, etc.              Conventional system of medicine is not satisfactory in this problem as lack of holistic & compre    nsive approach towards this problem. Ayurveda has described Rasayana (Rejuvenation) Therapy which deals with old age complaints.  Rasayana drugs of Ayurveda like Aamalki, Shatavari,  Guduchi, Garlic, etc. are used to prevent,  cure diseases & to promote & preserve health of the healthy. Among these herbs,   Garlic (Allium sativum-Linn) has been widely used as one of the natural Rejuvenator & dietary                                                                                   factor. It treats number of diseases & considered as ‘Superior medicine’ for ‘Vata Dosha’.             Garlic has antioxidant properties, which improve general health & inhibit premature aging. In addition, it has anti-microbial, antihypertensive, anti- diabetic, anti carcinogenic, aphrodisiac & cardiac stimulant properties. Garlic detoxifies organ system, induces relaxation & promotes longevity.                 Scientific studies revealed that, antioxidants drugs have definite role in the prevention of Geriatric diseases. Garlic is cheap, easily available & easy for use.  Keeping all these facts in mind possible role of Garlic in Geriatric care will be discuss in detail in present paper.

: The current treatment and prevention of oral disorders follow a very sectoral control and procedures considering mouth and its structures as system completely independent from the rest of the body. The main therapeutic approach is carried out on just to keep the levels of oral bacteria and hygiene in an acceptable range compatible with one-way vision of oral-mouth health completely separated from a systemic microbial homeostasis (eubiosis vs dysbiosis). This can negatively impact on the diagnosis of more complex systemic disease and its progression. Dysbiosis is consequence of oral and gut microbiota unbalance with consequences, as reported in current literature, in cardio vascular disease, diabetes mellitus, rheumatoid arthritis, and Alzheimer’s disease. Likewise, there is the need to highlight and develop a novel philosophical approach in the treatments for oral diseases that will necessarily involve non-conventional approaches.

The growth of any country or society depends on the number of youth dwelling in that country but according to recent statistical data we soon will have older people more than children and more people at extreme old age than ever before. The number of people aged 65 or older is projected to grow from an estimated 524 million in 2010 to nearly 1.5 billion in 2050. Geriatrics (Jarachikitsa) is the branch of medicine dealing exclusively with the problems of aging and the diseases of elderly. The term Rasayana (rejuvination) refers to nourishment or nutrition. Rasayana therapy act essentially on nutrition dynamics and rejuvenate the body on both physical and mental levels. The problems of health due to modernization can be solved by increasing resistance against diseases and psychological improvement by implementing Rasayana therapy. Aging (Jara) is one among the Swabhavika Vyadhis. Jara Chikitsa is one among the Astanga of Ayurveda which is specifically dedicated for geriatric care. As per estimation, India currently has around 75 million persons over 65 years. By proper administration of Rasayana therapy as preventive tool one can delay Jara Janita Vyadhis to occur. This paper highlights the role of Rasayana in geriatric care.

Placental insufficiency, maternal malnutrition, and other causes of intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) can significantly affect short-term growth and long-term health. Following IUGR, there is an increased risk for cardiovascular disease and Type 2 Diabetes. The etiology of these diseases is beginning to be elucidated, and premature aging or cellular senescence through increased oxidative stress and DNA damage to telomeric ends may be initiators of these disease processes. This paper will explore the areas where telomere and telomerase biology can have significant effects on various tissues in the body in IUGR outcomes.

Pregnancy results in profound physiological changes in the cardiovascular system, yet these changes are completely reversible. It is apparent that vaso-active factors, some as yet probably unidentified, which act as humoral or local autocrine or paracrine regulators of vasular resistance, play a major role in these cardio-vascular changes. This role may be heightened in pregnancy when there has to be a large increase in blood flow to the uterus and placenta while maintaining adequate flow to other vascular beds. Our knowledge of the mechanisms of action of these vaso-active factors and their interactions with each other still remains incomplete. Alterations in synthesis and action of these vaso-active factors may occur in pregnancies associated with pregnancy-induced hypertension, pre-eclampsia or intra-uterine growth retardation. Investigation of such alterations may help to elucidate the roles of vaso-active factors in both normal and pathological situations. The gestational hormones oestrogen and progesterone, are obviously prime candidates as overall regulators of the cardiovascular changes of pregnancy and as agents which alter the synthesis or action of other vaso-active factors. Currently, much attention is being focused on the role of local autocrine or paracrine vaso-active factors which may be produced by the endothelium or by the underlying vascular smooth muscle cells and alterations in their production or action in the hyptertensive disorders of pregnancy. The endothelium forms the largest endocrine organ within the body and so its importance in the mediation of vascular events should not be under-estimated. The principal objective of this review is to examine the roles of these many autocrine and paracrine vaso-active factors during pregnancy and their relation with the overall regulation of the vascular system. Changes which may occur and be involved in the aetiology of pre-eclampsia and growth retardation will also be examined.

Ayurveda is a science of life, which protect health and promote life (Ayu) of human being. Geriatric disorder is growing problem in today’s era; by 2050 one fifth of the world will be older than 65 years. As per Acharya Sushruta Jara is naturally occurring disease like Kshut(Hunger), Pipasa(Thirst), Nidra(Sleep), and Mrityu (Death) under phenomenon of Svabhavbala roga.Acharya Vaghbhata explained Vata dosha is predominant in old age so there will be more chances of catabolic activities in the body cells. Sarvadhatuvyuhakarta is the function of Vata dosha which will be predominant in old age causes Dhatukshaya. Predominant Vata dosha and Dhatukshaya leads to many degenerative diseases and it also affect the organ like Netra.Indriyaabhivahan,Sarvendriyayojan and Indriyatarpana (along with other dosha) are the normal functions of prakrita Vata, also Preenan,Jeevan ,Lepana and Sneha are the normal functions of Dhatu. Acharya Sushruta explained four types of Patals (layer of eyeball), these Patalas are Dhatuashrit.During ageing the changes occur in patalas manifested by Timir, ARMD and Linganaash like diseases.Dhatukshaya and its effect on netra occurs continuously. To break down this vicious chain Ayurveda has it’own Rasayana (Rejuvenation) therapy which deals with old age. Rasayana helpful in balancing Vata and improving Dhatukshaya. With the help of Rasayana therapy we can delay pathogenesis of Dhatukshaya and ageing, ultimately it prevents diseases for some period.

In our previous publication, it was shown that growth hormone (GH) excess in acromegaly affects the cell integrity of somatic cells through increased DNA damage throughout the body and impaired DNA repair pathways. Acromegaly is a hormone disorder pathological condition that develops as a result of growth hormone over-secretion from the pituitary gland. We produced a zebrafish acromegaly model to gain a better understanding of the excess GH effects at the cellular level. Here we show that the acromegaly zebrafish model progressively reduced the number of stem cells in different organs and increased oxidative stress in stem cells. Importantly, the decline in the stem cells was even more apparent than in aged fish. The controversy and debate over the use of GH as an anti-aging therapy have been going on for several years. In this study, excess GH induced aging signs such as increased senescence-associated (SA)-β-galactosidase staining of abdominal skin and similarity of the pattern of gene expression between aged and acromegaly zebrafish. Thus, this study highlights the role of excess GH in acromegaly stem cells.

Objective: To observe efficacy of Timolol maleate 0.5% by topical and surface application in infantile superficial capillary hemangioma of eyelid. Methods: This multi-centered clinical case series was carried out at Ophthalmology Department of Bilawal Medical College and Institute of Ophthalmology, LUMHS, Jamshoro from November 2019 to May 2020. We included 14 subjects. All the patients were subjected to detailed clinical examination. Before starting the topical beta blockers, the enrolled subjects had obtained the expert opinion by pediatrician to rule out any preexisting developmental cardio vascular disease. Topical beta blockers 0.5% drops were thus started with, against the ongoing finding of superficial capillary hemangioma of eyelid. Results: There was significant regression in size of infantile hemangioma after treating with topical timolol maleate 0.5%. We included 14 subjects in this study. Mean±SD age of patients was 4.94. Complete regression was seen in 08 subjects at the end of 12 weeks (64%) while 03 were completely cured at 08 weeks (21%) and 01 patient lost follow up with us. No significant ocular and systemic side effects were noted. Conclusion: Topical timolol maleate 0.5% can be the first-line treatment modality for superficial capillary hemangiomas due to its better safety and efficacy. doi: https://doi.org/10.12669/pjms.37.7.4317 How to cite this:Junejo MS, Rebecca, Memon MN, Shaikh SP. The presented article presented data confirming the antioxidant properties of ferulic acid, which is associated with inhibition of the intensity of lipid peroxidation in the body of day-old turkeys, expressed in a decrease in the concentration of its cytotoxic products formed at different stages of the peroxide cascade: isolated double bonds (IDB) by 1,2 times, diene conjugates (DC) 1,6 times (p<0,001,.1,1), triene conjugates (TC) and oxodienic conjugates (ODC) 1,4 times, Schiff bases (SB) 12,02 times compared to the control. This helped to optimize the central metabolic processes, in particular carbohydrate metabolism. The paper analyzes these changes, presents and explains their relationship with the increase in quantitative and qualitative indicators of young turkeys at the early stages of ontogenesis. Thus, the superiority of the experimental group over the control of hatching turkey poults was 0,01% (p<6,66), the hatchability of eggs was 8,23% with a tendency to an increase in live weight of individuals of day-old age by 0,5%, the score according to the «Pasgar» scales and «Optistart» by 0,05 (p<1,0) and 0,001 points (p<XNUMX), respectively.
