TEACHER EFFECTIVENESS AND TEMPERAMENT

In the present study, an attempt has been made to understand the relationship between teacher effectiveness and temperament. Descriptive survey method of research was used for this study. The sample consisted of 427 secondary school teachers, which were randomly selected. Teacher Effectiveness and Gender constituted the independent classificatory variables while Temperament was criterion variable. Teacher Effectiveness Scale (TES) prepared by Kumar and Mutha (1974) and Dimensions of Temperament Scale (DTS) by Chadha and Chandana (1984) were used to collect data from the teachers. For testing the hypotheses, two-way-analysis of variance technique was employed. The analysis revealed that most effective teachers were found to be higher on three traits of temperament i.e. 'Ascendant', 'Accepting' and 'Tolerance' than least effective teachers. Gender differences were found on two temperaments viz. 'Cooperative' and 'Warmth'.

The aim of the present study was to investigate the relationship of Teacher effectiveness among Secondary school teachers of Government and Private sector in relation to their type of the institution and gender. A sample of 160 (80 Male Teachers and 80 Female Teachers) was carried out from govt. schools and private school of Ahmedabad Districts. Data was collected using by Teacher Effectiveness scale by Dr. Parmod Kumar and D.N.Mutha (1985). The data were analyzed by using t-test. The Results revealed that significant deference observed between teacher effectiveness of Government and Private Secondary school teachers, Teacher Effectiveness more in Private Secondary School Teachers. It is also found that, significant difference in Government and Private Female Secondary School teachers and the private Female teacher’s Effectiveness is more. Also the result shows that Government Secondary School Teachers have more Teachers effectiveness than Private Secondary School Female Teachers Male and Female private school teachers.

This study examined the influence of teachers’ emotional intelligence (EI) on academic achievement and outlined the model with the mediating effect of job satisfaction (JS) between the EI and academic achievement. Survey method was employed to collect the information from 728 secondary school teachers belong to Himachal Pradesh, a state of Northern India, through various statistical tools. The results of the study showed that teachers’ emotional abilities were significantly and positively associated with academic achievement of students and showed R2 61% variance in academic achievement. The relationship between EI and academic achievement of students is partially mediated by JS.

  The present study aimed to investigate the reality of employing the teachers Islamic Sciences at the secondary stage of the Collaborative websites in their teaching practices, and to visualize a proposal to activate it. The study followed the descriptive Survey method. A questionnaire was applied to a sample of (206) teachers of Islamic Sciences in the secondary stage in Riyadh. The results of the study found that the degree of employment of Islamic Sciences teachers in the secondary stage of the participatory websites as a whole came in a medium degree with an average of (2.71),the study reached the first dimension was: YouTube ranked first with an average of (3.09) with a (medium) approval, while the fourth dimension was: Tweet The third dimension was: blogs ranked third with an average score of (2.60) with a (weak) approval level. The second dimension: wikis came in last place with an average of (2.53) With a low approval level. The study also presented a suggested proposal for activating Collaborative websites in the educational process.

The revitalization and strengthening of the education system depends on teachers. They play crucial role for the developments of educational standards in the country. This demands teachers to be more effective in the classroom and be optimistic with high Emotional intelligence to influence the students. In the present study, the investigator analyzed the level of Teacher Effectiveness, and Emotional Intelligence of government secondary school teachers, and to find out the relationship among both the variables. The data were collected from 60 Secondary School Teachers of Balasore district using Teacher Effectiveness Scale by Pramod Kumar and D.N. Mutha (1974),Modified version of Emotional Intelligence Scale by Krishnappa V.K. (2008) and self made personal data sheet. The collected data were analyzed by using Mean, SD, t- test and Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation and the findings revealed that (i) Government Secondary School Teachers of different academic stream do not differ both in Teacher Effectiveness and Emotional Intelligence. (ii) There is no significance of difference between Male and Female government Secondary School Teachers both in Teacher Effectiveness and Emotional Intelligence. (iii) There is no relationship between Teacher Effectiveness and Emotional Intelligence.

PurposeThe purpose of this study is to investigate how degree-holding secondary school teachers cope in a recessive economy by embracing hybrid entrepreneurship (HE). Specifically, we investigated how comparison with referent others, underemployment and relative deprivation led to HE.Design/methodology/approachThe study adopted a cross-sectional research design. We used snowball and purposive sampling techniques to recruit 303 bachelor’s degree holders teaching in Nigerian public secondary schools in two states of the federation (Ondo and Ekiti states). We analyzed the data with regression path analysis and controlled for age and gender.FindingsThe results of this study showed the following. First, teachers were high in the feeling of pay underemployment and relative deprivation. Second, pay underemployment and relative deprivation directly led to HE. Third, teachers were indirectly high in HE through either pay underemployment or relative deprivation. Finally, underemployment and relative deprivation serially mediate the relationship between referent others and HE.Research limitations/implicationsOverall, the results suggest that teachers’ involvement in HE is necessity-driven to cope with the recessive Nigerian economy. However, future research should focus on a more experimental approach to determine the cause-effect relationship.Originality/valueThis is the first study to investigate how workers embrace HE to cope with the consequences of a recessive economy.

The investigator intended to examine the attitude of secondary school teachers towards value patterns of education in relation to Gender, Teaching effectiveness and Locality. The investigator adopted a descriptive survey method for the current study. The researcher selected by the random sampling method for data collection following four High schools of Cuttack District. Further, the investigator adopted an attitude scale developed by Rensis Likert for Data collection. For analysis of data, the researcher used the ‘t’ test. The findings showed no significant difference is found between the attitude of Male and Female Teachers on Value Education. Similarly, there is no significant difference exists between Rural and Urban teachers in their attitude towards Value Education.

The existing study was expected to identify the relationship between organizational commitment and demographic variation of private secondary school teachers. The study’s objectives were; (i) to identify the relationship between qualification and organizational commitment of secondary school teachers, (ii)to find out the relationship between marital status and organizational commitment of secondary school teachers, and (iii) to identify the relationship between teaching experience and organizational commitment of secondary school teachers. The nature of the study was descriptive and quantitative and for the collection of data, the survey method was used. In Rawalpindi and Islamabad, there was 13764 private secondary school, work. Through simple random sampling techniques, 860 teachers were randomly selected. Organizational Commitment Scale (OCS) developed by Allen and Meyer (1997) was used as a research instrument in this study. The researcher individually visited the sampled schools and collected the data. To test hypotheses, analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used. It was found that there is no correlation among academic, professional qualification, and marital status with the organizational commitment of teachers. It is further concluded that there is a relationship between the experience of teachers and the organizational commitment of teachers. The teachers have the experience of 1-5, 6-10, 11-15, and 16-20 years are more committed toward their jobs.

The main objective of the study to investigate the Teacher Effectiveness, Emotional Intelligence and Competence of secondary school teachers. For the present study, 480 teachers and 480 students were listed from 120 schools as a sample. The present study is an ex-post facto type of study involving descriptive survey method. Co-efficient of correlation and t-test are used to analyze the results. The main findings of the present study reveal that the co-efficient of correlation between teacher effectiveness and emotional intelligence of secondary school teachers with respect to total sample study is .70, which is significant beyond .01 levels. It indicates that the relationship between the two variables is positive. Thus a high significant positive relationship is found between teacher effectiveness and emotional intelligence.

The purpose of this research was to investigate the relationship between teachers’ fear of missing out (FoMO) levels and their cyberloafing behaviour and to reveal whether teachers’ FoMO and their cyberloafing behaviour differ according to their gender. The sample of the research consisted of 702 secondary school teachers working in state schools within the borders of Istanbul in 2019-2020 education year. According to the research, it was identified that the level of teachers’ FoMO levels and cyberloafing behaviours were moderate. It was detected that teachers’ FoMO levels differed significantly according to gender. With this result, male teachers’ FoMO levels were higher than female teachers’ FoMO levels. Similarly, it was observed that there was a significant difference between teachers’ cyberloafing behaviour and gender. According to this result, it was found that male teachers’ mean score of cyberloafing behaviour was higher than female teachers’ mean score of cyberloafing behaviour in all sub-scales. In addition, a positive significant relationship between teachers’ FoMO and their cyberloafing behaviour was observed.
