This research is qualitative research with the type of case study to describe the implementation of e-learning based on HOTS in higher education. E-learning is a necessity that must be used by lecturers when teaching at universities, especially during the current pandemic. The learning must be based on HOTS as the demands of the industrial revolution 4.0 and society 5.0, to produce prospective teachers who can guide their students to have the ability to solve problems in life. The research subjects were 196 people who took the Philosophy of Science course at the PPKN PIPS FKIP Study Program, Mataram University. Data were collected through observation techniques, interview documentation, and tests. After conducting a holistic and specific qualitative analysis, the results show that HOTS-based e-learning is carried out through the stages of preparation for the implementation of learning and evaluation for 16 learning activities. The contents of the activities include discussion of textual material, independent contextual exercises, and completing exams. During the activity, lecturers and students gave positive responses to various supporting factors and existing challenges. This activity has an impact on the acquisition of positive student learning outcomes. As a follow-up suggestion, full vigilance is needed to seek more varied activities to be actively involved in learning activities and successfully pass lectures.

Abstract During the COVID-19 pandemic, lecturers carry out online learning and this condition also force student to learn independently. One alternative solution given is online-based problem-solving approach. This approach are suitable implemented in the mathematics Informatics course. The Approach challenges students to be able to express every result of thinking, transform information into various forms of representation, as well as the ability to adapt to online learning during this pandemic. This research is case study research that aims to analyse the Communication Skills, Visual thinking, and Adaptability (COVid) of students in the mathematics informatics course through Online-Based Problem-Solving Approach. This course examines combinatorics and pigeon holes principle. This lesson is useful in the context of making software that requires certain calculations and logic. The subjects of this study were second semester students of the 2020/2021 academic year at the Informatics Study Program at Univeritas Cokroaminoto Palopo. Data was collected by using assignments, questionnaires, and interviews to obtain valid data. The results show that only a few students are able to express every result of thinking, transform information into various forms of representation, as well as the ability to adapt to online learning during this pandemic.

The emergence of online learning offers the opportunities that are not possessed by the traditional face-to-face learning environment. Combining the strengths of the online learning and face-to-face learning, known as blended learning, is believed to enhance the quality of learning. Different subjects may have different designs of blended learning because there is no specific formula for the best practices of blended learning. This paper reports a study investigating the implementation of blended learning in a paragraph writing course. The purposes were to investigate the blended learning activities carried out in the paragraph writing course and to find out the extent to which it affected students’ writing paragraph performance. The participants of this case study, who were selected purposively, involved one lecturer and six students of a paragraph writing class. The techniques for collecting data included interviews, observations, and document analysis, and the data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model. Ten blended learning activities, including five activities in face-to-face settings and five activities online, were identified in the course. The students’ paragraph writing performance seen from the result of final test was satisfying, indicating that the use of blended learning had a positive effect on students’ writing performance.

One of the many sectors affected by the Covid-19 pandemic is education. This resulted in a change in the learning system from face-to-face in class to online learning from home. Since online learning took place, students have experienced many difficulties in implementing it, especially in mathematics. Therefore, this research was conducted by the author to know the difficulties students encounter during online learning during a pandemic like this. The method applied in this research is the descriptive qualitative method. Observations involved SMP / MTs students with data collection techniques through questionnaires distributed online via WhatsApp and research subjects were 30 respondents. From the data that has been received, the results obtained are that most students like the Google Classroom application as an online-based learning medium, obstacles that are often experienced by students include limited quota, unsupportive signals, many tasks, and not understanding the material presented by the teacher. In addition, mathematics is considered difficult due to several factors: (1) using a lot of formulas, (2) not understanding the concept of the material, and (3) the limited space for interaction between students and teachers.

The purpose of this study is to describe the learning carried out during the pandemic. This research uses descriptive qualitative methods, with the aim of finding and extracting information about ongoing problems or problems discussed related to the covid-19 pandemic. Online learning is a solution to continuing to carry out teaching and learning activities, but it is only temporary due to many factors, both from internal and external. However, to overcome this problem, learning is carried out face to face by complying with health protocols and learning for no more than 4 hours, thus teaching and learning activities can still run smoothly, altouhgt not as usual.

The research aims to investigate how guided research-based learning (GRBL) helps students of an Elementary Education Study Program (EESP) in carrying out research and preparing scientific articles, besides mastering the fundamental concepts of science. This is an experimental one-shot case study research design, which involved seven master’s degree students from our EESP. The result shows that students’ capability is improved, but they still face difficulties in every step of writing publishable scientific articles.

Pademi Covid-19 has disturbed the learning process in a face-to-face manner. Therefore online learning solutions need to be sought as an answer to these problems. The aim of the study was to obtain an overview of the implementation of online learning in the Biology Education Study Program of the Teaching and Education Faculty (FKIP) of Jambi University as an effort to suppress the spread of covid-19 in the campus environment. Research subjects were students of Biology Education Study Program. Data collected by telephone interview. Data analysis was performed using the interactive analysis technique of Miles & Huberman. The results showed that: (1) students already have the basic facilities needed to take part in online learning; (2) online learning has flexibility in its implementation and is able to encourage the emergence of learning independence and motivation to be more active in learning; and (3) distance learning encourages the emergence of social distancing behavior and minimizes the emergence of student crowds so that it is deemed able to reduce the potential for the spread of Covid-19 in the campus environment.

Qualitative case study research can be a valuable tool for answering complex, real-world questions. This method is often misunderstood or neglected due to a lack of understanding by researchers and reviewers. This tutorial defines the characteristics of qualitative case study research and its application to a broader understanding of stuttering that cannot be defined through other methodologies. This article will describe ways that data can be collected and analyzed.
