Objective: This study aims to prepare the taste-masked granules of Mirtazapine by mass extrusion technique and formulate it into an oral dispersible tablet using different super disintegrates. Methods: Taste masked granules of mirtazapine were prepared by mass extrusion technique using Eudragit EPO in different ratios. The drug-polymer ratio was optimized based on the percent drug release in SSF and SGF. Taste masking efficacy of drug-polymer complex was determined by developing the bitterness threshold value of Mirtazapine. The selected drug-polymer complex was formulated into an oro-dispersible tablet by direct compression method. A randomized design was used to investigate individual effect of three different super disintegrates each in different concentrations. Ten formulations were developed including a controlled formulation without the addition of superdisintegrants. A comparative study was done based on various pre-compression and post-compression parameters. Results: Eudragit EPO was able to mask the bitter taste of Mirtazapine effectively in 1:2 ratio by mass extrusion method. The minimum disintegration time and wetting time was found to be 13.6±2.7 and 18.13±0.24 seconds with the formulation containing crospovidone 5% (F9). It was found that the wetting time and disintegration time followed the order SSG>CCS>CPV. The selected best formulation was subjected to an incompatibility study design. The IR spectrum showed that all the excipients were chemically compatible. Conclusion: Thus, in this study unpalatable taste of Mirtazapine was masked using Eudragit EPO polymer by mass extrusion technique, and superdisintegrants were added to prepare orally disintegrating tablets of Mirtazapine. This research work suggests a rapid, simple and cost effective method for formulating Mirtazapine ODT.

The present research work illustrates the development and validation of RP HPLC method for simultaneous estimation of tenofovir disproxil fumarate, emtricitabine and rilpivirine hydrochloride in bulk and formulated in a pharmaceutical dosage form as a nanosupension. Antiretroviral drug treatment is the primary line of therapy for treating HIV. The multicomponent system formulated as a nanosuspension evidenced increased hydrophilicity, potency and decreased side effects. The separation was carried out by using efficient BDS hypersil C18 HPLC column with empower software. Combination method of Precipitation—ultrasonic homogenization was used for the preparation of the nanosuspension. The mobile phase used was methanol, water, acetonitrile (80:13.4:6.6) v/v and flow rate 1mL /min. The developed method was thus validated as per ICH guidelines for various parameters whose results advocated the reliability of the method. The results for parameters viz. retention times of tenofovir disproxil fumarate, emtricitabine and rilpivirine were 3.09 min, 2.78 min and 3.68 min, linearity range was between 7.5-90, 5-60, 0.625-7.5µg/mL, respectively. Thus the new RP-HPLC method is optimum, reliable and can be used for the simultaneous estimation of tenofovir disproxil fumarate, emtricitabine and rilpivirine hydrochloride.

In the present investigation an attempt has been made to formulate medicated lozenges containing amoxicillin trihydrate. There are several amoxicillin trihydrate dosage forms in the market such as tablet, capsule, suspension and syrup. Still there is a need for more variant dosage forms which acts effectively and locally. The benefits of the present research work is to increase the retention of the dosage form in oral cavity for increased bioavailability, reduction in gastric irritation and bypassing first pass metabolism. The lozenges were prepared by heating and congealing method employing polyethylene glycol 1500 as matrix base, saccharin sodium (artificial sweetener), stevia (natural sweetener), xanthan gum (polymer), sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (polymer) as other exciepients. The prepared medicated lozenges were characterized for drug content uniformity, hardness, thickness, weight variation, friability and dissolution by standard pharmacopeal methods. The results of the evaluation tests obtained were within the limits. Accelerated stability studies were conducted as per ICH guidelines and found that there wasn’t any substantial interaction among the drug, flavour and colour and the prepared formulations were found to be stable. Formulations were tested for drug exciepients interactions subjecting to IR spectral and DSC analyses. The results revealed that there was no major interactions between the drug and polymers used for the preparation of lozenges.Dhaka Univ. J. Pharm. Sci. 14(1): 61-70, 2015 (June)

The research work concerns the development in the Italian literature of the French theme of Neuf Preux, and Particularly Took into account a crown of sonnets of nine famous men linked to an alleged cycle of paintings attributed to Giotto's in the palace of Castel Nuovo in Naples. The survey highlighted how in medieval Italian literature, beyond the more or less explicit recovery of the French literary tradition, occupies a prominent place the function that these poems take in the view of the literature of the time. The survey actually shows the two faces of the series of famous heroes, which on one hand is the mouthpiece of the political ideals and civil inspired by the courteous and Roman antiquities, on the other hand appears to be ripe fruit of a didactic poem in which the adherence to the motto of "ut pictura poesis" become as a kind of surface projection of images.

Begonia is very popular as a foliage plant and some begonia species grow up in pots. Begonia serratipetala and Begonia muricata are Indonesian begonia species that are well suited as indoor potted plants because of their leaf color and shape. In addition, the Bali Botanical Garden's landscape nursery would like to use these begonias for decoration in all buildings. However, it still needs to be studied how long the shelf life of the two begonias is in indoor environments in the highlands without air conditioning (AC). The aim of this study was to investigate the indoor shelf life of B. serratipetala and B. muricata. This research method consists of two steps. The first step was the acclimation phase and the second step was the indoor placement phase. Each begonia was repeated three times. Parameters studied included plant growth (plant height, leaves, leaf width, and leaf length) and environmental factors (sunlight intensity, air temperature, and humidity). The data were analyzed descriptively. Correlation analysis was used to determine the relationship between growth parameters and environmental factors. The result showed that both begonias (B. muricata and B. serratipetala) have similar persistence to indoor begonia species within two weeks, the ideal time for plant replacement

3-Acetamidobenzene -1, 2-dicarboxylic acid is a potential genotoxic impurity which gets formed during synthesis of 3- acetamidopthalic anhydride, a Key Starting Material (KSM) for manufacturing of apremilast API. During handling upon exposure to moisture, the anhydride ring of KSM 3-acetamidopthalic anhydride opens to form the acid. Hence Reverse phase HPLC method is not a feasible and robust option for estimation of this impurity. To overcome these problems a normal phase HPLC method is developed and proposed in this research work. Immobilized Chiral pack IA column from Daicel is used for estimation. n-Hexane and isopropyl alcohol in 90:10 (v/v) ratio modified with 0.1% trifluroacetic acid is used as mobile phase. Method is validated as per ICH guidelines. Limit of Detection (LOD) and Limit of Quantification (LOQ) are found to be 0.47 ppm (0.0047%) and 1.42 ppm (0.0142%), respectively. The method is linear over LOQ to 150%. Recovery is within limits (80-120%). Method is robust for parameters like mobile phase composition, flow rate, wavelength changes and column oven temperature.

ABSTRACT Given that watermelon is a crop widespread around the world, there is considerable interest in verifying how its seeds physiologically behave under unfavorable temperature conditions. This study aimed to evaluate the biochemical changes mobilization and reserves degradation, as well as the enzyme activity, during seed germination and initial growth of watermelon seedlings subjected to thermal stress, using temperature, germination percentage, germination rate and relative germination frequency over the incubation time as evaluation parameters. The experimental design was completely randomized, in a 5 x 3 factorial scheme, with five temperatures (17 ºC, 20 ºC, 25 ºC, 30 ºC and 35 ºC) and three cultivars (Charleston Gray, Fairfax and Crimson Sweet), with 4 replicates of 50 seeds. Germination, seedling growth, reserve degradation and stress protection system were evaluated. Thermal stress caused deleterious effects on watermelon seeds with germination capacity at well defined temperature limits, being 25 ºC the ideal temperature, with the highest percentage of normal seedlings. Sub- (17 ºC) and supra-optimal (30 ºC) temperatures presented more than 80 % of abnormal seedlings. The α-amylase enzyme activity is intense only at the beginning of germination. Under thermal stress, the proline contents increase mainly in the cotyledons.

The study of B100 biodiesel oxidation stability, and its conservation, is extremely important to control its quality, especially regarding storage. Many spices have shown antioxidant effect and are the targets of study. Knowing the oxidation process in greater detail allows a reliable storage period to be stipulated for the biodiesel without its degradation until the time of use. Results have shown that according to the accelerated stove method, the optimal mixture, composed of 100% of oregano extract, can confer a 535-day shelf life to biodiesel without evident oxidation. According to the results obtained by the Rancimat method, the ideal mixture consists of 100% rosemary, resulting in 483 days of storage. The application of the process variable showed that the accelerated stove method was more suitable to determine oxidative stability of biodiesel.
