The study investigates the incidence of domestic violence as reported by the press under the Movement Control Order MCO during the pandemic. The study also discussed how of issues of domestic violence can be handled now and during future pandemics. Empirical evidence used in this study is based on secondary data and qualitative analysis technique adopted to assess issues of domestic violence. To get relevant data, Google Scholar was used as a tool to access the major databases provided by Springer, IISTE, Tailor and Frances, Emerald, Elsevier, Sage and others. Data were obtained from newspaper articles and news articles from various online news outlets as the only source to access data of incidence of domestic violence in Malaysia during the lockdown. Results indicate a slight decrease in calls on domestic violence immediately after the MCO was implemented on March 18. It is found that the decrease was due to the fact that survivors or victims were trapped with the abusers and could not seek help or escape. The study further found that organizations attending to domestic violence cases reported a serious increase in number of abuse cases in Malaysia in the second week of the MCO thus between 18 and 31 March. The findings are intended to contribute to the narratives on violence against women now and during future disease outbreaks. It may also assist in the future improvement of the provision of services and interventions for victims of domestic violence during pandemic.

Purpose: This study's purpose is twofold: first, to examine the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on Bangladesh's travel and tourism sector and second, to suggest some recovery strategies to reduce the negative effects of this pandemic so that the travel and tourism sector of Bangladesh can bounce back. Methods: This study is qualitative in nature, applying secondary data analysis technique to collect data from various sources, which includes academic journals, news articles, and websites of different professional bodies like the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), Travel Owners Association of Bangladesh (TOAB), etc. Results: The findings indicate that Bangladesh's travel and tourism sector has been impacted considerably by the pandemic due to travel restrictions, movement control order, apprehension of Covid-19 contamination, etc. Some recovery strategies are also suggested to minimize the pandemic's detrimental consequences. Implications: This research provides guidelines for tourism marketers, which will help them to revise their strategies so that they will be able to remove anxiety from travelers’ minds and influence their visit intention. Originality: Covid-19 pandemic and its effects on the travel and tourism sector have been an emergent research area since travel and tourism is one of the severely affected sectors during the pandemic. However, so far insufficient studies related to this area in the context of Bangladesh are available. Hence, this research is an attempt to bridge this gap in the literature.

This study constructively focused on the polemic in a household regarding the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic that hits the world. For example, China experienced a high number of divorce cases during the emergency order period. In Malaysia, during the Movement Control Order (PKP), a number of wives lodged a significant number of complaints of conflict or domestic violence to the Malaysian Islamic Development Department (JAKIM). This indicates the existence of domestic conflict on a large scale. This study is timely to examine the causes of domestic violence conflict. The second objective is to identify the rights of wives in the household and the third, to propose a standard procedure of a nurturing household to the State Religious Affairs Department. This study used a qualitative methodology. The content analysis method was used with materials that were significantly library-sourced consisting of primary and secondary data. Primary data were collected from the book of fiqh to clarify the rights and responsibilities of the wife in the household. Secondary data is based on published material, such as textbooks, journal articles, online databases and the Internet. For analysis, this study used a combination of data analysis methods, namely descriptive, critical and comparative approaches.

The Movement Control Order (MCO) has been enforced on 18th March 2020 following the COVID-19 pandemic in Malaysia. This MCO is hoped that it is able to lower the number of infection cases in Malaysia. However, some groups of societal members were found as non-compliant with the MCO as reported by the online news. The objective of this research was to identify the display category on the news of non-compliant citizens in MCO period. Data analysis had been performed on online news starting from 18th March 2020 until 28th April 2020 which is based on MCO Phase 1 up to Phase 3. More than 100 online news headlines about MCO violation had been analysed using content analysis method based on Social Interaction Theory. The research outcome has found that social interaction plays a vital role in non-compliance issue within the enforcement period of MCO as reported by online news. The categories for non-compliance of MCO are as follows i) Movement without a valid reason, ii) Sports and recreational activities, iii) Religious activities, iv) Visiting and having feast, v) Chatting at restricted area, vi) Drugs-related violation, vii) Crime involvement and police record, viii) Gambling and Entertainment, ix) Intake of drinks leading to intoxication and imagination and x) Violation by foreigners. The use of social interaction theory in this research has clearly illustrated that non-compliance of MCO shows self-control of the perpetrator as a result of social control is very weak. Generally, the violation of MCO has a relationship with the environment of social interaction. Social interaction has a conflict that leads to deviant act which causes the breach of rules and norms.

This study focuses constructively on the polemics in the COVID-19 pandemic impact households that plague the world. China, for example, invites high divorce cases during the period of emergency orders in force. In Malaysia, during the movement control order (PKP), complaints of conflict or domestic violence to the Malaysian Islamic Development Department (JAKIM) received a high response from wives. This indicates the existence of domestic conflict on a large scale. Thus, this study coincides to examine the causes and factors of domestic violence conflict. The second objective is to identify the rights of the wife in the household and third, to propose the standard procedure of a caring household to the State Islamic Religious Affairs Department. This study uses a qualitative methodology. Content analysis methods are used with materials that are largely sourced from libraries consisting of primary and secondary data. The main data is collected from the book of fiqh to explain the rights and responsibilities of the wife in the household. Secondary data based on published material, such as textbooks, journal articles, online databases and the Internet. For analysis, this study uses a combination of data analysis methods, namely descriptive, critical and comparative approaches. The findings show that there are elements of narcissism and gaslighting in the domestic crisis that have a harmonious impact on household institutions. Movement control orders also contribute as a strong factor in the conflict experienced by married couples. Therefore, a standard operating procedure mechanism for caring households needs to be established at the level of the State Islamic Religious Affairs Department to protect the rights of the wife and then develop a strong and strong character to avoid the shackles of negative marriage institutions.

The problem of domestic violence (DV) in Malaysia has not yet been completely curbed. A significant increase in DV cases can be seen during the period of the Movement Control Order (MCO). This phenomenon is of great concern as the COVID19 pandemic is not over and the potential for MCO directives on areas with an increase in COVID19 cases is high. This paper aims to discuss the protection afforded to DV victims in Malaysia by the Domestic Violence Act 1994 (Act 521) (AKRT 1994). Using a descriptive approach and library research, the provisions of AKRT 1994 are critically analyzed. The findings of the study show that the amendments to AKRT 1994 in 2017 have improved the existing act. Among the main improvements are the expansion of the scope and definition of KRT as well as the introduction of the Emergency Protection Order (EPO). As a result, at present, not only victims of physical abuse, victims of emotional, psychological, and financial abuse are also eligible for protection under AKRT. In addition, victims can also seek immediate protection through EPO as it does not require the court’s permission which would normally be time-consuming. This 2017 amendment makes AKRT more proactive because it has taken into account the various problems faced by DV victims over the years. However, to make AKRT effective, victims need to have the courage to come forward to seek protection and justice.

Abstract Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the psychological distress and its associated factors among cancer survivors in Malaysia during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: An anonymous Internet-based study was conducted between 23 April and 26 June 2020. During the study period, the country underwent Phase 3 and Phase 4 of the Movement Control Order (MCO), Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO), and Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO). Psychological distress was measured using the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS), which is a 14-item self-assessment scale for measuring distress (total HADS score (HADS-T)) with two subscales, namely anxiety (HADS-A) and depression (HADS-D). Results: From a total of 631 responses received, the proportion of participants with abnormal anxiety and depression was 29.0% and 20.9%, respectively. Distress was reported in 23.0% of the respondents. A total of 16.45% had combined abnormal anxiety and depression. The highest HADS-A (6.10; 95% CI 5.64‒6.56), HADS-D (5.61; 95% CI 5.14‒6.08), and HADS-T (11.71; 95% CI 10.84‒12.58) scores were reported among respondents during Phase 4 of the MCO. Partial least squares-based structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) revealed that self-perceived health status, perceived susceptibility, and severity of COVID-19 have the greatest effect, leading to higher HADS-A, HADS-D, and HADS-T scores. Conclusion: Heightened psychological distress was evident in cancer survivors particularly during the enforcement of the MCO over COVID-19. Providing support to address cancer survivors’ psychological and emotional needs during the COVID-19 pandemic is essential.Implication for cancer survivors: Cancer survivors or their carers should be made aware of the high psychological risk during infectious disease outbreaks and seek timely support.

As a result of the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic, stock market players issued their quick response on how coronavirus has affected the performance of firms whereby most of the affected sectors are airlines, tourism, hotels, transportation and many more. This has led to an increase in the unemployment rate worldwide.  Considering this global issue, this study was aimed at investigating the relationship between unemployment with a number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 and firms’ performance as well as the controlling factors across seven (7) countries. Secondary data were utilized with the data obtained from Bloomberg and Worldometers website. The dataset for dependent as proxy by unemployment rate and explanatory variables proxies by COVID-19 and firm’s performance were then tested using multivariate regression approach. Finally, from the study, it is suggested that an increase in the number of Covid-19 cases will affect business performance as controlled by macroeconomics factors which lead to a significant positive relationship between the unemployment rates in all the countries of this study. This factor may affect the government’s decision to implement the Movement Control Order (MCO), for instance by the Malaysian Government. By Covid-19 vaccine development in the market nowadays, hopefully, the spread can be mitigated and firms’ performance can return to normalcy to avoid increasing rate of unemployment in the world.
