Falsified medicines for human use are an increasing problem in Europe. The Falsified Medicines Directive (FMD) 2011/62/EU provides measures to prevent the entry of falsified medicines into the legal supply chain by requiring the placing of safety features consisting of a unique identifier (Ul) and an anti-tampering device (ATD). Some concerns have arisen from patients regarding the effectiveness of UI and ATD in terms of safety. In contrast, the relevance of the supply source as a key point for patients and pharmacists, especially in hospitals, has not been sufficiently considered by the FMD. Endorsing more Good Procurement Practices and Good Distribution Practices may be more effective. The implementation of the FMD in hospitals is wasting human resources and increasing costs, which will likely result in a poor positive outcome. At both European and national levels, it is now urgent to mitigate the consequences of the FMD by updating the legislation.

Salt is a strategic commodity that needs to be maintained. The salt problem has not resolved, so it is necessary to find the right solution for salt development. The study was carried out in Sampang Regency as a salt-producing area which was proposed for salt approval and formulated a policy for salt development. The research method used is the DPSIR method (Driving Power /; Pressure; State; Impact; Response). The main problems with developing salt are the impartiality of local salt prices, the supply chain system, changes in pond function, climate uncertainty, and inadequate infrastructure. Efforts must be made to develop salt are the modernization of the production process, controlled of salt price regulations, market search, improvement of human resources and structuring of supporting facilities for salt production should be carried out.

Medicine shortages may negatively impact patient care and the patient experience. Shortages should be a priority of industry, supply chain stakeholders and national competent authorities, and deserve more than empathy or “lip-service” but serious engagement and action. Under the overarching principle that without correct measurements in place there cannot be any improvement in overall performance (1), stakeholders in the pharmaceutical supply chain, notably pharmaceutical manufacturers have made the call for all relevant sources of information to be used in order to provide additional intelligence about the root causes and drivers of shortages, including the identification of bottlenecks in the supply chain. This paper outlines a proposal for using the data stored in the interoperable network of national repositories being set up in the context of the Falsified Medicines Directive (Directive 2011/62/EU) and its Delegated Regulation 2016/161/EU on safety features for providing additional intelligence in monitoring shortages. The paper analyses the potential feasibility and readiness of using this data for monitoring shortages as well as the strengths and weaknesses of the approach. We explore also what are some of the other complementary data sources that could be analyzed in conjunction with the data in the repository system to sharpen the overall analysis. Lastly, we provide a theoretical but concrete use case for using the abovementioned data for better informing decisions to prevent and mitigate shortages. In doing so, we explain the interlink between patient needs at country level, demand from economic actors, intra-EU parallel trade and manufacturer-imposed supply quotas and propose a mechanism for collaboration between national competent authorities and supply chain stakeholders for early detection and action to prevent medicine shortages from occurring.

Based on qualitative descriptive analytical method using framework modified by Vorst, the result of research shows that the condition of management of supply at PT. Aryazzka Indoputra in the development stage. FSCM analysis results describe the network structure, chain management, business process, and supply chain performance, in the stage of developing and running well, but the condition of human resources, physical resources, technological resources, and capital resources owned by PT. Aryazzka Indoputra still needs to be improved. Based on the IFE matrix results with a total value of 3,079 and in the EFE matrix having a total value of 3.528 the current supply chain position description in the IE quadrant matrix mapping resides in the cell position I. This illustrates that the vanname shrimp supply chain is in the Growth position, which is a strategy of focusing the company in a line that has become the company's choice to be developed. The formulation of supply chain strategy for PT. Aryazzka Indopura based on the analysis of IFE, EFE, IE, and SWOT, and QSPM, get some interesting strategy, a strategy that is very interesting is the strategy (W and T), namely: Strengthening partnerships between companies with existing HUMAN RESOURCES, and strengthening of relations of cooperation between all members of the supply chain involved. In order to unite all members of the supply chain so that products that are produced and distributed in a timely manner, the right amount so as to minimize the price and can meet the needs of local and overseas consumers.

Minimizing the impact of electronic waste (e-waste) on the environment through designing an effective reverse supply chain (RSC) is attracting the attention of both industry and academia. To obtain this goal, this study strives to develop an e-waste RSC model where the input parameters are fuzzy and risk factors are considered. The problem is then solved through crisp transformation and decision-makers are given the right to choose solutions based on their satisfaction. The result shows that the proposed model provides a practical and satisfactory solution to compromise between the level of satisfaction of constraints and the objective value. This solution includes strategic and operational decisions such as the optimal locations of facilities (i.e., disassembly, repairing, recycling facilities) and the flow quantities in the RSC.

PurposeThe purpose of this study is to investigate the role that communication, trust and digital transformation can play in the relationship between joint problem-solving and supply chain resilience. More specifically, the authors try to examine the possibility of digital transformation as a replacement for trust within a joint problem-solving context.Design/methodology/approachA survey instrument was developed and administrated to manufacturing firms within the United Kingdom and the United States. Based on data collected from 291 senior managers, multiple linear regressions were conducted through a customized process model to test the proposed hypotheses.FindingsThe results point to the actual impact of digital transformation being far more complicated than the initial benefits that it appears to bring within a supply chain. Thus, technology is only effective when applied within the right context. The authors showcase that the trio of digital transformation, trust and joint problem-solving can be highly valuable to establish supply chain resilience and that further investigation on the interrelationships between these concepts is warranted.Practical implicationsManufacturing firms that aim to adopt new technologies should not consider advanced digital technologies as an alternative to trust. While digital transformation can improve resource sharing and integration, governance mechanisms–such as trust–will remain the cornerstones of strategic supplier relationships. Therefore, supply chain partners must strive to achieve a balance between trust and the right type of digital technology.Originality/valueThis study contributes to the growing literature focusing on the role that digital transformation can play in developing supply chain capabilities. It adds an early empirical insight on the role of technology and governance in joint problem-solving and supply chain resilience.

A discussion of the motivational aspects of alcohol use progressing from the magical and spiritual to the scientific discussion of alcohol as a drug among drugs. Emphasis is placed upon the recognition of the two major groups of substances available for human use; the magical and non-magical substances. These are carefully contrasted in the text. Alcohol is discussed in terms of a non-magical substance, satisfying all the stated criteria. Its use by people is determined by education, not legal control; by understanding it as one drug among many, it becomes one more human resource in the family of human resources. The article stresses the need to examine people and their choices rather than the substances they use.

Human resource is critically important aspect of organizations. The functions and roles of human resource have developed from administrative matter into supporting the organization to run the managerial and strategic processes. Expertise, knowledge, and experience of existing human resources in organizations should be suitable and allocated at the right time and place. By properly manage the human resources, organization would be able to obtain qualified human resources that have high commitment to organization. High commitment to organizations will lead to a higher effort in supporting organizational success. In order to gain employees’ commitment to the organizations, management should put some efforts that ensure all aspects of employees’ commitment are fulfilled. This paper is intended to find the significant influence of perceived organizational support (POS) on the dimensions of employee’s commitment, comprising of the affective commitment, continuance commitment, and normative commitment, and to find which one of those dimensions are dominantly influence by POS. This paper employed 50 respondents that were sampled using convenient random sampling. Result showed that there were significant influences of POS on employee’s commitment either in affective commitment. POS can influence the employees’ organizational commitment in all dimensions. This implies that in order to improve organizational commitment, management should provide appropriate managerial supports and ensure that the supports are in line with employee’s aspirations and needs.
