This paper discusses the experimental findings on lay-ing quails when their diets were supplemented with iodine and starch mixture. Five groups of 120 comparable quails bred in the Omsk Region were formed; the sex ratio was 1:4. The first group was the control; the birds were fed the main diet without the iodine supplement; the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th groups were trial groups where the main diet was supplemented with iodine (potassium iodide) + starch (1:4) immediately before feeding. The dosages of the tested product in the trial groups were as following (in terms of iodine, mg per 100 g of feed): the 2nd group -0.05; 3rd -0.075; 4th -0.10; 5th -0.125. The experiment lasted for 180 days. Throughout the experiment, the largest number of eggs was obtained in the 3rd trial group -15240 eggs, more by 18.1% than in the control group (P ≥ 0.99). The laying quail day egg production in the 3rd trial group was 25.4 eggs, more by 13.0% than that in the control group. In the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th trial groups, the average egg weight was less than in the control, respectively, by 4.5; 7.1 and 8.0%. The number of produced eggs in the 3rd trial group was more than in the control group by 17.0% (P ≥ 0.95), and the intensity of egg production -by 10.0%. The feed costs were lower in the trial groups by 0.16-15.57% for the production of 10 eggs; and for the production of 1 kg of eggs in the 3rd and 4th trial groups -by 9.08 and 3.12% than in the control. The profitability in the 3rd trial group made 54.2%; that was by 1.59% higher than in the control group. The optimal dosage of iodine as much as 0.075 mg per 100 g of complete feed was determined which contrib-uted to obtaining a greater economic effect in quail egg production.

The efficiency of introducing probiotics based on strains of Bacillus subtilis, Bacillus licheniformis and their consortium in the amount of 150 g/t of feed into the diets of laying quails has been studied. The experiment lasting 182 days has been carried out on four groups of quails with 30 heads in each. The quails have been housed in the broiler battery in compliance with the required microclimate conditions. Quails of all groups have been received the main diet (compound feed) developed taking into account their age and physiological characteristics. The quails of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd experimental groups in addition to the main diet received probiotics (150 g/t compound feed) based on strains Bacillus subtilis, Bacillus licheniformis and their consortium, respectively. It has been found that feeding the laying quails of the consortium of strains Bacillus subtilis and Bacillus licheniformis had the most significant positive impact on their productive performance, it allowed to increase egg production by 7,81 %, egg laying intensity by 5,0 %, egg mass yield by 9,77 %, while reducing feed expenditures for 10 eggs by 13,35 %. The yield of hatching eggs has been increased by 7,03 %, hatchability of chickens from laid and fertilized eggs by 8,33 and 8,35 %, brooding waste decreased by 21,74 %. Hematological parameters of quails during the whole experiment were within the physiological norm. The economic effect calculated on the basis of data on the cost of compound feed, probiotics and the cost of sold eggs of quail laying was 14,56 % in the 3rd experimental group (in relation to the control group).

The important functions of L-carnitine are fostering the oxidation of long-chain fatty acids by mitochondria and stimulating protein-sparing action by increasing energy derived from lipids. The present study was conducted to investigate dietary effects of L-carnitine on egg production of breeder ostriches. Ninety black neck ostrich breeder birds (60 females and 30 males) were examined randomly (completely randomised design) within three treatments and five replicates for 7 months in breeding season. A basal diet was formulated and used for the control group (L1), while two levels of L-carnitine, 250 mg/kg and 500 mg/kg, were included in the basal diet for treatments L2 and L3, respectively. The egg production percentage, egg weight and defective eggshell percentage were measured. The supplementary diet with 500 mg/kg L-carnitine increased (P < 0.01) the egg production percentage. Means (±s.e.) of egg production percentage for L1, L2 and L3 were 9.68, 12.95 and 17.13% (±1.08), respectively. L-carnitine had no effect on the egg weight and the defective eggshell percentage. The results suggest that basal diet supplemented with 500 mg/kg L-carnitine can increase the egg production percentage of ostriches.

Compound feed are subject to requirements for their composition, since they use several types of grains that contain anti-nutritive substances that reduce the digestibility and use of nutrients. One of the tasks of domestic poultry farming is to reduce losses by increasing the digestibility and accessibility of feed. Among the most effective ways to solve this problem is to add enzymes to the feed of poultry. The inclusion of enzyme drugs in the composition of compound feed contributes to the inactivation of anti-nutritive substances, which contributes to an increase in the coeffi cient of digestibility of nutrients. The purpose of the work was to establish the feasibility and eff ectiveness of the enrichment of compound feed used in the production technology of chicken eggs with mixtures of enzyme drugs of domestic production of Amylosubtilin G3x, Cellolux-F and Protosubtilin G3x. Three groups of laying hens with 57 heads in each have been formed: a control group and two experimental groups. The duration of the experiment was 420 days. Laying hens of the control group have been received farm compound feed depending on their age. Laying hens of the 1st experimental group have been received compound feed of the control group enriched with the enzymes Amylosubtilin G3x and Cellolux-F depending on the age. In the compound feed of laying hens of the 2nd experimental group enzyme drugs were additionally introduced depending on the age Amilosubtilin G3x and Protosubtilin G3x. Higher egg production rates have been observed in the 1st experimental group – 357,81 eggs, which was 6,48 % higher than in the control group and 1,84 % higher than in the 2nd experimental group. The weight of eggs of laying hens of the 1st experimental group was 1,85 g or 2,97 % more, and the 2nd experimental group was 0,7 g or 1,12 % more than in the control group. The diff erence between the egg weight in laying hens of the 1st and 2nd experimental groups was 1,85 % or 1,15 g. The lowest feed consumption of 1,37 kg for the production of 10 eggs was in the laying hens of the 1st experimental group, which was less than the indicator of the control group by 10,94 and by 4,2 % than in the 2nd experimental group.

A 12-week study was conducted at the Teaching and Research Farm of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife to evaluate the effect of dietary inclusion of LAYPLUS® (LP) on fertility and egg parameters of female Japanese quails, Coturnix coturnix japonica. Two hundred and ten birds of average weight of 167.75±3.94g were used for this study, and they were allocated randomly into seven treatment groups and replicated thrice. Group 1 served as control without inclusion of LAYPLUS®, while groups 2, 3, 4 and 5 had 250 mg/kg, 500 mg/kg, 750mg/kg and 1000mg/kg inclusion of LP and group 6 had 240mg/kg of vitamin E, respectively, and group 7 clomiphene citrate. Eggs were collected daily and egg production was calculated on a bird-day basis. The data obtained were analyzed using one-way ANOVA. There was significant increase (p<0.05) in the egg production parameters namely egg weight, egg laid per hen and percentage laying rate of LP500mg/kg compared with other groups. The highest percentage egg production was by the LP500mg/kg at 57% while the lowest was by the LP250mg/kg at 41%. There was no significant difference in the egg weight and Haugh unit among the supplemented birds and the control group. There was significant difference among the treatments in the percentage hatchability of the eggs with LP500mg/kg eggs recording the highest value of 95.68%. It can be concluded from this experiment that supplementation of the feed with LP at 500mg/kg had beneficial effect on quail production through improved effect on egg production and hatchability. This experiment studied the effect of DPP supplementation in the laying hens’ diet on the ovarian follicle development, hematological variables and hormonal profile of laying hens. Eighty-four, 78-week-old, Lohman LSL hybrids layers were equally divided into four groups (4 groups × 7 replicates × 3 hens); hens in the 1st group were fed a basal diet (control), while those in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th groups, were fed on the same diet and supplemented with 1.25, 2.5 and 5.0 g DPP/kg diet. The results showed that the egg weight, egg mass and laying rate of laying hens treated with DPP levels were significantly increased compared to those of the hens in the control group. Egg weight, egg surface area, albumen quality and percentage of the yolk in treated hens significantly increased compared with controls. The increased DPP levels in laying hens‘ diet significantly (p < 0.05) increased WBC, Hb and TAC, while heterophil/lymphocyte (H/L ratio) significantly decreased. Additionally, the concentrations of FSH and LH and the weights of ovary and oviduct in the treated hens significantly (p < 0.05) increased compared with the control. In conclusion, the DPP supplementation in the hen diet significantly improved egg production, EW, H/L ratio, ovarian follicles, FSH and LH hormones concentrations.

Effect of dietary tea polyphenol (TP) on the content of epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), catechin (C) in egg yolk, and impact on egg quality and production was investigated. For this purpose, 315 healthy Gallus domestiaus aged 42 weeks were selected and randomly divided into 7 groups. The experimental group added 0.02, 0.05, 0.09, 0.14, 0.19 and 0.24% TP to the basic diet. The control group (CK) was fed basal diet. After 10, 20 and 30 days, 15 eggs were randomly selected from each group for egg quality testing, and 20 eggs were selected for EGCG and C content test in the yolk. The results showed that in the 0.24% TP group, the content of EGCG in egg yolk was significantly higher than that of CK group and the 0.02, 0.05, 0.09 and 0.14% TP groups (P < 0.05), and reached the highest on the 30th day (19.171μg/g). The content of C in egg yolk was significantly higher than that in CK group and the 0.02, 0.05, 0.09 and 0.14% TP groups (P < 0.05); and reached the highest on 30th day (7.071 μg/g). The egg weight of the 0.14% TP group on the 10th day and of the 0.19% TP group on the 20th day were significantly lower than that of the CK group (P < 0.05); the egg yolk weight of 0.14% TP on the 10th and 20th days were significantly lower than that of the CK group (P < 0.05). On the 30th day, compared with the control group, the egg weight of the 0.14% TP group was significantly reduced (P < 0.05), the egg yolk color of 0.05 and 0.14% TP groups was significantly increased (P < 0.05). During the whole experiment, the egg production of 0.24% TP group was significantly higher than that of control group (P < 0.05). In conclusion, adding high concentrations of TP can increase the content of EGCG and C in the yolk; however, it has a certain impact on egg weight, yolk color and eggshell thickness. Adding high concentrations of TP may increase egg production. © 2021 Friends Science Publishers

This experiment was carried out to determine the effects of using L-carnitine and humate alone or in combination in quail diets on laying performance, egg traits and blood parameters. A total of 280 Japanese quails aged 10 weeks, divided into one control group and three treatment groups, were used. The diets of the first, second and third treatment groups were supplemented with 100 mg L-carnitine/kg, 1.5 g humate (Farmagülatör® Dry Plus)/kg and 100 mg L-carnitine + 1.5 g humate/kg, respectively. The experimental period lasted 16 weeks. The addition of L-carnitine and sodium humate alone or in combination did not significantly affect body weight, feed consumption, egg production, feed conversion ratio, mortality, egg-shell thickness, egg yolk index and the percentages of egg-shell, albumen and yolk. Egg weight increased (P < 0.001) with L-carnitine supplementation. The values of egg albumen height (P < 0.05), egg albumen index (P < 0.01) and egg Haugh unit (P < 0.05) were increased with humate supplementation. Egg cholesterol content and blood serum parameters were not affected by the supplementation of L-carnitine with or without humate. The results in this study demonstrated that L-carnitine supplementation increased egg weight while humate addition increased egg albumen index and egg Haugh unit of laying quails. However, the combined administration of L-carnitine and humate did not have any significant effects on the parameters measured.

The main aim of the study was to assess the effect of a diet supplemented with L-carnitine on egg weight and laying rate in hens of pheasant (<I>Phasianus colchicus</I>). The experiment lasted 14 weeks and was performed with 210 experimental and 210 control laying hens. The birds were kept in cages; one cock and seven hens per cage. Both control and experimental hens were administered the complete feed mixture, with the only difference that the feed mixture administered to experimental hens was supplemented with L-carnitine at a level of 0.01%. During the experimental period, eggs were collected and weight of individual eggs was determined. Control and experimental groups provided 8 039 and 8 499 eggs, respectively. The results showed that L-carnitine increased egg weight (<I>P</I> < 0.01) and laying rate. The effect of L-carnitine on egg weight and laying rate manifested itself until weeks 11 and 13, respectively. The average weight of eggs laid during the experimental period was (mean ± SD) 32.22 ± 3.03 g in the control group and 32.51 ± 2.83 g in the experimental group, with the overall laying rate being 44.29% in the control group and 47.30% in the experimental group.

Reasil® Humic Vet is a liquid water-soluble feed additive with complex action. The aim of our research was to study the effect of the liquid feed additive "Reasil® Humic Vet" on the productive qualities and the digestibility of nutrients in compound feed by laying hens. The drug was drunk for 14 days with a break between courses of 7 days at a dose of 0.25, 0.50 and 0.75 ml / 1 liter of water. The highest egg production was obtained in chickens, the second experimental group -84.69%. The weight of 1 egg in this group also turned out to be higher than -63, 10 g. All this led to an increase in the egg weight to 31.09 kg, while reducing feed costs to 2.17 kg. The digestibility of organic matter in the experimental groups was 75.45, 75.44 and 75.37%, which is significantly higher than in the control group by 0.66, 0, 67 and 0.59%, respectively (P <0.05). The drug used with a high degree of reliability stimulated an increase in the digestibility coefficients of protein, fat, fiber (P <0.01) in chickens from 1 and 2 experimental groups. Increasing the amount of the supplement to the maximum dose did not significantly affect protein digestibility. Fat, fiber and dry matter in general in the 3rd experimental group had digestibility coefficients, the difference of which with those of the control group was confirmed by biometric processing (P <0.05 and 0.01).

Probiotic preparations based on bacteria of different species composition, having the ability to increase the resistance and physiological status of the organism of the breeding object, are used to increase the productivity and preservation of the livestock of bred animals under the conditions of recent intensive cultivation technologies. The effectiveness of the probiotic complex A2 using to increase the productivity and quality of rabbit meat was studied by us. The studies were carried out in LLC "Lipetsk rabbit' on a hybrid livestock "Hypharm" of French selection at the age of 45 days. The experimental population was divided into control and experimental groups by the method of pair-analogues. The rabbits of the control group received PZK-92 compound feed, the livestock of the experimental groups was fed with PZK-92 compound feed with the introduction of the A2 probiotic complex in dosages of 0.6 and 1.0 g / kg of compound feed. When applying the optimal dosage of the used probiotic complex, which amounted to 0.6 g / kg of feed, 100% livestock safety is achieved, slaughter yield is increased by 4.51% with a decrease in feed costs by 1.42 ECE, as well as a positive effect on nutritional and biological value of rabbit meat was observed. An increase in profit by 3616.0 and profitability (up to 35%) by 12% in relation to the control group (23%) was achieved. This creates the prerequisites for the widespread use of this feed additive in the industrial complexes of the rabbit industry.
