The lack of use of video media in the learning process causes students to have difficulties in learning. This research aims to develop audiovisual learning media tailored to the needs of today's learning. The test subjects in this study consisted of several experts and students. The experts consist of learning content experts, learning design experts and learning media experts and involve grade V students to conduct individual trials and small group trials. This development research uses ADDIE development model (analyze, design, development, implementation, evaluation) as systematic steps in the product development process. The data collection method in this study consists of observations, questionnaires and interviews. The data analysis techniques used are quantitative and qualitative descriptive data analysis techniques. Based on the results of product trials, the instructional video was declared feasible by the test subjects, namely learning content experts, learning design experts, learning media experts and students. The results of the evaluation of the learning content expert obtained a percentage (95.83%) with very good qualification, the results of the learning design expert's assessment obtained a percentage (94.23%) with very good qualification, the results of the learning media expert's assessment obtained a percentage (85.00%) with good qualifications and the results of student assessments through individual tests obtained a percentage (94.00%) with very good qualification, and the results of student assessments through small group tests obtained a percentage (95.83%). Based on the results of the product trial, it is concluded that the developed learning videos in very good qualifications and suitable for use in the learning process.

AbstractCreating a Massive Online Open Course (MOOC) based on analysis from research requires the adaptation of MOOC pedagogies. For example, course designers need to follow certain design principles and adapt learning content to the pedagogies and constraints of a MOOC platform. That said, this paper outlines five different learning design principles that create active learning in a MOOC. These emerged when adapting knowledge from a research case study. To exemplify the adaptation, this paper examines how research from a sociological, qualitative classroom study about a teacher who used digital technologies in foreign-language training at a Norwegian high school was adapted for a MOOC that ran on FutureLearn.

This paper defines and examines three generations of distance education pedagogy. Unlike earlier classifications of distance education based on the technology used, this analysis focuses on the pedagogy that defines the learning experiences encapsulated in the learning design. The three generations of cognitive-behaviourist, social constructivist, and connectivist pedagogy are examined, using the familiar community of inquiry model (Garrison, Anderson, & Archer, 2000) with its focus on social, cognitive, and teaching presences. Although this typology of pedagogies could also be usefully applied to campus-based education, the need for and practice of openness and explicitness in distance education content and process makes the work especially relevant to distance education designers, teachers, and developers. The article concludes that high-quality distance education exploits all three generations as determined by the learning content, context, and learning expectations.

The availability of learning media in grade five is very lass varied, especially three-dimensional learning media which have characteristics that are suitable for elementary school students. This causes students to find it difficult to understand the subject matter and students get bored easily in the classroom. This study was aimed to find out the validity of Pop-Up Book teaching and learning media toward the Pancasila values lesson in daily life on students grade five in elementary school. This study applied Dick & Carry model consisted of eight steps. The subject in this study is Pop-Up Book. The try-out design in this study consisted of expert review for the teaching and learning content, expert review for the teaching and learning design and expert review for teaching and learning media, personal tryout, and small group tryout. The data in this development study were collected by administrating formative tests from the expert review and students. Data collection techniques in this study were observation, interviews, and questioner. Then, the data were analyzed by using qualitative descriptive techniques and quantitative descriptive techniques. The validity of mean score of the teaching and learning content shown 93.18% with excellent qualification, teaching, and learning design shown 89.28% with good qualification, the teaching and learning media shown 91.66% with an excellent qualification. Whereas personal tryout shown 95.83% and small group tryout shown 94.90%. Based on the analysis data above, this study could be concluded that the development of the Pop-Up Book Model using Dick & Carry was valid.

This paper proposes a system, the Smart Learning Design Framework, designed to support the development of pedagogically sound learning material within an integrated, platform-independent data structure. The system supports sharing, reuse and adaptation of learning material via a metadata-driven philosophy that enables the technicalities of the system to be imperceptible to the author and consumer. The system proposes the use of pedagogically focused metadata to support and guide the author and to adapt and deliver the content to the targeted consumer. A prototype of the proposed system, which provides proof of concept for the novel processes involved, has been developed. The paper describes the Smart Learning Design Framework and places it within the context of alternative learning object models and frameworks to highlight similarities, differences and advantages of the proposed system.DOI: 10.1080/09687760500104591

This essay offers a response to the challenge of preparing student interns to successfully utilize Spanish professional terminology in legal and medical settings. The authors developed a personal adaptive learning (PAL) course to address vocabulary language deficits experienced by Spanish internship students. PAL technologies provide students of Language for Specific Purposes (LSP) the opportunity to engage in vocabulary learning through personalized feedback and alternative learning content. Implementing Cavanagh et al.’s (2020) Framework for Adapting Learning Design, the authors designed Spanish language modules for legal and medical terminology using Realizeit, a PAL platform that allows instructors to create their own content and assessment items. PAL modules for both legal and medical terminology were added to the Canvas learning management system of the Spanish Internship course and students could select the Realizeit module that fit their internship placement (legal or medical). PAL holds enormous potential to help LSP learners build mastery of industry-specific terminology that will be attractive to potential employers.
