Purpose: The purpose was to investigate the topics and method applied in research-based master's theses in nursing science.Methods: A total of 694 research-based master’s theses produced in a period of 30 years representing the entire period of a university programme in nursing science were examined. We used an explorative design with a deductive-inductive approach.Results: The master’s theses covered a variety of topics, ranging from basic theoretical and methodological issues to topics in clinical research, education and leadership. Four main themes were addressed: patient studies, practice studies, nursing education, and nursing management and leadership. Qualitative methods using interviews and some observations were the preferred approach. For those who used quantitative methods, surveys and a few quasi-experiments were identified. Nurses’ responsibility for providing high-quality and safe care is a fundamental issue in nursing science. When great changes in health care alter the conditions for reaching this aim, we identified that master’s students want to investigate the consequences for patients and nursing care. The fact that few students addressed education and leadership is worrying. It might affect the quality of education. Furthermore, one may question how nurses can be visionary and take a leading role, which is stated to be important in the literature, in developing future health and nursing care.Conclusions: Our study uncovered the importance of investigating research-based master’s theses because it provides a basis for reflection on topics that need to be emphasised in the future.

RESUMOObjetivo: refletir sobre a ciência da Enfermagem e o enfermeiro cientista, levando em consideração os desafios da produção científica, para atingir grau equivalente ou próximo ao do conhecimento confiável. Método: trata-se de estudo descritivo, tipo análise reflexiva, construído por meio da busca na SciELO, LILACS e BDENF, com os descritores enfermagem e ciência, utilizando-se o operador booleano AND, e com delimitação temporal de 2012 a 2017. Resultados: destaca-se, por esta reflexão, a necessidade do fortalecimento dos princípios norteadores da prática científica para o fortalecimento da ciência de Enfermagem. Torna-se imprescindível a utilização de ferramentas disponíveis na promoção de ações sociopolíticas que apontem para a qualidade de vida da sociedade na internacionalização por meio da divulgação das publicações em periódicos relevantes. Conclusão: contribui-se, por esta reflexão, para a propagação do conhecimento produzido na realidade dos serviços de saúde, na comunidade e nos centros de formação de Enfermagem, acarretando mudanças significativas que não se restringem ao universo acadêmico. Results: this reflection highlights the need to strengthen the guiding principles of the scientific practice for the strengthening of nursing science. It is essential to use tools available in the promotion of sociopolitical actions that point to the quality of life of society in the internationalization through the dissemination of publications in relevant periodicals. Conclusion: this reflection contributes to the propagation of knowledge produced in the reality of health services, in the community and in nursing training centers, leading to significant changes that are not restricted to the academic universe. This review presents an analysis of research published by Irish nurses during the period 1990–2005. The analysis is the first effort made to identify the main characteristics of Irish nursing research. Overall, 213 published studies were identified for consideration, from which, 152 were included in the review. The studies were published in 60 journals, 4 books, and 8 research reports. Journal articles selected from 6 journals accounted for 52%. Inclusion criteria were quality of research design, sampling (including sample size), data analysis, scientific merit, and authorship. Each article was analyzed based on this schema. The major areas of research identified included clinical practice (56%) (e.g., medical surgical, mental health, intellectual disability, and maternal and child), nursing management and professional issues (19%), and nursing education (25%).

The quality of clinical accompaniment of the student enrolled for the post-basic diploma in Medical and Surgical Nursing Science: Critical Care Nursing (General) is an important dimension of the educational/learning programme. The clinical accompanist/mentor is responsible for ensuring the student’s compliance with the clinical outcomes of the programme in accordance with the requirements laid down by the Nursing Education Institution and the South African Nursing Council. The purpose of this study was to explore and describe the experiences of the students enrolled for a post-basic diploma in Medical and Surgical Nursing Science: Critical Care Nursing (General), in relation to the clinical accompaniment in a private hospital in Gauteng. An exploratory, descriptive and phenomenological research design was utilised and individual interviews were conducted with the ten students in the research hospital. A content analysis was conducted and the results revealed both positive and negative experiences by the students in the internal and external worlds. The recommendations include the formulation of standards for clinical accompaniment of students. the evaluation of the quality of clinical accompaniment of students and empowerment of the organisation, clinical accompanists/mentors and clinicians.

Nurses are one of important human resources in a hospital and are one of the keys to the successful implementation of services in the hospital. Providing opportunities in the form of career development is very important for the hospital to organize. The purpose of this study was to analyze the gap between the level of importance and implementation of career development at the UKI hospital in terms of the management and nurse executives perceptions. This research is a quantitative and qualitative research. The results of the study found that the negative average gap (-0.09) between the level of importance and implementation in terms of management and nurse perceptions was low. Based on the results of the study, it was concluded that the gap between the level of importance and implementation at the UKI Hospital judging from the management and nurses perception was still in the fair category. The research result can be used as material for reference and the study in the field of nursing science, particularly in the field of nursing management related to perceptions of career development with the quality of hospital services.

O profissional de enfermagem tem papel imprescindível para o planejamento e organização dos cuidados à pessoa com estomia. Nesse sentido objetivou-se identificar o conhecimento de enfermeiros acerca do manejo de enfermagem à pessoa com estomia de eliminação. Estudo descritivo com abordagem qualitativa, realizado com trinta enfermeiros atuantes em instituições públicas de saúde, uma terciária e uma secundária de Barra do Garças-MT. Utilizou-se a entrevista semiestruturada para coleta de dados no período de novembro de 2019 e a técnica de análise de conteúdo para analisar os resultados obtidos. Emergiram duas categorias: entendimento dos enfermeiros sobre estomias de eliminação e intervenções de enfermagem executada. Evidenciou-se falas inseguras e algumas respostas errôneas, cujos cuidados limitavam-se basicamente na troca do equipamento coletor e observação/avaliação da pele periestomia. As dificuldades dos enfermeiros frente aos conceitos e técnicas refletem na qualidade da assistência prestada, o que torna necessário ações que visem a qualificação profissional.Descritores: Estomia, Enfermagem, Educação Continuada. Nurses' perception of elimination ostomies: reflections for qualified careAbstract: The nursing professional has an essential role in the planning and organization of care for people with ostomy. In this sense, the objective was to identify nurses' knowledge about nursing management for people with an ostomy. Se evidenciaron discursos inseguros y algunas respuestas erróneas, cuyo cuidado se limitó básicamente a cambiar el equipo de recolección y la observación/evaluación de la piel de peristomía. BACKGROUND Evaluating the master’s degree program in Sports Physiotherapy in order to improve the quality of education in this field. The need to pay attention to the effectiveness and efficiency of the education and improving the system of higher education by becoming more aware of the factors involved is necessary. The aim of this study is to evaluate the educational program for master’s degree in Sports Physiotherapy. OBJECTIVE The aim of this study is to evaluate the educational program for master’s degree in Sports Physiotherapy. METHODS This is a hybrid study in which qualitative and quantitative methods for data collection were used. The research team consisted of faculty members and sports physiotherapy students. In the first part of the study, due to a lack of standard questionnaires, the method of an expert panel was used to build the tools. In the second part, the questionnaire was distributed among 22 professors and students, and the data was collected. RESULTS The findings showed that according to the viewpoints of the faculty members and students, the courses in the program are necessary and facilitates the students to become qualified in meeting their future professional requirements. The findings of other research indicate the desirability of the content, implementation, and educational facilities of the program from the viewpoint of the professors, and unfavourable from the viewpoint of the students. Moreover, from the perspective of the professors and students, the teaching methods is appropriate to the type of course and there is no need to add a new course to the program. The findings of student evaluation methods showed that these methods were considered to be favourable from the viewpoint of the professors, and unfavourable from the viewpoint of the students. CONCLUSIONS As a result, the program of Sports Physiotherapy was evaluated, in terms of its favourability, with the existing courses. Nevertheless, the addition of practical and clinical units helps to improve the quality of the curriculum.

<p><em>The quality of public service is an important and it must have bye the each public service institution. Includes the library as a public service institution giving service for the all visitors. This research aims to know the comparisation of Kepri Province Libraries quality service  and Tanjungpinang City Libraries quality service. The method used in this research is quantitative methods with questionnaire to 40 responden as samples. This questionnaire as an data collecting instruments. These results indicate the quality of two libraries is good. But, if they compared the service quality of  Province Kepri  Libraries is better than  Tanjungpinang City Libraries. This look from average scored  results is 152,61 points  for Kepri Province Libraries, and 150,66 points for Tanjungpinang City Libraries, in the good categories</em></p><p>Kualitas pelayanan publik merupakan hal yang penting dan harus dimiliki oleh masing-masing lembaga pelayanan publik. Termasuk perpustakaan sebagai lembaga pelayanan publik yang memberikan pelayanan kepada semua pengunjung. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbandingan kualitas layanan Perpustakaan Provinsi Kepri dan kualitas pelayanan Perpustakaan Kota Tanjungpinang. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kuantitatif dengan 40 responden sebagai sampel. Kuesioner ini sebagai alat pengumpul data. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan kualitas kedua perpustakaan suda bagus. Tapi jika dibandingkan kualitas pelayanan Perpustakaan Provinsi Kepri lebih baik dari pada Perpustakaan Kota Tanjungpinang. Hasil dari hasil rata-rata ini adalah 152,61 poin untuk Perpustakaan Kepri Province, dan 150,66 poin untuk Perpustakaan Kota Tanjungpinang, dalam kategori baik.</p><p><em><br /></em></p>

Childhood obesity and caries are linked to sugar-sweetened beverage (SSB) and excessive juice consumption. We assessed psychosocial factors influencing children’s beverage consumption and strategies to promote healthier choices. Using a quantitative and qualitative approach guided by the theory of planned behavior, we surveyed and interviewed 37 parents of preschool-aged children on barriers and facilitators of children’s beverage consumption. Most children (83.8%) consumed SSBs, 67.6% drank >4 to 6 oz of juice per day. Parent’s self-efficacy was the strongest correlate of parent’s behavioral intention to limit SSB (0.72, standard error 0.08, P = .03). Parents’ motivations to limit their child’s SSB intake extended beyond simply preventing caries and obesity; they also considered the implications of these conditions on children’s self-image, future health, and quality of life. Yet, the influence of multidimensional barriers made it difficult to reduce children’s SSB consumption. Interventions that address parental attitudes, values, and self-efficacy to address external factors could help reduce children’s SSB consumption.

Summary Objectives: The Yearbook of Medical Informatics is published annually by the International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA) and contains a selection of excellent papers on medical informatics research which have been recently published (www.yearbook.uni-hd.de). The 2003 Yearbook of Medical Informatics took as its theme the role of medical informatics for the quality of health care. In this paper, we will discuss challenges for health care, and the lessons learned from editing IMIA Yearbook 2003. Results and Conclusions: Modern information processing methodology and information and communication technology have strongly influenced our societies and health care. As a consequence of this, medical informatics as a discipline has taken a leading role in the further development of health care. This involves developing information systems that enhance opportunities for global access to health services and medical knowledge. Informatics methodology and technology will facilitate high quality of care in aging societies, and will decrease the possibilities of health care errors. It will also enable the dissemination of the latest medical and health information on the web to consumers and health care providers alike. The selected papers of the IMIA Yearbook 2003 present clear examples and future challenges, and they highlight how various sub-disciplines of medical informatics can contribute to this.
