This paper attempts to identify the mosques’ source of fund, distribution of fund, and parties responsible in managing the fund. This study was conducted using qualitative data through in depth interviews on three different mosques in Kelantan. The findings of this study further solidify results of previous research where it was found that the main sources of mosques’ fund were from public charity contributions. The fund was also found to be utilized optimally on operations and physical development of the mosques.

The aimed of this study was to analyze the management of Boonpring Ecotourism by Village Owned Enterprises (BUMDes) in order to increase income of the village (PADes). This study uses a case study design with a qualitative descriptive method. Qualitative data obtained by conducting in depth interviews, observations and documentation. The informants in this study were the Head of village, the Head of BUMDes, staff and community. Data reduction, data presentation, trianggulation and conclusion are data analysis  used in this study. The results of the study stated that the management of Boonpring Ecotourism had been carried out well by the Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes) of Sanan Kerto in accordance with the cooperative, participatory, transparent, accountable, and sustainable principles. Good management of Boonpring Ecotourism is expected to increase Income of village in a sustainable manner by exploring the potential of villages through the tourism sector even though there are obstacles in the application of participatory principles, namely the quality of Human Resources (HR) that need to be trained.Keywords: Management Principles; tourismp; BUMDes; Income of Village. AbstrakTujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis pengelolaan Ekowisata Boonpring oleh Badan Usaha Milik Desa (BUMDes) dalam rangka meningkatkan pendapatan desa (PADes). Penelitian ini menggunakan desain studi kasus dengan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Data kualitatif diperoleh dengan melakukan wawancara secara mendalam, observasi dan dokumentasi. Informan dalam penelitian ini adalah Kepala Desa, kepala BUMDes, karyawan, dan masyarakat. Reduksi data, penyajian data, trianggulasi dan penarikan kesimpulan merupakan analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Hasil penelitian menyatakan pengelolaan Ekowisata Boonpring sudah dilakukan dengan baik oleh Badan Usaha Milik Desa (BUMDes) Sanan kerto sesuai dengan prinsip kooperatif, partisipatif, emansipatif, transparan, akuntable, dan sustainable. Pengelolaan Ekowisata Boonpring yang baik diharapkan dapat meningkatkan Pendapatan Asli Desa secara berkelanjutan dengan menggali potensi desa melalui sektor pariwisata walaupun ada kendala dalam penerapan prinsip partisipatif yaitu kualitas Sumber Daya Manusia (SDM) yang perlu dilatih.Kata Kunci: Prinsip Pengelolaan, wisata, BUMDes, PADes.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to examine the relationship between the ecomuseum and solidarity tourism and to measure their impact on community development. Design/methodology/approach The study presented here adopts two methods for collecting qualitative data: in-depth interviews and observations. The total number of village households was 42 and the number of households that hosted tourists in their home was 20. Due to the exploratory nature of this study, qualitative methods were employed in the form of lengthy interviews with 13 residents. Findings The findings indicate that tourism for the Bogatepe Village ecomuseum has focused on a solidarity perspective which has provided significant benefits to the community ensuring local sustainable development. The ecomuseum as a concept and a destination has helped to control tourism and strengthened the impact of solidarity tourism on the local community. Research limitations/implications The research presented here must be seen as exploratory. More generally, further research is needed to look at the possibility of developing this type of tourism in other rural areas and similar regions of Turkey (covering both small and large areas) with an important cultural heritage. Originality/value The combination of the ecomuseum and solidarity tourism can provide a sustainable solution for tourism in rural areas and provide a model in the development of tourism to other villages in Turkey. The question is whether it could also be used in larger rural areas. The study underlines that Bogatepe is certainly worthy of future study.

PurposeThis paper aims to examine the pedagogical strategies and challenges of selected multigrade (MG) schoolteachers in Albay, Philippines.Design/methodology/approachThis study utilized a case study design using a validated semi-structured instrument with in-depth interviews to ten MG teachers, observation and document analysis. Qualitative data analyses such as content and thematic analyses were used in analyzing the data.FindingsThe results show that MG teachers use a variety of overlapping and supplementary instructional strategies such as (1) teaching one topic to all grades and at varying levels of difficulty using differentiated activity, (2) “jump-jump strategy”/teaching one grade while others work independently and (3) peer teaching or tutoring. However, there are several pedagogical challenges that MG teachers are faced with: (1) conflict between the medium of instructions and grade grouping, (2) problems with lesson planning, (3) unfocused instruction, (4) insufficient learners' materials, (5) absence of training prior to MG teaching and (6) the negative perception of the effectiveness of MG instructions.Research limitations/implicationsThe research is limited within the context of the participants and focuses on the pedagogical strategies and challenges in the implementation of MG teaching.Practical implicationsThe results of this study can serve as a reference on how to support and strengthen MG instruction.Originality/valueThis study provides a research-based overview of MG schools from the grassroots level and adds to the limited studies of MG education in the Philippines.

The study was conducted to investigate the contribution of entrepreneurship education in technical training colleges in enhancing management skills of informal sector entrepreneurs in Kenya. A case study of informal sector operators in Nairobi was conducted. Qualitative data was collected using in-depth interviews and observations. The data was analyzed using the grounded theory. Findings of the study showed that the informal sector operators used skills they gained in entrepreneurship education in technical training colleges to gain access to the informal sector industry and to manage their business. Those with higher training in entrepreneurship education tended to excel in their operations. A closer look showed that there was still a need for further training of management skills to better their activities. The recommendations were that secondary schools in Kenya should include entrepreneurship in secondary education system curriculum so as to help the school leavers who fail to join tertiary education and end up in the informal sector.

Abstract There has been a gradual move toward the inclusion of students with disabilities in Nigeria promoted by the National Policy of Education, as well as polices emerging from UNESCO; however, the infrastructure and resources to make inclusion happen are generally lacking. Based on this report and the need for more information on teachers' and parents' understanding about disabilities and inclusion as demonstrated in the literature, this study explored disability-related knowledge and understanding among teachers and parents in Nigeria. Specifically, using an exploratory case study including quantitative and qualitative data, this research was designed to explore teachers' and parents' knowledge about and understanding of students with disabilities and inclusion in the southwest region of Nigeria. Findings revealed that there is a need for more teacher and parent training in Nigeria regarding students with disabilities, especially as their willingness to support students who are struggling is positive. This willingness is a key component and first steps for moving schools and communities in Nigeria toward more inclusive environments.

An evaluation of the National Year of Reading in Yorkshire was conducted by Leeds Metropolitan University in response to a brief from Museums, Libraries and Archives, Yorkshire. This paper outlines the development and planning of phase one of this small scale qualitative research project and the analysis of the initial results which looks at the impact of NYR on the organisations that delivered the campaign and their work with target groups. The Generic Social Outcomes and the National Indicators were used to develop a theoretical framework. Data were gathered via in depth interviews and focus groups with NYR steering group partners in Calderdale and North Lincolnshire, selected as the two case study authorities. The use of MAXQDA computer-assisted qualitative data analysis software (CAQDAS) enabled data and coding structures to be stored and will facilitate comparison in this longitudinal study. This evaluation will provide material that local library authorities can use for advocacy with a range of audiences including local and central government.

In Asian societies, the framing of contemporary masculinities and femininities remains under-theorised. This article critically examines the interplay between schooling, Indonesian Chinese ethnicity and the (re)production of male entrepreneurial masculinities manifested in teenage boys’ sexual/gender subjectivities and identity formation. The qualitative data obtained from an anonymous Chinese-Christian majority international school in Indonesia’s capital city, Jakarta, illustrate how patrimonial practice, in conjunction with repudiations and identifications in an elite educational environment shape gender and specific ways of being male that also “speak” Chineseness. This exploratory case study aims to contribute a theoretically-led empirical intervention which locates Chinese ethnicity and masculinity within their socio-cultural schooling specificities as a prelude to discussing new directions for researching gendered ethnicity and education in Indonesia.

<strong>Abstrak</strong><strong>: </strong><strong>Syair <em>Doda Idi </em>dan Transmisi Spirit Etno-Nasionalisme pada Masyarakat Aceh</strong>. Tulisan ini membahas transmisi spirit etno-nasionalisme dalam masyarakat Aceh berdasarkan studi kasus syair doda idi. Kesarjanaan tentang Aceh kontemporer memperlihatkan tingginya komitmen etno-nasionalisme sebagai identitas sosial masyarakatnya. Tetapi sejauh ini, studi yang membahas tema tersebut belum memberi perhatian yang memadai terhadap penggunaan syair sebagai mekanisme sosial dalam reproduski dan transmisi spirit etno-nasionalisme. Berdasarkan data kualitatif yang dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi dan studi dokumentasi, tulisan ini mengajukan argumen bahwa transmisi spirit etno-nasionalisme pada masyarakat Aceh lintas generasi dimulai dari mekanisme sosial yang berlangsung alam lingkup keluarga. Syair doda idi yang dilantunkan hampir setiap ibu di Aceh ketika menidurkan anak sejak masih bayi memiliki peranan signifikan dalam proses pembentukan identitas kolektif maupun etno-nasionalisme tersebut di kemudian hari. Sejalan dengan itu artikel ini menyimpulkan bahwa kesadaran etno-nasionalisme yang ditransmisikan melalui syair beroperasi dalam dua kesadaran yang saling berkoneksi satu sama lain, yaitu kesadaran diskursif (<em>discursive consciousness</em>) dan kesadaran praktis (<em>practical consciousness</em>).<br /> <br /><strong>Kata Kunci:</strong> syair doda idi, identitas kolektif Aceh, etno-nasionalisme<br /> <br /><strong>Abstract:</strong> This paper discusses the transmission of ethnonationalism spirit in an Acehnese society based on the <em>doda idi</em> poem case study. The scholarship about Aceh contemporary shows the high commitment of ethnonationalism as the social identity of its people. But, the studies that discuss these themes have not given adequate attention to the use of poetry as a social mechanism in reproducing and transmitting the spirit of ethnonationalism. Based on qualitative data collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation studies, this paper proposes the argument that the transmission of the spirit of ethnonationalism in Acehnese society across generations begins with social mechanisms that take place within the scope of the family. <em>Dodas</em> poems chanted by almost every mother in Aceh when they put their children to sleep as infants have a significant role in the process of forming collective identity and ethnonationalism in the future. Correspondingly, this article concludes that ethnonationalism awareness transmitted through poetry operates in two consciousnesses that are interconnected with each other, namely; discursive consciousness and practical consciousness.<br /> <br /><strong>Keywords:</strong> <em>doda idi</em> poetry, Aceh’s collective identity, ethnonationalism

Abstract Background Despite its criminalization in Ghana, prostitution dates back to ancient societies and occurs in various forms within communities. The authors examined prostitution in selected public Universities in Ghana. Methods The study was an exploratory- mixed-method design. Respondents were identified using purposive and snowballing techniques whiles semi-structure questionnaires and in-depth interviews were used for data collection between 2017and 2019. Quantitative data were analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences version 23 and qualitative data analyzed thematically. ResultsFindings show that there is a proliferation of prostitution on university campuses in Ghana for financial, material and emotional gains. Student prostitutes have devised various strategies to combine academic work and prostitution. Prospective customers are solicited by hanging out in drinking bars and night clubs in and around university campuses at night and/or leaving contact details with pimps to be contacted for services. Brothels are also springing up in and around the university campuses in the form of movie houses and student prostitutes convert their hostel rooms into brothels. Price negotiation is based on the environment, duration and styles/positions adopted for sex. ConclusionThere is a need for a multi-sectoral approach for appropriate policy and program interventions to regulate the practice on campus.

Fast expanding of urban development changes the street function and gives priority for vehicles, which effects the urban fabric and cultural life of the city. It makes walking in the street difficult and uncomfortable. Hence, this research aims to explore the influence of landscape features towards comfort character of traditional streets in Amman, Jordan. The case study was Rainbow Street in Amman, the capital city in Jordan. Mixed-method approach was used in this study, which involved direct observation (visual and behavioural) and user perception (survey and in-depth interviews) techniques. The data was analysed through thematic analyses for qualitative data and descriptive statistics for quantitative data. The results show that landscape features that contribute towards comfort character could be divided into two main categories, namely, pedestrian amenities and sidewalk. This should be taken into consideration in the design of the existing and future streets in Jordan.
