NOAA (AVHRR) imageries have been studied for four years from 1982 to 1985. Overlapping wave zones in different imageries of the same fortnight have been given successively higher weightage in the scale of 1 to 7. Different monochromatic hatching scheme for different weight has been adopted. Direction of wind at the level of wave and its wavelength has also been marked over the region. Thus, the climatology has been documented into 24 fortnights. The following two periods emerge, while waves are generally seen over the region.   16 November to 15 April- This includes Winter Season upto the beginning of pre-monsoon.   01 June to 15 October -This includes Southwest monsoon upto the third week of postmonsoon.   The occurrence of lee waves during the transition period is less. They are the second fortnight of April till the end of May and the second fortnight of October till the middle of November. A scrupulous observation shows that during both the periods (i) and (ii) mentioned above there is systematic eastward shift of the leewave zones with gradual induction of different airmasses over Indian subcontinent from beginning till end. Coastal area of Bitung Municipality is one of the economical activities centers in North Sulawesi Province such as for land-uses and the exploitation of natural resources. Those activities are exaggerating day bay day and tended to be uncontrollable. The excess of those conditions, it has been recorded the change of waves in Bitung waters that has impacts to coastal areas and can affect the utilization of coastal and marine resources. This research was aimed to observe waves altitude variations in Bitung waters with Svedrup Munk and Bretchsneider (SMB) method that had been used to predict waves altitudes. The results showed that the wind speed during West Season was 0.33 m and were dominant to the East, while during East season was 0.91m from South-East to North-West, and then on transition period (March to May) was 1.08m from South-East to East. The results of those wind speed to the waves altitudes in Bitung waters is discussed in this paper© Pesisir pantai Kota Bitung merupakan salah satu pusat aktivitas ekonomi (misalnya pemanfaatan lahan dan eksploitasi sumberdaya) di Provinsi Sulawesi Utara. Aktivitas tersebut semakin hari semakin meningkat dan memiliki kecenderungan tidak terkontrol. Akibat dari keadaan tersebut, telah terjadi perubahan fenomena gelombang di perairan Bitung yang berdampak pada keberadaan daerah pesisir pantai di mana hal ini dapat mengganggu aktivitas pemanfaatan sumberdaya pesisir dan laut tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui variasi tinggi gelombang di perairan Bitung dengan menggunakan metode Svedrup Munk and Bretchsneider (SMB) yang biasa digunakan untuk peramalan tinggi gelombang signifikan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kecepatan angin pada Musim Barat sebesar 0,33 meter dan dominan ke arah Timur, sementara pada Musim Timur sebesar 0,91 meter dari arah Tenggara ke Barat Laut, serta pada Musim Peralihan (antara bulan Maret-Mei) adalah sebesar 1,08 meter dari arah Tenggara dan Timur. AbstractThe linear dust lattice waves propagating in a two-dimensional honeycomb configuration is investigated. The interaction between particles is considered up to distance 2a, i.e. the third-neighbor interactions. Longitudinal and transverse (in-plane) dispersion relations are derived for waves in arbitrary directions. The study of dispersion relations with more neighbor interactions shows that in some cases the results change physically. Also, the dispersion relation in the different direction displays anisotropy of the group velocity in the lattice. The results are compared with dispersion relations of the waves in the hexagonal lattice.

When, on April 30. the United States rejected the Law of the Sea Convention, it dealt a blow to its own best interest: the orderly development of rules to govern navigation and exploitation of the oceans.During the last days of an eight-week session of the third United Nations conference on the Law of the Sea, the Third World majority had made a last-ditch effort to obtain U.S. approval of the treaty. The U.S. delegate, James Malone acknowledged that their concessions offered “modest improvements” but also that they failed to satisfy U.S. demands on the mining of highly valued manganese nodules. Whatever hope remained for a consensus on the draft treaty was shattered when the U.S. pressed for a forrnai roll call vote on the final day. Disappointment, frustration, and even shock was registered by many of the assembled delegates.

Late wintertime diurnal variation and spatial distribution of mountain wave excitations over the Mt. Devchuli range and its surrounding areas have been numerically simulated with the application of Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) Modeling System. The study reveals that the region holds low-level trapped mountain waves almost all the time. The waves are confined below the stratified layer at about 3km above the mean sea level. Wave excitation over the region is highly active during the afternoon time whereas it remains at minimum level during the late morning time. These waves pose significant risk for low-level aviation and parachuting activities.Journal of Institute of Science and Technology, 2015, 20(1): 102-106

Extraskeletal myxoid chondrosarcoma (ESMC) is a rare tumor seen more often in men. It is seen to arise from soft tissue of lower extremity or buttocks. We report a case of soft tissue swelling of left labium majus in a 66-year-old female. Patient underwent wide excision with uneventful postoperative course. Histopathology of specimen confirmed it to be ESMC. Patient refused adjuvant therapy. Followup of 1 year has shown her to be disease- and symptom- free. Only two cases arising from vulva have been reported in literature . This is the third case and first from Indian subcontinent. A brief review of clinical features, diagnosis, treatment, and outcome of patients with extraskeletal chondrosarcoma is presented.

The hydrographic characteristics and current circulation in Terengganu and Pahang coastal waters were examined for their spatial and temporal variability based on the seasonal influence during the transition period (April 2014) and southwest monsoon (June and August, 2014). The results of this study demonstrated the presence of slightly cooler water during June and August, 2014 compared to April, 2014, which indicate the existence of coastal upwelling. Furthermore, the uplifting of isotherms towards the coast during the study trip was also a good evidence of upwelling. The current flow generated by the wind was the possible reason of the features. Furthermore, this study also makes the first attempt to observe the coupling effects between coastal upwelling and the phytoplankton biomass in Terengganu and Pahang coastal waters, which is still sparse. Interestingly, apart from the nutrient availability, the coastal upwelling was believed to influence the phytoplankton biomass at the study area.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to provide an overview of the changing strike activity in the UK over the last 50 years. Design/methodology/approach – The paper draws on a wide literature on UK strikes and an extensive trawl of newspaper sources. It is divided into four main sections. The first two summarise, in turn, the changing amount and locus of strike activity between 1964 and 2014. The third discusses the changing relationship and balance between official and unofficial strikes. The last covers the role of the courts and legislation on strikes, highlighting some key moments in this turbulent history. Findings – The period 1964-2014 can be divided into three sub-periods: high-strike activity until 1979; a transition period of “coercive pacification” in the 1980s; and unprecedentedly low-strike activity since the early 1990s. Unions were more combative against the legislative changes of the 1980s than they are normally given credit for. Research limitations/implications – Given its broad scope, this paper cannot claim to be comprehensive. Originality/value – This is a rare study of the changing nature of UK strikes over such a long time period.
