In the past ten years, on the background of multi-modality symbols, researches of college English audio-visual speaking teaching in China have transitioned gradually from theoretical researches to practical researches in the aspect of research methods and research priorities. Five pairs of relationships between multi-modality symbols and college English audio-visual speaking teaching have been concerned about. When applying multi-modality symbols into college English audio-visual speaking teaching, teachers should choose different modals and teaching content appropriately, should use multi-modal languages comprehensively, should stress students’ self-study management, should speed up multi-modal teaching platform construction and use, should apply dynamic teaching and management mechanisms, and should construct a comprehensive teaching and evaluation mechanism.

Since English is now used as a Lingua Franca (ELF), it is important to explore how English learners may be trained to employ multiple Communication Strategies (CSs) to achieve mutual understanding, particularly in ELF contexts. This study explores which CSs were taught in recent years in China and how the teaching content is presented in domestic textbooks from an ELF perspective. Ten college English textbooks that were published in the past five years (2014–2019) were selected and evaluated based on an adapted framework of CSs. The findings revealed a notable inclination toward certain types of macro-strategies and were not systematically mapped out. Moreover, an initial effort in manifesting “cultural diversity” was observed but failed to construct intercultural contexts. Knowledge explanation as well as student-oriented exercises were found to be conducive in consolidating learners’ acquisition of forms. However, the function and context of the target CSs were neglected. Furthermore, an absence of sociocultural pragmatic concern resulted in a discrepancy between explicit knowledge explanation and context-based practice. Accordingly, this study suggests implications for both textbook writers and instructors in practice.

AbstractWith the development of the electronic commerce, the electronic word-of-mouth (eWOM) has become important reference information for consumer shopping. EWOM has attracted considerable interest from researchers in the past decade. In this paper, a research review is conducted and an integrated framework is proposed on the effect of eWOM. The effect of eWOM are influenced by its characteristics, communicators, and other factors. The characteristics of eWOM include the source, the volume and the valence. The communicators of eWOM refer to the sender, the receiver and the relationship between them. In addition, dispersion and consistency, persistence and observability, anonymity and deception, and community engagement are related factors for the effect of eWOM.

The ongoing SARS CoV-2 pandemic also known as COVID-19 is a highly infectious and deadly disease that has disrupted socio- economic activities  and killed over 500 000 people worldwide during the past six months since it first erupted in Wuhan China in December 2019.While intensive efforts  are under way in the developed countries to find a vaccine and cure for the disease, Cameroon and other African countries should not fold their hands and wait , but join the search for new remedies including from cures from traditional herbs while rigorously applying barrier and social  distancing measures that have proven effective in in curbing the spread of the disease. Herein we enumerate a short list of research priorities that are feasible in our milieu and that could improve on diagnostics, treatment and prevention of the disease in the short and medium terms. The interaction history between users and items is usually stored and displayed in the form of bipartite graphs. Neural network recommendation based on the user-item bipartite graph has a significant effect on alleviating the long-standing data sparseness and cold start of the recommendation system. The whole paper is based on the bipartite graph. An review of the recommendation system of graphs summarizes the three characteristics of graph neural network processing bipartite graph data in the recommendation field: interchangeability, Multi-hop transportability, and strong interpretability. The biggest contribution of the full paper is that it summarizes the general framework of graph neural network processing bipartite graph recommendation from the models with the best recommendation effect in the past three years: embedding layer, propagation update layer, and prediction layer. Although there are subtle differences between different models, they are all this framework can be applied, and different models can be regarded as variants of this general model, that is, other models are fine-tuned on the basis of this framework. At the end of the paper, the latest research progress is introduced, and the main challenges and research priorities that will be faced in the future are pointed out.

Science does not progress without controversy as well the societies. In this article, this approach is privileged, aiming to analyze whether they can hinder or speed up the agricultural and food, environmental and sanitary transitions necessary to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It begins with an alert to the past development model and the limits of the planet, highlighting some themes and forms of action chosen by international institutions and / or scientist’s networks. Then, we selected some controversies and their arguments, related to environmental issues and the evolution of food systems. In the subsequent item, its actors and five sub controversies sought to highlight the difficulties for the transition to circular systems, considered as a vector of sustainability. It is concluded that controversies can block advances for transitions, being essential the design of methods, criteria and indicators for a better understanding of oppositions, as well as the need to include both themes and new approaches in research agendas.

This paper describes the main problems to be solved, and makes full use of the network and multimedia technology to build an open, interactive network English teaching platform. The platform provides students with abundant videos, images, voices, texts and other resources, so that the students can get help from teachers and other partners to improve their English ability.

Partial periodic patterns are commonly seen in real-world applications. The major problem of mining partial periodic patterns is the efficiency problem due to a huge set of partial periodic candidates. Although some efficient algorithms have been developed to tackle the problem, the performance of the algorithms significantly drops when the mining parameters are set low. In the past, the authors have adopted the projection-based approach to discover the partial periodic patterns from single-event time series. In this paper, the authors extend it to mine partial periodic patterns from a sequence of event sets which multiple events concurrently occur at the same time stamp. Besides, an efficient pruning and filtering strategy is also proposed to speed up the mining process. Finally, the experimental results on a synthetic dataset and real oil price dataset show the good performance of the proposed approach.

Tertiary nitrifying trickling filters (NTFs) at the Littleton/Englewood wastewater treatment plant provide for nitrification to meet seasonally varying effluent requirements for ammonia nitrogen. Operation of the full-scale facilities during the past two years demonstrates highly efficient oxidation of ammonia and the effectiveness of biofilm control strategies. A decline in nitrification performance caused by predators was successfully corrected by the use of a special alkaline backwash feature which controlled the level of larval development within the NTFs.
