<p class="apa">Scholarly work and research are globally known as stressful and challenging. Teachers may develop different psychological health problems once they are exposed to workplace stressors. Considering it as a serious issue of education sector, this study has examined the linkages between prevalent workplace stressors and psychological health problems in Pakistan’s academia. A cross-section quantitative research design was adopted, whereas data was collected by self-administered questionnaire from a sample of 1189 teachers working within 12 universities of Pakistan. Descriptive statistics were used for analysis of demographic data; Chi-square tests were performed to compare psychological health problems with socio-demographic characteristics, whereas Multivariate Logistic Regression Analysis was run to know the relationship between prevalent work stressors and psychological health problems. Results show that the majority of respondents were male (63.8%), unmarried (58.5%), 25 to 40 years old (78.5%) and working as Lecturers or Assistant Professors (77%), thus their average job experience was 05 to 10 years. Psychological health problems were prevailing more among male, unmarried, less experienced and junior teachers. Such socio-demographic characteristics were potential risk factors for psychological health problems. Furthermore, respondents exposed to work stressors like workload, interpersonal and emotional demands were more likely to develop psychological health problems. Findings of the current study will develop awareness among teachers concerning work stress and psychological health. Such findings can be utilized by policy makers of Pakistan for devising policies about occupational health &amp; safety of teachers.<strong> </strong>The prevalence of psychological health problems in academia of Pakistan is a recognized workplace issue. Therefore, it needs immediate corrective measures at individual and institutional levels.</p>

Abstract The aim of the study was to analyse the demographic characteristics of lost and found dogs in Belgrade, Serbia. The demographic data concerning the 246 lost and 81 found dogs in the period of 5 consecutive years (January, 2009 to January 2014) was sampled and analysed from the data bases of four organizations for animal protection in Belgrade. The recovery rate of lost dogs and the chance to be reunited again with their owners was 33%. The highest recovery rate was estimated in the category of lost dogs with visible marks such as tags or collars (30%).The chi-square test disclosed that besides dogs with special visible marks, significantly more females, light colour coated, friendly/sociable and neutered dogs were reunited with their owners (P<0.0001).

Abstract Background Cough variant asthma (CVA) is a special phenotype of asthma. We aimed to elucidate the differential inflammatory features in patients with CVA in contrast to patients with classic asthma (CA). Methods A total of 68 patients with persistent uncontrolled asthma (34 with CVA, 34 with CA) were enrolled. We collected the demographic data, pulmonary function test (PFT) parameters, hematological variables, and several serum biomarkers. The independent-samples t test was used for analyzing measurement data, and Chi-square test was for count data. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to determine the possibility of different phenotypes. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were generated to evaluate the values of biomarkers for distinguishing between CVA and CA. Linear correlation analysis was performed to assess the linear relationship between two variables. Results Compared with CA group, CVA group had a higher percentage of females, lower proportion of asthma family history, shorter disease course, and better pulmonary function (P all < 0.05). Increased levels of blood eosinophil count (P = 0.045), eosinophil percentage (P = 0.046), serum IL-5 (P = 0.011), and serum herpesvirus entry mediator (HVEM) (P = 0.002) were also found in CVA patients compared to those in CA patients compared to those in CA patients. The logistic analysis revealed that serum HVEM had a strong predictive power for CVA group (OR = 1.105, P = 0.015). The sensitivities and specificity of serum HVEM and IL-5 to distinguish between CVA and CA at optimal cut-offs were 85.0% and 61.1%; 85.0% and 61.1%, respectively. Area under the curves (AUCs) of serum HVEM and IL-5 were 0.789 and 0.739, respectively. Furthermore, serum HVEM and IL-5 had no correlation with PFT parameters in CVA group (P all > 0.05). Conclusions Elevated serum levels of HVEM and IL-5 are exhibited in CVA patients, which may indicate their important roles in the pathogenesis and progression of CVA.

Introduction. For human ear, noise represents every undesirable and valueless sound. In disco clubs, as in some other places with loud music mostly attended by young people, the level of noise sometimes attains over 100 dB. As reported by numerous studies, a high noise level could induce subjective difficulties (ear buzzing, audition loss, vertigo and palpitations, anxiety, high blood pressure, decreased concentration, lowered memory storing). Objective. Assessment of subjective difficulties occurring in young people when staying in places with a high noise level (cafes, disco clubs, rock concerts), which can produce health problems, due to loud music, in association with demographic data, addictions and personal life style data. One of the goals is to find factors leading to subjective difficulties, which would be objectively studied in the second stage of the research and marked as early predictors of possible health problems. Methods. The study was conducted among 780 students of the Higher Healthcare School of Professional Studied in Belgrade. We used a questionnaire with 20 questions, divided into four categories: demographic data, case-history data, subjective problems and addictions of the subjects. In the statistical data processing we used the methods of descriptive and exploratory analysis, chi-square tests, correlation tests and Mantel-Haenszel odds ratio. Results. After listening loud music, 54.0% of examined subjects felt ear buzzing, and 4.6% had hearing damage. The habit of visiting places with loud music, mostly once a week in duration of 2-3 hours per visit had 80.4% of subjects. The presence of subjective complaints after listening of loud music was in association with loud music listening and disco clubs visits. The major reasons of the present subjective difficulties could be predicated by listening of loud music and club visits (r=0.918 and r=0.857). A relative risk for subjective difficulties presentation was 1.599. Conclusion. According to the results of our study, over half of children develop loud music-induced subjective problems involving ear buzzing and occasionally hearing loss.

Introduction: The implementation of Therapeutic Patient Education (TPE) remains a challenge. An exploratory study highlighted two tendencies among practitioners of TPE, which could hamper this implementation: an oscillation between identities (as caregivers versus as educators) and an inclination towards subjective psychological health objectives. Objectives: To verify whether these tendencies can be observed among an informed audience in TPE. Next, to explore the variables associated with one or other of these tendencies. Method: A quantitative cross-sectional survey by a self-administered questionnaire was carried out among 90 French-speaking healthcare professionals. Statistical analyses (chi-square, logistic regression) were then conducted. Results: Sixty percent of respondents displayed identity oscillation, which was found to be linked to task oscillation, patient curability, scepticism towards medicine and practising in France. Fifty-six percent pursued subjective psychological health objectives, which was found to be associated with health behaviour objectives and a locus of power in the healthcare relationship distinct from those seen in the pre-existing health models (biomedical, global). This tendency seems to constitute an alternative model of TPE. Discussion & conclusion: Identity oscillation and subjective psychological health objectives can be both observed. This study stresses the need to deliberate on the form(s) of TPE that is/are desired.
