This article explored parochial partisanship among university students amid growing concerns about political polarization in Ghana. The paper used mixed research methods to gather data with the aid of an interview guide and a questionnaire. It argued that university education inculcates in and endows young people with a sense of civic-minded duty to prioritize the collective good of society and subordinate parochial partisan preferences in an analysis of political policies. The novel finding is that university education in Ghana has enlightened many young people to decipher between the facts and the propagandistic view held by political activists because of parochial partisan interest. However, university education was found to be a necessary but not sufficient condition to wipe out parochial partisanship which is the bane behind the growing political polarization in Ghana. The paper recommends continuous seminars on the dangers associated with negative partisanship in all tertiary educational institutions. Further, the winner-takes-all politics should be reviewed.

BACKGROUND: Existing issues with student mental health are the sources of ongoing violation of academic and educational integrity in learning and instructional dynamics in all educational institutions worldwide. OBJECTIVE: This didactical paper addresses the practical case of educational integrity violations induced by student mental illness. It presents a thought-provoking unified viewpoint of the existence of a non-obvious geometric analogy between the irreversible psycho-social process of mental disorder growth and the irreversible pressure forming-induced deformation process of materials extrusion through an angular domain. METHODS: This paper uses the method of geometric analogy between the dynamics of social irreversible processes in human society and technical irreversible processes in materials extrusion. RESULTS: The novel analogy between the loss of elliptical shape of an initial circular material element within pressure-extruded material and the development of student mental inadequacy during intensive university education was firstly studied and analyzed in detail. CONCLUSIONS: The author-proposed original socio-technical cross-disciplinary analogy improves and broadens student understanding of nonlinear dynamics both in the technical processes of macroscopic rotation formation in pressure-formed material and in the bio-social processes of psycho-neurological pathology development within a learner’s mind.

University education -on almost modern lines existed in India as early as 800 B.C. or even earlier. The learning or culture of ancient India was chiefly the product of her hermitages in the solitude of the forests. It was not of the cities. The learning of the forests was embodied in the books specially designated as Aranyakas "belonging to the forests." The ideal of education has been very grand, noble and high in ancient India. Its aimaccording to Herbert Spencer is the 'training for completeness of life' and ‘the molding o character of men and women for the battle of life’. The history of the educational institutions in ancient India shows a glorious dateline of her cultural history. It points to a long history altogether. In the early stage it was rural, not urban. British Sanskrit scholar Arthur Anthony Macdonell says "Some hundreds of years must have been needed for all that is found" in her culture. The aim of education was at the manifestation of the divinity in men, it touches the highest point of knowledge. In order to attain the goal the whole educational method is based on plain living and high thinking pursued through eternity.

Adolescence involves significant developmental changes and challenges including heightened body image concerns. However, there is limited research on adaptive ways of responding to perceived threats to body image. This study uses body image flexibility, derived from contextual behavioral perspectives, and coping theories to explore young people’s responses to body image threats. High school and university students (12 male, 15 female) aged 12 to 24 years were recruited from educational institutions in a metropolitan area of Australia. Thematic analysis of semistructured interviews identified themes related to body image threats from internal and external sources. In response to these threats, young people reported coping by changing the content of, and how they related to, perceived threats, and seeking social support. In addition, young people viewed coping as a dynamic process that changed over time and across situations. Reported processes of attending to, and allowing, momentary negative experiences and connecting with other important life domains were consistent with body image flexibility. The coping context affected the selection of coping strategies, with body image flexibility facilitating more adaptive coping for some participants. Further investigation of contextual behavioral approaches, such as body image flexibility, could help to better understand and promote adaptive body image coping in youth.

President Trump’s communications during the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic violate principles of public health, such as practicing transparency and deferring to medical experts. Moreover, the president’s communications are dangerous and misleading, and his lack of leadership during the crisis limits the nation’s response to the problem, increases political polarization around public health issues of social distancing, and spreads incorrect information about health-related policies and medical procedures. To correct the dangerous path that the nation is on, the administration needs to adopt a more expert-centered approach to the crisis, and President Trump needs to practice compassion, empathy, and transparency in his communications.

The purpose of the empirical research described in the article was to study the range of judgments that characterize the social perception of the student youth of Internet news memes with political overtones. The research method was a focus group interview using the Microsoft Teams platform. The four groups included 28 undergraduate students of higher educational institutions of St. Petersburg. The results of the study characterize the attitude of students to attempts to impose political overtones on Internet news memes, reflect their opinions about the mistakes made by the authors, contain arguments about the reasons for the anonymity of the authors of memes, describe the range of views on the problem of the responsibility of the authors of memes for violations of laws. In addition, students ' perceptions about changes in Internet memes, in particular, news memes, in the future were revealed.

The term “digital native” entered popular and academic discourse in the early 1990s to characterize young people who, having grown up surrounded by digital technology, were said to be highly technologically skilled. The premise was mobilized to criticize education for not meeting the needs of young people, thereby needing radical transformation. Despite being repeatedly discredited by empirical research and scholarly argument, the idea of the digital native has been remarkably persistent. This chapter explores the myth of the digital native and its implications for higher education. It suggests that the myth’s persistence signals a need to better understand the role of technology in young people’s lives. The chapter conceptualizes technology “practices,” considers how young adults experience technology in their college and university education, and how their practices are shaped by childhood and adolescence. The chapter closes with some propositions for educators, institutions, and researchers.

In some countries, the increase in the youth population is connected to greater criminal activity. In the case of Colombia, different studies support the idea of providing socio-economic possi-bilities for young people to avoid being linked to illegal and criminal activities. Based on these precedents, this document examines whether the increase in the youth population in Colombia is directly connected to municipal crime during 2000-2010, a period in which those born in the 1990’s reached their teenage years and could participate in urban crime. For this study, economic and other variables of total and juvenile population are constructed for youth between the ages of 15-24, as well as variables in population density and political polarization incorporating the crime index proposed by (Durán, López, & Restrepo, 2009). The proposed model estimates that youth population density, population growth, conflict actions and political polarization are asso-ciated with an increase in crime. Also, greater development and political polarization can lead to an environment of less crime.

Research background. Education is one of the most important factors which determine society development. Moreover, it is continuously affected by the change of globalization. In Lithuania, during more than two decades, some positive changes took place in forming and carrying out education policy. However, some mistakes and drawbacks were not avoided, such as education segment nonconformity, globalization, changes and innovations ignorance, school’s bureaucratization, insufficiently and inefficiently distributed and controlled education funding, inefficient education strategies, the ignorance of innovations, globalization, etc. According to the most important documents of education policy in Lithuania, it has the priority and must determine general society development but still not achieved. The aim of the research. The purpose of the research is to analyse the realization system of education policy in Lithuania, also identify its main drawbacks and suggest recommendations to solve them as it is expedient to view and update the concept analysis of educational policy, taking more attention to the continuously changing spread contours of this conception. The research object is educational policy implementation in Lithuania. Methodology. The applied research methods were the analysis of theoretical literature, documents, law acts, interviewing the experts and comparative analysis. The research was carried out in March 2016 in Kaunas city and Kaunas district areas. The experts were chosen by the area of expertise and the location. There were six experts: two scientists, two representatives of the Kaunas district municipality and two experts of the administrational level. To ensure the confidentiality of these experts in this research, we used the method of data encryption: experts named “Expert A–F”. The main instrument was the interview guide which was made up to know experts’ opinions on each analysed area. The received data was systematized and presented in research areas as practical confirmation of the theoretical thesis. Results and conclusions. As a result, it was identified that the present realization system of education policy is not effective because of such reasons as the financing shortage in educational institutions, its inappropriate distribution, avoiding taking responsibility for mistakes and giving the incorrect information. Therefore, some problems in school bases, network, teaching staff and trainings are obvious. Moreover, it was offered to guide honest and clear principles, keeping sequence policy, defining problems more precisely, developing co-operation between institutions, reviewing students’ financing, taking into account the importance of school maintenance in small villages. The most important part is to distinguish the educational system as a priority in different areas. It should be guided by the implementation of political will.

The article is concerned with the phenomenon of extremism among youth. Analyzing the features of modern youth extremism the authors substantiated their conditioning by social, age, historical, and cultural factors. Young people tend to protest and reject the existing system, all-or-nothing thinking. While the phenomena identified as extremism today, repeatedly arose in the process of historical social development. A distinctive feature of the majority of extremist organizations at the present time is their focus on the issues of national identity or the political structure of the Russian society and state, using the principles of a totalitarian sect. In their activities destructive religious organizations themselves are also, as a rule, based on radical ideas, which is why they are recognized as extremist. The article presents the findings of the sociological study conducted in Saratov’s higher educational institutions. Based on the analysis of the study results the authors came to the conclusion that extremist sentiments among student youth are growing towards representatives of various nationalities and religions. The authors assumed that in order to successfully counter youth extremism, first and foremost it is necessary to clearly distinguish its causes, rooted in the society itself and shortcomings of state youth policy, from the forms of its manifestation that have social and group specific features.
