The industry is one of the main pillars of a strong economic city. Unfortunately, third world countries' industrial cities face environmental threats to the point that sustainable environments are considered a luxury (Pugh, C, 2013). According to a report issued by the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation in 2015 Egypt lost approximately 8618 acres of the finest farmland in the Delta and the Nile Valley as a result of urban sprawl on farmland to take advantage of employment opportunities and services in cities (Ministry of Agriculture land protection and land reclamation, 2015). The paper attempts to monitor different cases in the Egyptian context, trying to conclude the effective factors for their environmental and urban form as a result of industrial use. The Aim is to conclude key factors for sustainable industrial cities. The paper's results are based on a designed questionnaire that is analysed using SPSS. The questionnaire is completed with the help of experts and executives in order to specify the main factors in the sustainable urban form regarding industrial cities. It is followed by cluster analysis to determine the positive or negative effects of each element in relation to the rest of the elements concluding the most effective factor affecting the environment in every group as a tool to help the urban planning decision makers (environmental - urban - economic and social).

The study deals with the patterns of land use composition, spreading and distribution in Khalidiya city, Anbar Province, Iraq. Regarding the generation of slums with endemic mismanagement in the city of Al Khalidiya, the land use pattern needs urgently to be studied and then problems which arise from improper planning can be identified to enable the development of a strategic optimum application. The objective of the study is to identify natural and administrative contexts in shaping the urban form of Khalidiya indicators that influence property use, such as natural, human variables and spatial interactions and to provide combinations and reasons for land use, economic social and utilities feedback in the area under the study. Indicator influence was calculated in context of natural growth and planning decision-making using the SPSS software. The model input was focused on information sources: field studies, immediate interviews with individual municipal decision makers and the Governorate's Directorate for Urban Planning. The development of Khalidiya has largely been focused on natural contexts (economic and social), with a view to only addressing the residential crisis, whilst all facilities and utilities have been overlooked with no concept of sustainability, together with the usage of natural and human capital. The city plan highlights the failure to utilize agricultural areas, prospective tourism, and renewable sources as well as environmental and economic tasks.

For many years, the department’s staff has been such scientists and water engineers with extensive experience as M.A. Volynov, V.S. Verbitsky, S.S. Medvedev, N.V. Lebedev, B.C. Panfilov, T.G. Voynich-Syanozhentsky, V.A. Golubkova, G.V. Lyapin and others. The department solved a wide range of tasks, the main areas of research were the following: – theoretical and applied hydrodynamics and hydraulics, with reference to the open channel flows that affect the state and level of safety of the hydraulic structures; – integrated use and protection of water bodies – water sources and water sources of water resources used in land reclamation; – development of measures and technical solutions for the protection of objects from the negative effects of water; – theoretical substantiation of works to improve the safety level of the GTS (declaration); – development and implementation of digitalization methods for solving design, construction, operation and control of landreclamation facilities. Currently, promising areas of research is the development of a decision-making algorithm in the designation of measures to rationalize the provision of resources to water amelioration. The algorithm is developed on the basis of a detailed study, systematization and processing of data both on safety and on the efficiency of systems and structures, ensuring the delivery of irrigation water of the required quality and in sufficient quantity from a water source to the field.

Wind-assisted ship propulsion (WASP) technology seems to be a promising solution toward accelerating the shipping industry’s decarbonization efforts as it uses wind to replace part of the propulsive power generated from fossil fuels. This article discusses the status quo of the WASP technological growth within the maritime transport sector by means of a secondary data review analysis, presents the potential fuel-saving implications, and identifies key factors that shape the operational efficiency of the technology. The analysis reveals three key considerations. Firstly, despite the existing limited number of WASP installations, there is a promising trend of diffusion of the technology within the industry. Secondly, companies can achieve fuel savings, which vary depending on the technology installed. Thirdly, these bunker savings are influenced by environmental, on-board, and commercial factors, which presents both opportunities and challenges to decision makers.

The study attempts to figure out the relationship between the performance of the firms and corporate governance in Pakistan. Governance mechanisms used in this study are CEO duality, Independence of Board, Size of Board, and Ownership Concentration. While, the ROA and ROE have been used as dependent variables to measure the performance of firms. Using regression analysis technique on 10 listed firms trading over four years from 2014-2017, the results have been derived. The data regarding all the variables have been collected from all the companies’ annual reports. The discoveries of the study direct that fundamentals of corporate governance such as the Size of the Board, Ownership, and Duality Concentration of CEO have negative effects on performance of organization, as measured by ROA and ROE. While Board independence positively affects the performance of firms. The results are thus significant and provide valuable information for the decision makers about the research issues under consideration.

Underground coal mining will inevitably cause land ponding in high groundwater table, which will affect the land sustainable development. However, the traditional reclamation (TR) is poor in land rate. Thus, finding a suitable reclamation approach is crucial to alleviate the conflicts between coal exploitation and land protection. In this paper, taking Guqiao Coal Mine of China was seriously affected by mining-induced ponding as an example. Firstly, dynamic distribution of surface subsidence and land damage from 2007 to 2017 was revealed base on concurrent mining and reclamation (CMR). Second, the land-water layout of five reclamation schemes (no reclamation, TR, CMR I, CMR II and CMR III) were simulated. Then, and the dynamic filling elevation model and filling thickness model were constructed. Finally, the sequence of earthwork allocation was optimized. The results revealed that: 1) reclaimed land area: CMR III > CMR II > CMR I > TR > no reclamation; 2) The digging depth is directly proportional to earthwork volume and land area, and inversely proportional to water area, but with increase of digging depth, the increase in the reclaimed land area relatively slowed down; 3) CMRs had reclaimed 426.31~637.82 ha and 259.62~471.13 ha more than the no reclamation and TR respectively. Compared with the no reclamation and TR, CMRs can increase the proportion of reclaimed land by 33.77~50.52% and 20.57~37.32% respectively. The research results provide a reference to increase the reclamation rate of mining areas in the high phreatic table.

Whenever decision makers find out that they want to know more about how the business works and progresses, or why customers do what they do, then data miners are summoned, and business intelligence is to be built or altered. Data mining aims at retrieving valid, interesting, explicable connection between key factors for either operative reporting or supporting strategic planning. While data mining discovers static connections between factors, business intelligence visualizes relevant data for decision makers in order to make them identify fast changes and analyze precisely business states. In this chapter, the authors give a short introduction for data oriented decision support systems with data mining and business intelligence in it. While these techniques are widely used in business processes, there are much more bad practices than good ones. We try to make an attempt to demystify and clear the myths about these technologies, and determine who should and how (not) to use them.

This chapter has two main aims: first, to explore the role of various economical, financial, and strategic forces influencing firms towards diversification and specialization decision making within the Saudi Arabian manufacturing industry, and second to assess the challenges for both types of companies at the time of decision making and afterwards. Surveying 100 decision makers in the industrial cities of Riyadh using questionnaires developed for both groups, the chapter initially attempts to identify the factors that had the greatest impact on firm performance based on firm returns on investment. Several factors were found significant; first, attempts of specialization were found associated with risk avoidance and managers craving to achieve industry dominant economic features, whilst results show an increased concern among diversified firm decision makers towards changes in import and export policies and regulations. Moreover, industry type was found effective in managerial responses as they weigh the role of the factors presented to the direction of the expansion made.

Intelligence analysts are a task force of experts in the field of politics, economics, technology, military, and terrorism analysis. They possess the knowledge, sufficient capacity for imagination, and creativity to relate data predict events. The intelligence approach (basically) tries to reduce the uncertainty of this analysis to forecast the future without being privy to alternatives in the minds of policy decision makers. This chapter intends to describe a new interpretative socio-cognitive paradigm, Orientism, to understand and manage the fluid nature of knowledge, but at the same time to seize and manage the unpredictability and risks of dynamics of risk decision management in relationships complex environment. The new elements are five key factors and criteria to direct and motivate people in the choosing process and following 10 different and key relationships between them.
