In the author’s publication, they presented the theoretical approach to issues related to the evolution of culinary tourism in recent years and referred to the essence of development strategies, treating this document as an important tool in creating a competitive advantage in the tourism market, with particular emphasis on the Podtatrze region. The main purpose of this article is to show the essence and significance of culinary tourism that can become an important element of building a future development strategy for the analyzed area, which is currently one of the main destinations of the tourist market. It should also be emphasized here that decisions regarding the definition of support areas that could be included in future development strategies of particular regions are not easy decisions and errors resulting from their improper identification may have long-term consequences both in the area of effective achievement of goals and level generated revenues thus disrupting their sustainable and sustainable development. That is why, in the opinion of the authors, it is important to identify them correctly, taking into account both the supply side and the preferences of current and future tourists.

Hungary’s new national sustainable development strategy is expected to be drawn up by 2012 and social debate for discussion has already been under way. This document provides the basis of all other strategies, programs and plans. I prepared a survey by the method of structured in-depth interviews to explore the opinion of experts engaged in environmental issues and strategy development about sustainable development, the situation of the Hungarian strategy adopted in 2007 and applied indicators. The picture is highly diverse: there is a lack of unified viewpoint even about the concept of sustainability. However, the definition of a common, jointly adopted concept is the first stage in strategy development. Precisely formulated objectives and their related indicators are required for a strategy to fulfill its role – this is the theoretical part of strategic thinking.

Himalayan geosystem is highly vulnerable and susceptible to various kinds of Geo-hydrological vulnerability. Anthropogenic activities are continuously disturbing the natural system and its impact on the hydrological behavior of river. The important factor causing a flood and also accelerate several hydrological hazards during monsoon periods are heavy rainfall, cloud burst, GLOF, landslides, Slope failure, deforestation, drainage congestion due to urbanization. The Geospatial technique has been used to find out the relief, slope distribution and landslide hazard zonation and secondary data is taken to carry the analysis work. Primary data from each hotspot has been collected through a questionnaire survey and a Participatory Research Approach (PRA) and Livelihood options, Institutional participation in adaptation policy design and implementation, food security and Empowerment parameters like health and education (LIFE) approach. Present research highlights that most of the slope cutting and construction of roads are parallel to course of rivers, consequently slopes and roads have become highly vulnerable to landslides. Landslides vulnerability is increasing at an alarming rate due to unplanned and uncontrolled construction and other types of tourism based infrastructural development. Alaknanda river basin is an in-route gateway to millions of pilgrimages and religious as well as nature tourism movements. The Development of Independent Integrated City (Kota Terpadu Mandiri/KTM) Telang has been going on for 10 years and has succeeded in increasing economic growth in the KTM Telang and the surrounding area. Economic growth at the KTM Center has not been fully felt by the people of Hinterland. The lack of linkages between the city center and the region behind it is the reason for researchers to formulate a sustainable development strategy for the Telang hinterland. The study was conducted in the KTM Telang Area which included three sub-districts, namely Tanjung Lago Sub-District, Muara Telang, and Sumber Marga Telang. Primary data collection techniques are done through in-depth interviews with respondents selected by purposive sampling. The data analysis technique used in this study is the AHP (Analytical Hierarchy Product) method. Based on the results of interviews processed by the AHP method the development of the KTM Telang hinterland area is carried out by taking into account aspects sorted according to priority interests, among others through increasing power capacity (1.00), developing market networks (0.59), developing irrigation networks (0.41).
