Children’s graphic works provide a lot of information about the family. A strong bond between children and their mother and father, as people providing the sense of security, is closely related to art works concerning family made by the children. The drawings presented family became the subject of this study. Collected research material was the subject of quantitative and qualitative analysis. The analyses of the drawings allowed to notice that the way of perceiving family through the prism of relations experienced by the child (e.g. reversing proportions) was additional information about the members of the family. A variety of means of expressions used by children and elements that accompanied the figures are not only evidences of knowledge on particular topic, but they also express feelings, emotions or even expectations.

Social policy primarily aims to minimise social problems, in particular the issues concerning income disparities amongst professional groups as well as regionally. One of the adopted objectives of the analysed policy is the financial support for households, including guaranteeing a sense of security, especially in terms of income. The subject of the study was to assess the effectiveness of social policy implemented in Poland on the example of a rural municipality. The study attempts to indicate the measurable effects of a social policy instrument implemented in Poland, specifically the “Family 500+” programme. The programme supports families by improving their financial situation. In addition, according to its creators, the objective of the programme is to increase the birth rate in Poland. The imperfections of the analysed social policy instrument are also noticeable. It negatively affects the employment situation in the country, particularly for women. However, in most cases, the “Family 500+” programme is positively rated by the beneficiaries. Based on the results of the conducted study, it cannot be concluded that the “Family 500+” programme contributes to the increase in the birth rate, while the costs of its implementation may contribute to limiting the cofinancing of other areas of life, ones that are desired by the society to the same degree (education, health care, public infrastructure).

The subject of the submitted article was a high-profile court case against the Polish linguist and columnist Jan Baudouin de Courtenay for publishing in 1913 the brochure Natsional’nyi I territorial’nyi priznak v avtonomii. Only few works have been published that fully and thoroughly expose this event from the life of a Polish-Russian scholar. The source material that I collected and developed allowed me to present the lawsuit, the trial and imprisoment of Jan Baudouin de Courtenay from the perspective of his family life (which is a novelty in previous studies). The analyzed research material consisted primarily of private documents of the Baudouin de Courtenay family, most importantly so called „Diary for the family” by Romualda Baudouin de Courtenay (the manuscript is in the Archives of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw) and letters from Jan Baudouin de Courtenay to other Polish linguists. The source material also allowed me to sketch the socio-cultural background of the era, showing the activity of the St. Petersburg Polonia on the eve of the outbreak of the First War and in its first year.

This article is an attempt to present the image of the family that is contained in two novels, Boerenpsalm (A Peasant’s Psalm) by Felix Timmermans and Placówka (The Outpost) by Bolesław Prus. The article begins with an introduction, explaining the phenomenon of regional prose which was present at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries in both Dutch and Polish literature. Following this, aspects such as time, space and the subject of the novel, as well as the way of presenting the family theme, are discussed. The article ends with a summary and discussion of the conclusions drawn. The family community is the eternal and basic structure of interpersonal relationships. The family presented in the novels analysed is a large, multi-generational community, based on relationships. However, it can be unequivocally stated that the manner of presenting this community is different in the two novels discussed.

The author of the article seeks to examine accounts published in selected tourist and satirical magazines in the Second Polish Republic in 1918–1939 and addressed to a wide readership. She has selected titles published in big cities — Warsaw and Kraków — because their big-city nature implied the way in which the subject matter in question was presented. The analysed periodicals are: the Warsaw Turysta (1927–1928) and Wiadomości Turystyczne (1931–1939); the Warsaw-Kraków Turysta w Polsce (1934, 1935–1938) and the satirical magazine Wróble na Dachu published in Kraków and Warsaw in 1930–1939. The author has carried out a qualitative analysis, using the tools of literature and press studies, and has identified journalistic strategies employed to popularise mass tourism in the mountains.
