The Itajaí-Mirim River located in Santa Catarina, in the region of the low estuary of the Itajaí-Açu River, is the place where most of the water supplied for consumption is consumed by the Municipalities of Itajaí and Navegantes, the São Roque catchment station. This study aims to analyze the water quality in the Itajaí-Mirim river before and after the implantation of the dam in the Itajaí-Mirim river, based on a monitoring of physical-chemical parameters. The collections described in this report were carried out at six sample points, from January to December 2007, with the purpose of physically and chemically characterizing the environment in the rectified channel and, also, in the original bed of Itajaí-Mirim. The parameters measured in situ serve to assess the general state of water quality at the time of sampling. The main parameters measured, four of them deserve special attention (pH, Turbidity, Dissolved Oxygen and Salinity) and the correlated environmental parameters were flow rate and precipitation. In general, depending on the main results obtained, the analyzed waters can be classified in Class 2 of fresh waters, according to the limit values of CONAMA Resolution No. 357/05, and for the sampled period, precipitation and flow influenced the water quality.

MLH. No. 51 Tahun 2004. Kondisi ini terjadi akibat meiofauna merasa terganggu atas sebaran fosfat sedimen, nitrat air laut, fosfat air laut, dan pH yang tidak memenuhi baku mutu air laut.ABSTRACTThe Coastal zone are susceptible to decreasing water quality due entry of pollutants from anthropogenic activities in the mainland. This study assessed water quality based on meiofauna diversity and physical-chemical parameters in the Losari coast, Makassar. Furthermore, this study was to analyze the physical-chemical parameters effect on the diversity of meiofauna at the seabed. It employed a quantitative approach with purposive sampling technique. Water quality status on the Losari coast categorized as heavily polluted waters, this based on low level of meiofauna species diversity and most of the physical-chemical parameters does not meet the quality standards determined by Indonesian government through Kep. MLH. No. 51 of 2004. Brightness, DO, temperature, depth, salinity, and sediment nitrate are physical-chemical parameters positively correlated or influenced of meiofauna diversity level. The aquatic environmental parameters negatively correlated with meiofauna diversity level in the Losari coast are interpreted as an unfavorable relationship. This condition occurs because the meiofauna feel disturbed by distribution of sedimentary phosphate, seawater nitrate, seawater phosphate, and pH that does not meet seawater quality regulations.

This paper shows the results obtained in field analysis performed at the Tamis River, starting from the settlement Jasa Tomic - border between Serbia and Romania to Pancevo - confluence of Tamis into the Danube. The Tamis is a 359 km long river rising in the southern Carpathian Mountains. It flows through the Banat region and flows into the Danube near Pancevo. During the years the water quality of the river has severely deteriorated and badly affected the environment and the river ecosystem. In situ measurements enabled determination of physico-chemical parameters of water quality of the Tamis River on every 400 m of the watercourse, such as: water temperature, pH value, electrical conductivity, contents of dissolved oxygen and oxygen saturation. The main reason of higher pollution of Tamis is seen in connection to DTD hydro system. Sampling was performed at 7 points with regard to color, turbidity, total hardness, alkalinity, concentration of ammonium nitrogen, nitrite nitrogen, nitrate nitrogen, iron, chlorides and sulphates in samples. The aim of the present work was to evaluate water quality in the Tamis River taking into account significant pollution, which originates from settlements, industry and agriculture, and to suggest appropriate preventive measures to further pollution decreasing of the river's water.

Tigriopus fulvus (Fischer, 1860) is a benthic harpacticoid copepod of the Mediterranean supralittoral zone. The transitional characteristics of this environment forced this species to develop high resistance to changes of environmental parameters. Nevertheless, Tigriopus fulvus life-cycle is influenced from the splashpools physical-chemical parameters. In this paper, we present the results of a supralittoral monitoring performed in 2014, confirming the influence of some of these environmental parameters on population buildups. Because of recent worldwide climate change effects, a threat might have been posed on this particularly exposed organism, whose population density decreased of a sixfold value in the last 30 years. During the three pools (A, B, C) monitoring, the maximum copepod density recorded was 1456 Ind/l (September 2014, Pool C), alongside first records of extinction event for Tigriopus fulvus.

EVALUATION OF THE QUALITY OF PÊRA ORANGE FRUIT AFTER STORAGE IN ETHYLENE Abstract Oranges of the variety Pêra previously stored during three days with and without ethylene were sprayed with Imazalil, Thiabendazole and a mixture of both fungicides, formulated with and without wax. Following this treatment the fruits were stored during 25 days at 4ºC ± 2ºC / 90% ± 5% of relative humidity, parameters related to orange quality were evaluated before and after the storage period. With exception of the attribute color, no significative statistically differences were observed in the chemical and physical-chemical parameters, independent of the exposure to ethylene. The ethylene was effective for the degreening of orange with no action on the quality parameters. The further treatment with wax contributed to maintain the pattern of colour unchanged.

Healthy coral reefs depends on the quality of the waters , so that research and monitoring of water quality becomes important. This research attempt to asses marine waters quality at kaledupa island and it’ s surrounding waters on October and November 2014. 33 In-situ samples were collected using multiparameters tool purposively which are categorized into  physical parameters (temperature, turbidity and clarity), and chemical parameters (DO, salinity and pH). Waters quality defined by STORET method based on Ministry of Living Environment decree number 115 year of 2003. Analysis geographically has been conducted to describe distribution of waters quality spatially. The result shows that Kaledupa waters has sustain slightly pollution, especially on DO, turbidity, temperature and salinity parameters which have deviated from standard values. The light pollution in Kaledupa waters is suspected caused by the entry of abundance organic matter and shallow bathymetry.

The use of pesticides / fertilizers in plantations has become a problem in maintaining the quality of surface water. Thus, the objective of this study was to evaluate the water quality for irrigation purposes in the Rio Apéu microbasin – Para. The physico-chemical parameters evaluated were: pH, DO, SAR, TDS and EC measured in situ and the metals Al, Fe, Na, Ca, Mg determined in the laboratory Evandro Chagas Institute, according to the method of APHA. The average levels of pH (5.51), OD (5.04 mg L-1) are indications of normal condition in Amazonian waters. The results of Al (332 mg L-1) and Fe (5.74 mg L -1) imply the leaching of sediments from the geological formation of the region rich in these minerals, even though they present values above what is recommended by the legislation. The Richard classification allowed us to define that the waters of the study area have low salinity and sodicity, so they are not restricted to use. Thus, the results of the water quality analysis in the watershed can be concluded that it does not offer environmental problems in the use for irrigation activity

At the center of the Transyvanian Plateau lies Ocna Sibiului, with its salt deposits which, in places,  run  up  to  one  thousand  meters  below  the  surface.  The  presence  of  these  deposits has  been favored, due the extraction of salt throughout the years causing the formation of the now famous salt lakes. Due to different environmental conditions, lacustrine cuvettes and water quality differ from one lake  to  another. The  studied  lakes  are  considered  to  be  in  conection  with  the  salt  deposits  exposed through  minig  activities  carried  on  in  different time periods.  Other  lakes  in  the  area  already are isolated from salt deposits due to natural sedimentation proceses. The study adresses the lakes which still  present  a  high  degree of  salinity  and  are  used for  balnear  purposes,  and  present,  due  to  various factors, variation of physical-chemical composition throughout the year. Water samples were collected from  the  main  six  lakes  in  Ocna  Sibiului  (Ocniţa -  Avram  Iancu;  Rândunica;  Negru;  Fără  Fund; Brâncoveanu  and  Gura  Minei). Surveys  were  carried  out  in four  periods  (March-November)  during 2012.Water  temperature,  electrical  conductivity  (at  25°C)  and  pH  were  measured in-situ. The water pH  changed from  a  lake  to  another.  Generally  it  is  within  the  range of  6.78  to  8.8  highlighting  the neutral  to  slightly  alkaline  lake  water.  Salt  lake  water  conductivity  values,  in  the  upper  layers  vary within  a  wide  range,  from  more  than  200  mS cm-1 to 45.7 mS cm-1, with  different  values from the different  lacustrine  units. The  salt  water  lakes are  characterized  by  high  content  of  sodium  and chlorine ions. The other major ions are present in a small amount. This paper aims to compare the past and present evolution, characteristics and environment of these lakes, , and, based on this and current research, to project a vision of their future and how it will affect the lives of future generations living besides them.

Water quality monitoring is an important tool in determining the safety and suitability of water for various desired and intended uses. The procedures involved in the evaluation of water quality are numerous and multifaceted. Therefore, taking into consideration the specific objectives of water quality monitoring, sampling design is of vital importance. Most of the physical parameters of water quality are determined via in-situ measurements using modern testing equipment/field testing kits. Although there are some good field-based sensors that are being used for evaluation of water quality, the chemical parameters traditionally are mostly analyzed through laboratory-based experiments. This chapter is aimed to offer an inclusive knowledge and insights on the importance and assessment of physico-chemical parameters that are of high priority for monitoring the water quality of wetlands.
