Abstract Background The war in Syria caused the forced displacement of millions of Syrians to neighboring countries. Lebanon is the host country with the largest overall number of Syrian refugees per capita. Adolescent refugee girls experience a unique level of vulnerability during human emergencies and are at increased risk of suffering from poor sexual and reproductive health (SRH) outcomes. We conducted an exploratory qualitative study to learn about the SRH perceptions and experiences of refugee adolescent girls living in Bourj Hammoud, an urban setting in Lebanon. Methods We employed a qualitative design with eight focus group discussions (FGDs) conducted with 40 Syrian Arab and Syrian Kurdish adolescent girls between January and March 2020. Every FGD consisted of five participants aged 13 to 17 years. A semi-structured guide was used covering multiple themes: menstruation, puberty, SRH awareness, and sexual harassment. FGDs were transcribed and analyzed using thematic analysis. Findings The participants discussed adolescent girls’ health and named six elements of good health, such as healthy activities and self-protection. The majority of the FGD participants reported a lack of awareness about menstruation when they experienced it for the first time and the social stigma associated with menstruation. When defining puberty, they indicated its social link to a girl’s readiness for marriage and her need to become cautious about sexual harassment. Most FGD participants had very poor knowledge of the female reproductive system. Mothers were the most approached persons to receive information on SRH issues; however, the girls indicated a wish to receive advice from specialists in a comfortable and private atmosphere. All the girls reported that either they themselves, or an acquaintance, had experienced some type of sexual harassment. The girls rarely reported those incidents due to fear of being blamed or subjected to mobility restrictions, or forced to drop out of school. Conclusions The findings show the refugee girls need for satisfactory knowledge on SRH issues and interventions to prevent sexual and gender-based violence that take into consideration the complexity of urban settings.

Providing adolescent girls with sexual and reproductive health (SRH) information protects them from risks and improves their well-being. This qualitative study, conducted in Lebanon, examined Syrian refugee adolescent girls’ access to SRH information about and experiences with puberty and menarche, sex, marriage, contraception, and pregnancy. We gathered data through three focus group discussions (FGDs) with unmarried adolescent girls, 11 in-depth interviews with early-married adolescents, and two FGDs with mothers. Our findings highlighted that adolescent participants received inadequate SRH information shortly before or at the time of menarche and sexual initiation, resulting in experiences characterized by anxiety and fear. They also revealed discordance between girls’ views of mothers as a preferred source of information and mothers’ reluctance to communicate with their daughters about SRH. We advance that mothers are important entry points for future interventions in this refugee population and offer recommendations aimed to improve adolescent girls’ SRH and rights.

Background and purpose: Adolescence is a period of transition from childhood to adulthood. The problems facing adolescents are often related to reproductive health, one of which is fluorine albus. Many teenagers do not care about the fluoride of albus despite the enormous impact on women's reproductive health. One reason is the lack of knowledge about fluorine albus. Based on KISARA data there are 90.91% of girls in Denpasar City do not know the cause of fluorine albus. The purpose of this study was to determine differences in knowledge of young women before and after being given counseling about fluor albus. Method: The research design used was pre-experimental with one group pretest posttest design using 70 respondents taken by stratified random sampling. The results showed that the average score of adolescent girls' knowledge about fluor albus before being given counseling was 11.56 and after counseling was 14.23. There was an average increase in knowledge of 2.67. Results: Statistical test result using wilcoxon test get value p = 0.000 so that hypothesis accepted. Conculusion: It can be concluded that there is difference of adolescent knowledge about fluorine albus before and after given counseling.

Objectives: To describe the knowledge, attitudes, practices of reproductive health care among adolescent girls in A Luoi district, Thua Thien Hue province and to identify the related factors to reproductive health care in adolescent girls. To assess the results of intervention solutions of reproductive health care in adolescent girls. Methods: A cross-sectional study design. A study design for community intervention comparision with control group. Results: The percentage of adolescents with not good knowledge, attitudes and practices on reproductive health care has accounted for fairly high as respectively: 85.9%, 73.9%, 72.9%. There is an a relationship between education level, adolescent stage with general knowledge on adolescent reproductive health care (p < 0.05). There is a relationship between ethnicity, education level, adolescent stage with the general attitude on adolescent reproductive health care (p < 0.05). There is a relationship between knowledge, attitude, education level, adolescent stage, economic condition, the condition of the family living at the percentage of general practice on adolescent reproductive health care (p < 0.05). The effective of intervention: Good knowlegde increase from 10% to 24.1%. Good attitude increase from 16.7% to 61.4%. Good practice increase from 27.1% to 42.9%. The effective of intervention: change knowlegde: 21.6%, change attitude: 54.2%, change practice: 34.6%. Conclusion: There is need to enhance the communication and education reproductive health for aldolescent girls and to enhance communication knowlegde and skills for reproductive health staff. Background: Menstrual problems are common among adolescent girls which can affect their daily routine and quality of life. Early detection and intervention for the menstrual problems can improve future reproductive health. Aims: To nd the prevalence and type of menstrual disorders, premenstrual syndrome and premenstrual dysphoric disorder among adolescents in the primary care setting. This was a community based cross sectional survey done covering Materials and methods: the whole of Thiruvananthapuram district, Kerala..Anganwadis were the primary data collecting units, selected by systematic random sampling. Data was collected using pretested structured questionnaire and validated premenstrual symptoms screening tool. Mean, standard deviation and simple percentage were used. Chi square test was used for nding associations and signicance level. P value <0.05 was taken as signicant. The most common reported Results: problems during menstruation were dysmenorrhoea (73.6%), moderate to severe premenstrual syndrome (13.5%), oligomenorrhoea (12.5%), menorrhagia (8.4%) and premenstrual dysphoric disorder (6.2%).The prevalence of menstrual problems increased as the age increased Conclusions: Majority of adolescents suffer from one or other menstrual problem which can affect their academic and social life. It can also affect their future reproductive health. So school health programs should give emphasis on adolescent menstrual health for a healthy future generation.

Introduction: Adolescent is an important segment of life while a child undergoes biological transformation.Objective: The study was conducted to assess the level of knowledge of mothers about reproductive health needs of their adolescent girls. Methods: This descriptive cross sectional study was conducted on the mothers having adolescent girls. Data was collected by face to face interview with a semi structured questionnaire and analyzed with SPSS. The knowledge of mothers was assessed by Likert scale.Place of study: The study was conducted at 5 schools of Dhaka city on 118 respondents over a period of four months.Results: It was revealed from the findings that among 118 mothers the mean age of respondents were 40.71 years with standard deviation ± 3.707 years. Majority (70%) of respondents were undergraduate qualified and rest were post graduats. Among the respondents, 64% of mothers did not want to provide information on reproductive health to their daughters. Seventy two percent of the respondents had average knowledge about puberty. Among the respondents, 47% had average knowledge regarding adolescent reproductive health problems and 77% of respondents had average knowledge about safe motherhood. Regarding the complication of unsafe abortion, 73% had average knowledge and 70% had average knowledge about consequence of early pregnancy. Fifty seven percent of the respondents had good knowledge about Sexually Transmitted Diseases. Sixty one percent of the respondents had good knowledge regarding the high risk behaviour of the adolescents. Significant statistical association was found between knowledge and education, knowledge and occupation, and knowledge and source of information of reproductive health (p<0.05).Conclusion: The study findings may be helpful for baseline information and would be beneficial to the policymakers and programme planners to sophisticate further strategy to increase mothers' knowledge about the reproductive health needs of their adolescent girls.Key words: Knowledge; adolescent; reproductive health needs DOI: 10.3329/jafmc.v6i2.7266JAFMC Bangladesh. Background: In Bangladesh there is a scarcity of data on the degree of knowledge amongadolescents about reproductive health. Objective: To assess the awareness about reproductivehealth issues among adolescent girls in a rural area of Bangladesh. Materials and method: Thisdescriptive type of cross sectional study was conducted among 148 adolescent girls who wereselected purposively at PurbaChandara village of Kaliakairthana of Shafipurupazilla of Gazipurdistrict in Bangladesh. A pre-tested semi structured questionnaire was used to collect data byface to face interview. Results: Most of the respondents (76.35%) were within the age group of15-19 years. The average age of their menarche was 14 years. Majority of the respondents 136(91.89%) had history of menstruation and 97 (65.54%) mentioned the duration of menstrualcycle > 7 days. Regarding the hygienic practice during menstruation, majority of them (68.24%)were unhygienic. About knowledge on age at marriage, 131 (88.51%) reportedly mentionedcorrect answer that marriage age is 18 years or more for girls. Regarding the knowledge onfamily planning and family planning methods, most of them (41.89%) had no knowledge.About the infection of reproductive tract, 87 (58.78%) had no knowledge and about half of therespondents (92; 56.79%) had no knowledge about symptoms of STDs. Conclusion: it is ourresponsibility to improve the condition of adolescent girls by giving clear and correct knowledgeon reproductive health which will help them to maintain a good and sound reproductive healthin future. Abstract: Adolescence is an important period to develop their first decade of life. At this age, an adolescent girl begins to get their first menstrual period (menarche). After getting menstruation, adolescent girls need to know how to maintain their reproductive health. One effort that can be done to take care of the reproductive health has adopted the behavior of menstrual hygiene. This study aims to determine the level of knowledge of elementary school girls about reproductive health and menstrual hygiene behavior in the period of menarche. The population of this study was all students grades 5 and 6 at SDN 4 Pacarkembang Surabaya and already through menarche. This study has 30 samples and the method of data collection conducted by survey method using a questionnaire with closed questions. The variables are categorized into three categories: good knowledge level if the score range between 76-100%, the level of knowledge sufficient if the range between 56-75% and the level of knowledge is deficient when the score <56%. Variable action using the same category as the level of knowledge. The average age of menarche here is 11-12 years old. All of the respondents had got information about health reproduction and menstruation. Most respondents had heard that information from their mother. But the majority of respondents have “less” knowledge (53.33%) about health reproduction. Pada usia ini, remaja putri mulai mendapatkan menstruasi pertamanya (menarche). Setelah mendapatkan haid, remaja putri perlu mengetahui cara menjaga kesehatan reproduksinya. Salah satu upaya yang dapat dilakukan untuk menjaga kesehatan reproduksi adalah dengan menerapkan praktik menstrual hygiene. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tingkat pengetahuan remaja putri sekolah dasar mengenai kesehatan reproduksi dan praktik menstrual hygiene pada periode menarche. Populasi penelitian adalah seluruh siswi kelas 5 dan 6 yang sudah melalui masa menarche di SDN 4 Pacarkembang Surabaya. Jumlah sampel yang digunakan adalah sejumlah 30 sampel. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif dan menggunakan total populasi sebagai responden. Cara pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan metode survei menggunakan instrumen kuesioner dengan pertanyaan tertutup. Variabel dikategorikan menjadi tiga kategori yaitu tingkat pengetahuan baik apabila skor 76-100%, tingkat pengetahuan cukup apabila skor 56-75%, dan tingkat pengetahuan kurang apabila skor <56%. Variabel tindakan menggunakan kategori serupa dengan tingkat pengetahuan. Hasil rata-rata usia menarche responden adalah usia 11 sampai dengan 12 tahun. Hampir seluruh responden sudah mendapatkan informasi terkait menstrual hygiene sebelum responden mengalami menarche dari orang tua perempuan responden. Namun sebagian besar responden memiliki tingkat pengetahuan yang kurang (53.33%) dan perilaku menstrual hygiene responden sudah cukup baik (60.0%).Keyword: kesehatan reproduksi, menstrual hygiene, remaja, menarche
