Aim. Lucerne sowing in Ukraine is one of the most common fodder crops from perennial legumes. Most varieties grown today are not sufficiently adapted to a number of unfavorable abiotic and biotic environmental factors. Rosana variety was created to solve some of the above problems under the conditions of the Polissya and the forest-steppe of Ukraine. Methods. 560 plants, differing in high winter resistance and a set of economic and valuable features, were selected from the grassland of Regent's varieties of alfalfa, created in previous years from genetic plasma of varieties WL 202 (USA) and Veselopodolianska 11 (Ukraine). During the four study cycles, gumboil counts were carried out at the level of green mass and seed yield, leafyness, resistance to pathogens of root rot and other diseases, intensity of regrowth in spring and autumn. Results. The Rosana variety is similar to the Regina variety in the form of a bush, the size of leaves, the height of plants, the duration of individual phases of growth and development, and the class of rest. The variety is characterized by high intensity of regrowth, during the growing season can form 3–4 slopes, with increased feed quality, increased seed yield. Resistant to root rot, drought-proof and winter-resistant. Resistant to sinking. Medieval The period of productive longevity is 4–5 years. The height of the plants of the first slope is 80–90 cm. The yield of the seeds is 0.5 t / ha. Collection of dry matter – 14.5–15.0 t / ha. Protein content – 20.9 %, cellulose – 21.4 %. The first slope is 54–55 days. Clearness – 48 %. Conclusions. The quality of Rosana's fodder and seed yield is significantly higher than the Regina variety and the conditional standard. Characterized by a number of other economic and valuable features. It is recommended for distribution in Polissya and Forest-steppe zones of Ukraine in clean and mixed crops with other perennial herbs for the production of high-quality feed (haylage, hay, herbal pellets). Keywords: alfalfa crop, varietal, winter resistance, dry matter, seeds.

Energy-saving technologies of wheat cultivation limit the buffer role of the agrotechnical method in reducing the spread of root rot. This situation calls for using increased volumes of pesticides in order to decrease harvest losses arising from actions of harmful organisms, which does not allow to produce organic food.Considering this, evaluation of the efficiency of agrotechnical methods of cultivating spring wheat aimed at enhancing phytosanitary conditions of crops is very important. The goal of our work was to evaluate the role of predecessors, methods of soil preparation, organic fertilizers, new varieties of spring wheat, and the timing of planting in limiting the spread and reducing the harmfulness of root rot. Our study has been conducted in the forest-steppe zone of Eastern Siberia. We have established that green manure in crop rotationandfallow arable land with introduction of 30 t/ha of organic manure fertilizer with a disc harrow to a depth of 10–12 cmreduce the spread and severity of root rot and increase wheat yields. In the plantings of the new variety of spring wheat Marsianka, the spread of the disease was reliably less, and the yield was higher compared to the control variety Tulunskaya 11. The optimal planting date for the average of two years was May 25, the crops planted then compared to those planted on May 30 were 9.4% less affected by the disease and gave a reliable increase in the harvest of 0.15 tons/ha. Our studies have shown that during production of organic wheat we can limit the spread andharmfulness of root rot withagrotechnical methods.

The article presents steps of development of a new yellow lupin variety 'Bulat'. Its pedigree and description for competition tests years are given. In 2009 five productive, tall plants without extern anthracnose symptoms have been selected from the hybrid 6-02-10-10 under heavy anthracnose epiphytoty. Later the line 09-3-50-2 has been selected for green mass and seeds yield. It was tested in a competition test nursery since 2013. The line named as 'Bulat' was included to The State List of Breeding Achievements Allowed for Use. The average seed yield for six tests years made 1.87 t/ha and the yield of its green mass made 60.4 t/ha. 'Bulat' is for universal use (grain forage, green fodder, and grass conserved forage). It is resistant to pods cracking and seeds shedding. Weight of 1000 seeds is 112 grams. Vegetation period is 90–99 days. Crude protein in seeds is 42%, in dry matter of green mass it is 18%. Seed alkaloid content is 0.06%, in green mass it is 0.02%. The variety is resistant to Fusarium and tolerant to anthracnose. It suits for cultivation on light and cohesive soils.

Feed supply in terms of quality and quantity plays an important role in livestock production and productivity. Here we report on varietal differences in yield and nutritional quality among 9 alfalfa accessions over 7 harvests following planting in Ethiopia. Experimental design was a randomized complete block with 3 replications at Chano Mille, Southern Ethiopia on a sandy loam soil where mean annual rainfall is 544 mm. Days to harvesting, plant height, dry matter yield, seed yield and the concentrations of the nutritional quality parameters crude protein (CP), neutral detergent fiber, acid detergent fiber, acid detergent lignin, hemicellulose and cellulose plus in vitro dry matter digestibility (IVDMD) and relative feed value (RFV) were assessed to rank the accessions. There were significant (P<0.001) differences between accessions and harvests in plant height, dry matter yield and seed yield. Accession ILRI_7323A performed best in all agro-morphological aspects. All accessions, except 1, produced forage with CP in excess of 30% and IVDMD greater than 80% with RFV greater than 150 at 50% flowering, indicating the high quality of forage produced. Further studies to assess the longevity of stands of the various accessions seem warranted along with studies in higher rainfall environments or under irrigation.

Doubling of chromosome set directly affects plant performance through increase of organ size, higher feeding value and increased resistance to adverse environmental factors. Therefore efficient methods of polyploid induction are needed in order to develop new varieties of naturally diploid fodder grass species. The efficiency of antimitotic agents as colchicine, amiprophos-methyl, trifluralin and oryzalin was compared in a series of tetraploid induction experiments in Lolium multiflorum, L. perenne and Festuca pratensis, while newly developed tetraploid plants were compared to standard tetraploid varieties in the field trials. Colchicine treatment proved to be the most efficient method for in vitro cultured embryos in comparison with the other agents. Induced tetraploids of F. pratensis produced higher dry matter and seed yield and could be used for the development of new varieties. Induced tetraploid plants of Lolium spp. were equal to the standard varieties in field trials, therefore they could be used as parental genotypes in crosses. Induced tetraploids of F. pratensis produced higher dry matter and seed yield and could be used for development of new variety.

The aim of the research was to study the effectiveness of an application of increasing doses of potash fertilizers in the potatoes cultivation of the middle-early ripeness group of Gala variety on the background of the use of nitrogen-phosphorus fertilizers and sulfur in the dose of N90Р120S30. Studies were carried out in 2016-2018. The soil of the experimental site of gray forest medium loamy granulometric composition had the following agrochemical characteristics: pH of salt extract - 5.4-5.7; humus content - 3.28-3.41%; easily hydrolyzed nitrogen - 146-160 mg per kg; mobile phosphorus - 140-152, exchangeable potassium - 146-160 mg per kg of soil. Potassium fertilizers were applied in increasing doses - К30, К60, К90, К120, К150, К180 kg of the active substance together with the background fertilizers - N90Р120S30 and microelements deficient in this soil: copper, boron and molybdenum in the composition of ZhUSS-1 and ZhUSS-2. The influence of the studied doses of fertilizers on crop yield, dry matter content, vitamin C, starch and nitrates has been established. On average of three years, the productivity of tubers was 21.67 tons per hectare. When applying background fertilizers (N90Р120S30) compared with the control, it increased by 4.32 tons per hectare. The optimal dose of potash fertilizer on the background of N90Р120S30 for potatoes grown under irrigation was К150, where the average yield of three years was 34.42 tons per hectare. A further increase in the dose of fertilizers did not significantly increase the productivity. On average of three years, the highest dry matter content was 22.81% and starch - 13.15% was noted in the variant, where potassium was applied in a dose of К180 kg of the active substance together with background fertilizers and microelements. With the introduction of high doses of potassium (К150 and К180 kg of the active substance), the content of dry matter and starch did not significantly differ from those in the control.

The study was conducted to determine the yield and nutritional quality of sweet lupine (Lupinus angustifolius.) grown in midaltitude of Lemo District, Southern Ethiopia. The yield and nutritive value of sweet lupine in terms of quantity and quality was conducted using a factorial experiment arranged in a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with three replications. The treatments for the study were two sweet lupine varieties (Vitabore and Sanabore), two locations (Upper Gana and Jewe Kebeles, and six levels of planting spacing: 30 cm × 7 cm (S1), 40 cm × 7 cm (S2), 30 cm × 15 cm (S3), 40 cm × 15 cm (S4), 30 cm × 20 cm (S5), and 40 cm × 20 cm (S6)). The yield, chemical composition, and digestibility among parameters were studied. Sweet lupine varieties in Upper Gana Kebele gave the highest green forage yield (39.58 t/ha) and forage dry matter (4.84 t/ha) at 30 cm × 7 cm planting spacing, respectively. Seed yield (SYD) (t/ha) was highly affected ( P < 0.01 ) by location. The maximum seed (2.98 t/ha) yield was observed in Upper Gana Kebele with the minimum (2.15 t/ha) at Jewe Kebele. The forage in Jewe Kebele gave the highest organic matter (OM) (87.01%) and acid detergent fiber (ADF) (37.50%) content at a stage of 100% flowering. Sweet lupine forage in Upper Gana Kebele gave the highest crude protein (CP) content (23.11%) while the highest forage CP content was recorded at a planting space of 40 cm × 20 cm (23.67%). Sweet lupine forage gave the maximum in vitro organic matter digestibility (IVOMD) (69.10%) at a spacing of 40 cm × 20 cm in Upper Gana. The highest CP (29.11%) content and IVOMD (80.49%) of seed were recorded in Upper Gana Kebele. The overall result of this study suggested that green forage yield and forage dry matter yield are affected by location, planting spacing, and stage of flowering, whereas the chemical composition of sweet lupine forage was affected by location and variety interaction (dry matter and acid detergent fiber), location and stage of flowering interaction (OM, ADF and total ash), location (CP, metabolizable energy (ME), and IVOMD), planting spacing (CP and IVOMD), and stage of flowering (CP and ME). On the other hand, sweet lupine seed yield, seed CP, and IVOMD were affected by location. The large differences in yield and nutritive values observed among sweet lupine varieties, growth environment, planting spacing, and their interactions entail consideration of these factors for appropriate utilization of sweet lupine as a feed resource for livestock.

Objective of the research: to study the influence of the norms of mineral fertilizers on the yield and quality of seeds of oil flax varieties in the conditions of the northern forest-steppe of the Tyumen region. The studies were carried out on the experimental field of the State Agrarian University of the Northern Trans-Urals in 2019-2020. The soil of the experimental field is leached chernozem, thin, heavy loamy. Experimental options included: control, without fertilizers; NPK based on seed yield 2 t/ha; NPK based on seed yield of 3 t/ha. Increases in yield from the use of fertilizers in the studied varieties August and Sokol were obtained in 2019, the growing season of which was characterized by the amount of precipitation close to the long-term level. In 2020, when there was a shortage of precipitation, only the Sokol variety showed a positive reaction to fertilizers. Under the influence of fertilizers, the seed oil content of the August variety decreased, while the Sokol variety was at the same level in all variants.
