Introduction: This article discusses the path of healthcare associated infections (HAI) indicators in the intensive care unit (ICU) of a public teaching hospital in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil, after certain change in its nursing staff: pair of nursing caregivers. The model of a pair of caregivers consists in assigning one nurse and one nursing technician for every three patients. The indicators analyzed were infection related to central venous catheters (CVCs), the risk of HAI, turnover, and absenteeism. Objective: The objective of this paper is to understand the impact of the restructuring of the nursing staff in Human Resources and on the rate of infection in the ICU. Methods: As for methods, it is a qualitative and descriptive research carried out as a case study. Results: The results have shown that the risk of HAIs significantly increased after the change in staffing, but the density of vascular access infection associated with CVCs was drastically reduced. The results of turnover of nursing technics decreased and the turnover of nurses increased while the absenteeism of the nursing team decreased after the change. The interviews revealed that there was a gain at the care due to the change. Conclusion: As a conclusion, the results of the study have shown that the proposed nursing model caused a care gain, once the interviews exposed that and indicator directly related to nursing team care (infection associated with CVCs) decreased.

ABSTRACT Objective: The aim of the present cross-sectional study was to assess the impact of malocclusion on the quality of life of children aged 8 to 10 years attending public elementary schools in Belo Horizonte, State of Minas Gerais, Brazil. Methods: The Brazilian version of the Child Perceptions Questionnaire 8-10 (CPQ8-10) was used to evaluate oral health-related quality of life. The children were examined for the diagnosis of malocclusion using the Dental Aesthetic Index (DAI). The data were analyzed by bivariate and multivariate descriptive statistics using Poisson regression at a 5% significance level. A total of 270 children participated in the study. Results: Children with normal occlusion or mild malocclusion (DAI ≤ 25) were 56% less likely (95%CI: 0.258-0.758; p= 0.003) to have their quality of life affected compared with children diagnosed with extremely severe malocclusion (DAI ≥ 36). Children with a maxillary anterior overjet ≥ 3 mm had higher CPQ8-10 mean scores (19.4; SD = 17.1) than those with an overjet < 3 mm (13.6; SD = 11.7; p= 0.038). Conclusions: Extremely severe malocclusion and pronounced maxillary anterior overjet were associated with a negative impact on quality of life.

Although numerous studies have established the importance of public participation in development, in practice, the government or companies in charge of infrastructure development often obscure public perception about its potential impact on development outcomes. This research aims to provide a more detailed description of the impact of toll road construction projects with low public participation. This research is study is a case study that employed qualitative research design approach. The study provides a deeper understanding the impact that ignoring public engagement has on the construction toll road. Results of this study underscore the importance of participatory public project planning and implementation on project outcomes and impact. Specifically, results of the study showed that public disengagement in the construction of road toll impacts public perception [during the project preconstruction and construction stages; willingness to accept change in land use change that is necessary to realize the project; and ultimately the social impact of similar project. Study results are valuable inputs into decision making process on the need for participatory infrastructure development to enhance project acceptability, effectiveness and social impact; the importance of good development planning that involves taking into consideration all the scenarios during the implementation phase.

Purpose: The purpose of the study is to give an analysis of the humanitarian situation and the case of human rights in Syria after the events of the Arab spring. Methodology: This is analytical-descriptive research that has been done through literature review, content analysis, and documentary and case study research. Result: our results suggest that the Syrian government made false concessions designed to end the revolts. The occurrence led to the formation of a rebel group, the Free Syrian Army whose main objective was to oust the authoritarian regime and stop the killing of civilians. This marked the beginning of the blatant violation of human rights as well as the civil war in Syria. The government not only ignited but also took the war to its own people killing, injuring and imprisoning thousands of people. Worse still, thousands of women and young girls still suffer sexual violence during the nightly raids conducted frequently on either opposing camps. Following the massive violations of human rights, almost all economic sectors of Syria have met rock-bottom. Applications: This research can be used for policymakers and the international community to take a further step to aid the Syrian civilians. Novelty/Originality: In our research, we try to target a very much debated topic in the Middle East. Although several articles written about the humanitarian and human rights situation in Syria studies on human rights after the Arab spring is still lacking.

As a public institution that has a mandate to manage the waqf cash fund, the waqf agency is required to be capable of managing the cash waqf fund and implementing the principles of Good Corporate Governance (GCG) as a form of responsibility to public The impact of the implementation of GCG itself, in addition to improve the level of public trust, will increase the amount of fund accepted by the waqf agency. This research aims to describe the management of cash waqf and to analyze the implementation of Good Corporate Governance (GCG) principles respectively done and in BWU/T MUI DIY in the management of cash waqf. This is a qualitative-descriptive research using a case study approach aimed to describe the reality of the cash waqf management and the implementation of GCG principles in BWU/T MUI DIY. The results were then analyzed or measured using the theories relevant with the issues concerned. In addition, this research used SWOT analysis to observe the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and challenges in managing the cash waqf faced by the BWU/T MUI DIY. Based on the results of the research, it can be found that in the management of the cash waqf done by BWUT MUI DIY overall has been implemented in accordance with the existing laws, either from legislation, regulation of religion minister, and regulation issued by BWI. Meanwhile for the implementation of GCG principles in the management of cash waqf done by BWUT MUI DIY recently has not been done maximally. Of five basic principles of GCG including transparency, accountability, responsibility, independence and fairness, in fact there are only two principles conducted entirely that is the principle of independence and fairness. On the other hand, the principles of transparency, accountability, and responsibility have not been applied entirely.

One of the goals of any oil terminal is to make a business while avoiding hazardous events and harmful effects for both humans and the environment. This can be achieved by creating a safe working place as well as by performing safe and acceptable activities regarding the impact on surrounding objects, including residential and industrial areas. The aim of the hazard analysis of the oil terminal is to assess the risks related to hazardous events or phenomena and to evaluate whether the assessed risks are acceptable. The hazard analysis and assessment of risk are also used for risk reduction while examining and limiting hazardous scenarios that, for instance, involve the loss-of-containment of flammable or combustible material. In this paper, the authors aim to contribute to risk research by providing a comprehensive methodology of risk assessment for oil terminals with case study results and discussion on features of the methodology, risk aggregation, its applicability for risk reduction, and industrial interests. The performed study considered the “Klaipedos Nafta AB” (an operator of the Klaipeda Oil Terminal, Lithuania) case study regarding hazardous materials that might be released from various tanks, devices, and associated pipelines. The performed quantitative risk assessment has enabled the determination of the probability regarding whether releases would ignite and, for instance, cause explosion. In the case study, the estimate of probability, i.e., the frequency, and the possible consequences of the hazardous events were evaluated, and both mitigation and risk reduction measures were also considered.

Long life cycle products, commonly found in aviation, medical and critical infrastructure applications, are often fielded and supported for long periods of time (20 years or more). The manufacture and support of long life cycle products rely on the availability of suitable parts, which over long periods of time, leaves the parts susceptible to supply chain disruptions such as suppliers exiting the market, allocation issues, counterfeit part risks, and part obsolescence. Proactive mitigation strategies exist that can reduce the impact of supply chain disruptions. One solution to mitigating the supply chain risk is the strategic formulation of part sourcing strategies (optimally selecting one or more suppliers from which to purchase parts over the life of the part’s use within a product or organization). Strategic sourcing offers a way of avoiding the risk of part unavailability (and its associated penalties), but at the expense of qualification and support costs for multiple suppliers. An alternative disruption mitigation strategy is hoarding. Hoarding involves stocking enough parts in inventory to satisfy the forecasted part demand (for both manufacturing and maintenance requirements) of a fixed future time period. This excess inventory provides a buffer that reduces the effect of supply chain disruptions on the part total cost of ownership (TCO), but increases the total holding cost. This paper presents a method of performing tradeoff analyses and identifying the optimal combination of second sourcing and hoarding for a specific part and product scenario. A case study was performed to examine the effects of hoarding on both single and second sourced parts. The case study results show that hoarding can contribute to a decrease in the cumulative TCO and a decrease in its variance.

The study aim to examine the impact of educational leadership on human resources development of Jordanian university. The study is an analysis descriptive research and the methods will be use survey in order to collect information needed for get the results. The population of the study includes all Jordanian universities. The sample of the study will includes (200) professors working in governmental universities located in Amman city. The study results indicated that there are positive attitudes towards educational leadership, the study also indicated that there are positive attitudes towards variables: communication, learning, influence, confidence, and knowledge. The study results accept main hypotheses that states: There is a statistically significant impact of educational leadership on human resources development of Jordanian university. The study results also accept the first three sub hypothesis which related to the impact of (communication, learning, and influence) on human resources development of Jordanian university, but the study results reject the sub hypothesis which related to the impact of (confidence, and knowledge). The study recommended to identify best practices in leadership styles, for positive change at the university, and how to increase the absorption of the change points when their employees, and to support and provide all the resources that help educational leadership in order to achieve: communication, learning, influence, confidence, and knowledge.

Orientation: Organisational silos do not only refer to conscious structures, but also to an unconscious state of mind and mentality that takes on a life of its own. Silos result in the splitting of organisational artefacts and relationships, and impact negatively on relationship forming between individuals and within teams.Research purpose: The purpose of this research was to describe how the silo mentality impacts on team identity.Motivation for the study: During a recent organisational consultation the researchers realised that a so-called silo phenomenon had much more unexplained unconscious behaviour than was traditionally realised in terms of organisational development. It is hoped that findings from this qualitative study could give consultants entry into what happens below the surface in the silos’ unconscious.Research design, approach and method: A qualitative and descriptive research design using a case study strategy was used. Data gathering consisted of 25 narrative interviews. Using discourse analysis four themes manifested, integrated into four working hypotheses and a research hypothesis. Trustworthiness and ethical standards were ensured.Main findings: Themes that emerged were the physical environment and structure, intra-group relations, experiences of management, and intergroup relations.Practical/managerial implications: Consulting on silo behaviour as physical structures only may not be successful in changing organisational behaviour. The silo resembles an iceberg – the largest part is below the surface.Contribution/value-add: The findings evidenced silo behaviour to be an unconscious phenomenon influencing team identity negatively. Consultants are urged to study these manifestations towards understanding silos and their effect on team identity better.

Objective - This study aims to identify the impact of the application of the PSAK 69 in plantation companies in Riau, particularly in PT Perkebunan Nusantara V (Persero), and the impact of PSAK 69 to the profit gained by PT Perkebunan Nusantara V (Persero). Methodology/Technique - This research is a qualitative descriptive research. The approach used in this research is a case study. The object of this research is PT Perkebunan Nusantara V (Persero). PT Perkebunan Nusantara V (Persero) is a company engaged in the field of palm oil plantations. This study uses the data from PT Perkebunan Nusantara V (Persero)'s annual report in 2016 and the data is collected using interviews and documentation techniques. Findings - The results of this study indicate that PT Perkebunan Nusantara V (Persero) has not implemented the PSAK 69 in its agricultural business. In addition, there are differences in the measurement and recording of the biological assets applied by PT Perkebunan Nusantara V (Persero) under the PSAK 69 (IAS 41). PT Perkebunan Nusantara V (Persero) measures and records its biological assets based on historical cost, so there is no gain or loss in the current period. In addition, the profit gained by PTPN V for the year ending on 31 December 2016 is too low. Novelty - The results of this study are expected to be used as a reference for other plantation companies in implementing the PSAK 69. In addition, the results of this study are also useful to regulating agencies in developing rules and policies in the field of accounting, including in re-evaluating the PSAK 69. The article examines the impact of human resource practices on future employees in the transport and logistics sector where logistics companies operate. It presents the impact of the organization and implementation of industrial practices on the preparation of young specialists in the transport and logistics sectors and self-actualization of students. A research was conducted revealing how each industrial practice is actually perceived and accepted by a trainee, the industrial practice supervisor of a school of higher education and persons responsible for industrial practices in companies at the organizational level. The article also presents the expert assessment method and calculations of the compatibility of expert opinions. The obtained research results allowed developing a hypothetical model for the organization and implementation of the industrial practice process, which lists conditions for organizing and implementing industrial practices and potential results associated with the improvement of competencies, self-actualization of young specialists and concordance with study results.
