Soccer referees (SRs) encounter stressful situations during competitions and sometimes even outside them, which may affect their decision making. Therefore, it is important that they possess or acquire optimal levels of self-efficacy, since it is related to less stress during competition, also guaranteeing sports performance and prevent sports abandonment. The objectives of this study were to characterize the profile, in terms of self-efficacy, of SRs depending on their category, age, and experience and to determine the relationship of these factors on SR self-efficacy. Two-hundred fifty-six Spanish referees participated in this study and Referee Self-Efficacy Scale was administered and completed. The results indicated that the SRs older than 25 years, of national category, and with experience greater than or equal to 8 years, have higher levels of self-efficacy than those with the least (p < .01). Likewise, moderate positive correlations were also observed between global self-efficacy and the category, age, and experience of the SRs. In conclusion, age, category and experience factors relate the self-efficacy of the SR, which can explain up to 17% of the variance, affecting decision-making and other decisive behaviors in the competition. These findings are of interest to delegations and referee committees seeking to implement psychological intervention programs to prevent burnout and abandonment of sports practice due to the consequences of low self-efficacy.

Referees and officials are a very important part of competitive sports not only because of their impact on players' behaviors and game outcomes but also because they ensure that competitions are conducted safely according to specific rules of the game. The current study sought to evaluate the relationship of these various levels to perform in numerous aspects of officiating. A second purpose was to evaluate proposed sources of referee efficacy as predictors of referee efficacy levels and performance. Football referees (n=100) who were officially members of different sports playing departments of Pakistan included HEC, completed a survey questionnaire that measured the experience as an official. Categories of Football Referees were divided into three groups of age, 25-35, 36-45 and 46-55. The result reported that the age category of 46-55 years old football referees had an optimal level of self-efficacy than other age categories 25-35 and 36-45.

This study aims to determine the relationship of parental involvement to career decision making self-efficacy carried out in the sample involved as many as 400 students selected using cluster random sampling technique. The hypothesis that neuroticism and extraversion mediate the relationship between parental involvement and career decision makingself-efficacy. Methods of data collection using an adapted psychological scale. Data analysis method used is descriptive analysis and mediation analysis with corrected method bias bootstrap technique with 95% confidential intervals. The results showed that parental involvement predicts career decision making self-efficacy and extraversion, but cannot predict neuroticism, while neuroticism can predict the career decision makingself-efficacy, furthermore extraversion mediates the relationship of parental involvement with career decision making self-efficacy. This study provides counselors with an understanding of the relationship of parental involvement and the influence of personal aspects (self-efficacy and personality) in career selection.

Purpose – This study analyzes the relationship between self-efficacy and the stages of the decision-making process, based on the perception of the undergraduate students in bachelor degree in Business Administration.Design/methodology/approach – It characterizes as a descriptive research, with a quantitative approach, using the Structural Equation Modeling technique, and data collection performed through a survey.Findings – The results indicate an association between self-efficacy and the stages of the decision-making process, allowing partial acceptance of the research hypothesis. In this sense, Effectiveness towards Adversity and Social Efficacy are shown as elements to be observed in terms of developing skills, which enable the students to realize such constructs, since there is a significant relationship with behavior in the decision making process. Thus, self-efficacy is presented as a propeller of the individual's confidence in the challenges and experiences with interpersonal relationships, whose experience supports the cognitive process which enables the recognition of the situation and the actions to be developed. Moreover, it is worth noticing the relevance of considering behavioral aspects in decision-making studies; regarding to, as well, the current discussions about the limitations of rational decision models.Research limitations/implications – The cross-section time frame and the sample composition of academics at a university are limitations that can be overcome in the future.Originality/value - Analyzing the relationship of self-efficacy with the stages of the decision-making process becomes relevant, since it brings contributions on the relationship of subjective abilities with decision making, in order to highlight characteristics not covered by rational decision-making models.

This paper gives a review of the basic tenets of self-efficacy theory and discusses several theoretical issues, including the relationship of the theory to other theories of the cognitive mediation of behaviour. It is argued that similar concept, operationally equivalent to self-efficacy had already been investigated in psychology prior to the appearance of self- efficacy theory. The existence of similar models proves and documents the meaningfulness of the concept. Such models need to be looked upon as compatible and complementary instead of competitive.Convergent evidence from diverse lines of research attest to the explanatory and predictive generality of the self-efficacy theory.
