This study investigated the effect of Video modules e-learning approach on the students’ academic achievement in Basic Sciences in Imo State. Two purposes, two research questions and two hypotheses guided the study. The study is a quasi-experiment pre-test, post-test, control group design, involving two groups with analysis of covariance as post-hoc control. The population of the study consisted the entire year two students in Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education, Owerri in Imo State, which are 2,063. The sample consisted of 80 Economics and Political Science students, drawn from two classes in a school within the population. Purposive sampling technique was used to select the 40 students in each class and assigned the classes to experimental and control groups. Video Modules Instructional Package (VM-IP) and the Basic Sciences Achievement Test (BSAT) were used as the instrument for data collection, while mean rating, standard deviation and analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) were used to answer the research questions and test the hypotheses. The content and face validities of the instruments were established by two (2) experts in Educational Measurement and Evaluation,  two (2) lecturers teaching Basic Sciences, who after due corrections, fine-tuned them and certified them fit for administration. Pearson product moment correlation coefficients method was used to determine the reliability of the results obtained with the instrument; and to establish its construct validity that is inter correlations among items which yielded a reliability coefficient value of 0.88. Findings from the study indicated that Video Modules E-learning approach method had effect on the academic achievement of students in Basic Sciences. Conclusions were drawn and recommendations made from the findings of the study which includes that there is need for the incorporation of this e-learning approach into the teaching and learning of Basic Sciences in tertiary institutions in Imo State.

Conclusions were drawn and recommendations made from the findings of the study which includes that there is need for the incorporation of this e-learning approach into the teaching and learning of Economics in tertiary institutions in Imo State.

The main objective of the present study is to investigate the effect of implementing innovative learning approaches upon English students’ achievement. The study was quasi experimental study using the post-test only control group design involving 35 students altogether selected using census sampling technique. The instrument which is used to gather data in the study was test. There were two tests used to gather intended data. They were linguistic test and student achievement test. The obtained data were analyzed statistically using descriptive and inferential analysis. The analysis of covariance was conducted to test the hypotheses.

The study investigated the effectiveness of Co-operative E-learning approach (CELA) on students’ attitude towards Chemistry. The Solomon Four Group, Non-equivalent Control Group Design was employed in the study. The study was carried out in Koibatek sub-county, Kenya where there has been a persistent low achievement in the subject. 489 form three students from twelve county schools, purposively selected from the sub-county were taught the same course content on the mole for a period of five weeks. The experiment groups received their instructions through the use of CELA approach and control groups using the conventional teaching method. The researcher trained the teachers in the experimental groups on the technique of CELA before treatment. Student Attitude Questionnaire (SAQ) was used for data collection. The results of the study indicated that students in experimental groups outperformed those in the control groups. Also, there were no statistically significant differences in the mean score in SAQ between boys and girls exposed to CELA. Girls and boys performed equally well in altitudes towards Chemistry. Chemistry teachers should be encouraged to incorporate CELA method.

The purpose of this study is to determine whether the think pair share learning model with a  problem based learning approach is effective based on students' self-efficacy. This research is a quantitative research in the form of quasi-experimental research using a pretest-posttest control group design. The sample of the study was the students of X MIPA class of MAN Salatiga in the academic year 2018/2019, the sample was determined using the Cluster Random Sampling technique. Data was collected using a self-efficacy questionnaire consisting of 20 statements. The results of the study show that: (1) the results of the independent sample t test mean students' self-efficacy obtained a value of 0.035, (2) the average N-Gain score of self-efficacy of students who learned by using the think pair share model with a problem based learning approach of 0.36 while the average N-Gain score of self-efficacy of students who get conventional learning is only 0.23. Thus it can be concluded that the think pair share learning model with a problem based learning approach is effective based on the self-efficacy of X MIPA class of MAN Salatiga students in the academic year 2018/2019.

This study examines the effects of two phonics instructional modes on the reading achievement of Nigerian learners of English as a second language. The design of the study was quasi-experimental. The study specifically adopted the non-equivalent, non-randomized control group design. The sample of the study were 118 primary one school pupils who were drawn from four public primary schools in Enugu, South East, Nigeria using multi-stage sampling technique. The participants who were assigned to experimental and control groups were pretested and post tested. The experimental group was taught using synthetic phonics while the control group was taught using analytic phonics. Data were generated with Means, Standard Deviation and Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA). While Means and Standard Deviation were used to answer the research questions, ANCOVA was used to test the hypothesis at p<0.05. The findings of the study indicated that Synthetic phonics significantly improved pupils’ achievement in reading more than analytic phonics. Based on the findings, it was concluded that synthetic phonics is a more effective mode of teaching beginning reading than analytic phonics. A proper exposure of pre and in-service teachers to the techniques and activities involved in synthetic phonics as well as the adoption and proper implementation of the method for reading instruction in Nigerian primary schools were recommended.

This study determines the effect of internship experiential learning on students' academic achievement in utilization of model office technology in Federal Colleges of Education in south-south, Nigeria. Two specific purposes, two research questions and two hypotheses were posed to guide the study. Quasi-experimental research design with pretest, post-test, non-randomized groups was adopted. 86 N.C.E. Ill business education (OTME) students during the 2018/2019 academic session made up the population. The sample consisted of 45 and 41 N.C.E. III Business Education (OTME) students from Federal College of Education (Tech.), Asaba and 41 OTME students from Federal College of Education (Tech.), Omoku, Rivers State. Purposive sampling technique was used to select the sample for study. A rating scale questionnaire was used for determining the students' academic achievement in model office technologies utilization. The instrument was validated by three lecturers from Faculty of Education, Nnarndi Azikiwe University Awka, Anambra State. The rating scale was subjected to reliability of stability using test-retest method to obtain r-value of 0.90. Data collected were analysed using descriptive statistics of mean scores to answer research questions one. Independent t-test was used to test null hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. All data were computed using Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 0.16. The findings revealed those exposed to model office technologies using internship experiential learning scored higher than those in control group. The findings also revealed that both male and female benefited from internship experiential learning activities used for teaching model office technologies. In same vein, the results revealed significant difference in the academic scores of experimental as against that of control group. Based on the findings, it was recommended among others that Business education (OTME option) lecturers should try as much as possible to adopt, design and implement internship experiential learning when handling any course that has to do with model office technologies utilization in order to assist students to acquire the needed practical skills content.

This study investigated the effects of Cueing questions as instructional scaffolding on Secondary school students‟ interest in biology in Udi Education Zone, Enugu State. Quasi-experimental design, specifically the Pre-test, Post-test, Non-equivalent control group design was used. Three research questions and three null hypotheses were formulated to guide the study. A sample of 140 students from four intact classes purposively selected from government co-educational secondary schools in Udi Education Zone, were used for the study. The main instrument for the study was Biology Interest Inventory (BII) which was developed, validated and used for data collection. The data collected from BII was trail tested for reliability using Cronbach Alpha statistics. Reliability index of 0.86 was obtained which guaranteed the use of the instrument for the study. The treatment group was taught selected biology concepts using cueing questions as instructional scaffolding while the control group was taught without the cueing questions. The study lasted for 6 weeks. Data were analysed using mean and standard deviation to answer the research questions while analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) was used to test the null hypotheses at 0.05% level of significance . The findings indicated that cueing questions used as scaffold was more effective than the one without scaffold in enhancing interest in Biology. The finding equally indicated that there was a significant interaction effect of gender and strategies on students‟ mean interest scores in Biology.

This study adopted the quasi-experimental research design, precisely, pre-test, post-test nonequivalent control group design. The population for the study was 210 National Technical Certificate (NTC II) furniture craft technology students (175 males and 35 females) in Technical Colleges. This study was carried out in Zamfara and Katsina State. The analysis was guided by three research questions and three hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. The data were obtained with Furniture craft technology Cognitive Achievement Test (FTCAT) and Furniture craft technology Interest Inventory (FTII). The lesson plan, FTCAT, and FTII were subjected to face and content validation by three experts. The instrument was trial tested on a sample of 22 NTC II furniture craft technology students of Government Technical College FCT-Abuja. Kuder-Richardson 20(K-R20) and the Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient were utilized to establish the coefficient of internal consistency and stability of the FTCAT. The values were found to be 0.72 and 0.81 respectively. Data obtained from the administration of the instrument was examined with mean to answer the research questions and Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) statistic was used to test the hypotheses. The results showed that the Challenge-based learning approach is more successful in enhancing the students' achievement in furniture craft technology than the Activity-based learning approach. It was recommended that the Ministry of Education and National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) should organize workshops, seminars and in-service training for technical teachers regularly

The main problem of this research is how is the influence of the use of information technology media on the learning outcomes of students in Asahan's Fiqh X MAN subject. The subject matter is then broken down into a number of subproblems or research questions, namely: 1) How the learning outcomes of students in Asahan Class X Fiqh subject taught by using information technology media and, 2) How students learn in class Fiqh subjects X MAN Asahan who is not taught to use information technology media, 3) Is there any influence on student learning outcomes on subjects taught and those who are not taught using information technology media in class X MAN. This type of research is classified as quantitative (experimental quasy) which aims to determine the effect of information technology media on the class X MAN Fiqh Asahan subjects. With the research design used is Nonequivalent control group design. the sampling technique is purposive sampling. The method of data collection conducted by researchers is a test. The form of the test used is a multiple choice multiple choice objective test. The research results from the calculation of the value with the help of computer program Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 24.0 for windows illustrate that there are significant differences in learning outcomes between classes using Information Technology media and classes that do not use Information Technology media. This study sought to determine the effect ofconcept mapping on secondary school students‟ achievement and retention in physics. Four research questions and six hypotheses guided the study. Pretest-posttest non randomized control group design was adopted for the study. The study was conducted in Agbani education zone of Enugu State, where a sample of one hundred and fifty-six (156) senior secondary school one (SSS 1) students was drawn from four intact classes. Technique adopted for sampling was purposive multistage stratified random sampling. Instrument used for data collection was Physics Achievement Test (PAT). The instrument was constructed by the researcher and validated by three research experts. PAT yielded a stability coefficient of .71 obtained through test –retest approach. PAT also yielded a reliability coefficient of .65 obtained by Kudar-Richardson 20 formula. Research questions were answered using mean and standard deviation. Hypotheses were tested using Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA). Major findings of the study showed that the experimental group achieved higher and retained more physics than their counterparts in the control group. Also male and female students did not differ significantly in their achievement and retention in physics. It was recommended that concept mapping be used in teaching secondary school physics.
