This study identifies the impact of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and its impact on the branding of the company. Many business companies in Nepal have integrated CSR and philanthropic activities into day-to-day operations. The realization of social responsibility has led them to share their profit with humanity and getting engaged in various areas of social well-being. The result shows employees perceive a significant association on the branding of the company especially in the areas of social/community service, ethical, health, environmental and education activities.

Purpose Corporate social responsibility (CSR) influences an organization in deciding its ethical approaches in the corporate practices and also important to maintain sustainable development. Islamic banks are capturing almost 40% of the total bank account holders in Bangladesh and contributing to the socio-economic and environmental development of the country through their CSR activities. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the impacts of CSR activities of Islamic banks for sustainable development in Bangladesh from the perception of the beneficiaries. Design/methodology/approach This study is based on a questionnaire survey of 200 conveniently selected beneficiaries from five purposively selected Islamic banks in Bangladesh. Respondents’ agreement score for various CSR-related activities has been observed in a five-point Likert scale and, finally, to identify the impact of CSR, exploratory factor analysis has been done. Findings Results revealed that respondents are expressing strong agreement for almost all the activities, and they are much satisfied with ongoing CSR activities by Islamic banks, which implies positive attitudes of beneficiaries regarding CSR activities. The results of factor analysis further confirm the perception of respondents toward CSR activities of Islamic banks in terms of social enhancement, education and health, socio-economic well-being and contemporary arts and culture. Originality/value The Islamic banks should enhance their CSR activities for socio-economic development, provide more allocation in education programs, increase sponsorship in sports events and assist in flourishing Bangladeshi arts and culture.

Innovation is a complex process and has been shown to be influential towards different types of stakeholders. From the viewpoint of stakeholder theory, shareholders and creditors are more likely to be concerned about corporate financial performance. However, in the new era an enterprise’s responsibilities have to extend to other stakeholders, including its employees, suppliers and communities. This study aims to extend the literature by examining the individual effects of product and process innovations, and then their interactions with external collaboration, on firm performance and corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities in terms of local contributions for a sample of Vietnamese manufacturing firms during 2011–2013. Research findings suggest that process and product innovations are beneficial to firm performance in terms of market share, but not return on total assets. This implies that investment in innovative activities requires time to make positive changes in profitability, but it may help with winning customer loyalty. We also find evidence suggesting that innovation could make firms more obscure, especially when there are external parties involved. This motivates firms to send signals about their sustainability and goodwill through corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities. With regard to CSR activities, we are the first to provide a breakdown of categories of corporate social contribution towards the local well-being, and elaborate evidence on the effect of innovation on each category, rather than just a composite index of CSR as in some extant studies.

The following paper promotes the idea of intergenerational equity in the corporate world as Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) means to coordinating the common goods and imbuing economic stability beyond a purely governmental approach. The outlined intergenerational equity constraints herald a call for intergenerational equity – the fairness to provide an at least as favorable standard of living as enjoyed today. As an implicit contract and transfer between living and future generations, intergenerational equity avoids discriminating against future generations and ensures future infrastructure, equal opportunities over time and constant access to social welfare for the youth. Intergenerational equity grants a favorable climate between generations and alleviates frictions arising from the negative impacts of intergenerational inequity. Outlining some of the causes of the current intergenerational imbalances regarding climate stability and overindebtedness prepares for recommendations on how to implement intergenerational transfers. The impact of intergenerational transfers on societal well-being is discussed. Future research avenues comprise of investigating situational factors influencing intergenerational leadership in the international arena in order to advance the idea of the private sector aiding on intergenerational imbalances and tackling the most pressing contemporary challenges of humankind.

Abstract Corporate social responsibility (CSR) can contribute to the triple bottom line of economic, social and environmental performance in organizations. However, the relationship between CSR, employee health and well-being has not been frequently assessed despite an increased awareness that this relationship can contribute to sustainable workplaces. To identify studies addressing the relationship between CSR and employee health and well-being within the EuCIropean context, we conducted a systematic literature search using Web of Science and Medline. Of the 60 articles screened for inclusion, 16 were retained. The results suggest that the majority (n = 14) of the identified studies aimed to understand the impact of CSR strategies on employees’ job satisfaction. None of the studies investigated the relationship between internal CSR and physical health. There was no clarity in the measurement of either internal CSR or the extent to which it affected employee outcomes. There is a need for consensus on measurement of internal CSR and of the health and well-being-related outcomes. Public health and occupational health researchers should be part of the discussion on the potential role of CSR in physical and psychological health outcomes beyond job satisfaction.

In the modern business environment organisations need to address two important aspects affecting their operations: the quality of management and the impact of their operations on the well-being of the society in which they operate. This dualism often results in economic, political and social dilemmas influencing the viability of organisations in general, and more specifically and recently, local and international pharmaceutical organisations operating in South Africa. This article considers the aspect of corporate social responsibility (CSR) in general and attempts to identify the social-related issues impacting on the pharmaceutical industry by means of content analysis - a research technique for making replicable and valid inferences from data. It furthermore describes the re-action of pharmaceutical organisations when confronted with such social demands, and finally analyses the management of CSR against four criteria of CSR. The article confirms the importance of managers to manage CSR towards society in a proactive manner. It furthermore suggests that the "hard" factors of strategic management and financial performance should be balanced with "soft" social/people issues. It also recommends that the industry should consider - and if applicable - endorse the concept of Issues Management as an approach to the proactive management of CSR.

Although the impact of entrepreneurs’ social identity on successful entrepreneurship has attracted much scholarly attention, it is often to evaluate successful entrepreneurship through direct channel to financial performance. Recently, there is a growing body of researches beginning to pay attention to the impact of entrepreneurs’ social identity on corporate social responsibility (CSR) regarded as indirect social aspect channel to successful entrepreneurship. However, little is known regarding how entrepreneurs’ Darwinian social identity affects CSR, which in turn, affects business performance. This study addresses this issue by combining stakeholder theory with social identity theory, to investigate the relationship between entrepreneurs’ Darwinian social identity and business performance via CSR. In addition, the moderating effect of entrepreneur’s well-being is further examined to uncover the interaction effect of the individual psychological resource on business performance. The empirical results indicate that entrepreneurs’ Darwinian social identity contributes positively to CSR, so as further to business performance. In addition, this relationship is further found to be significantly moderated by entrepreneurs’ well-being. The results indicate that entrepreneurs can achieve business success via CSR, by which entrepreneurs can further acquire successful entrepreneurship through caring more about their well-being.

Aims: The purpose of this study is to explore the consciousness of customers of different company on awareness of corporate social responsibility related activities of the different companies for building brands in Nepal.  Study Design: A quantitative methodology in the form of statistical analysis of the results was derived from the responses of a customer on to find out how CSR activities can be used in building brands in the different product used in Nepal. Place and Duration of Study: A total of 452 consumers from various sites of Kathmandu valley from June 2018 to January 2019. Methodology: This research applied a quantitative methodology using a survey questionnaire. Data were collected using semi-structured questionnaires distributed to public people who were using different products of Kathmandu Nepal. Convenience sampling was used in the distribution of the survey. Results: The majority (40%) of the participants strongly agreed on giving values to female employees. Majority of the participants were agreed on different forms of CSR health activities done by the companies on affecting a branding. Conclusion: Working on CSR social/community service, ethical CSR activities, CSR health activities and CSR environmental activities shall improve brand reputation.

The article explores the evolution of the social responsibility concept along with discussing its specifics in the area of higher education. In particular, it is noted that the core of social responsibility is the idea that organizations should strive not only to make their own profits but also to be aware of the multiple effects from their activities to society. In this context, corporate social responsibility is viewed as bringing together the interests of the company and society. Particular emphasis is put towards the analysis of the impact of corporate social responsibility which is primarily related to ethical and transparent behavior and promotes sustainable development, health and well-being in society subject to stakeholder expectations and compliance with current regulations and standards. The study reveals that like other marketing factors initially associated with the commercial settings, social responsibility has expanded to the non-commercial sector, including education. The hypothesis of the study is a statement that social responsibility of universities for their decisions and activities and their impact on society and the environment is being realized through transparent and ethical strategies. The purpose of this study is to trace the history of developing social responsibility in higher education institutions in Ukraine. To attain the research agenda, descriptive analysis, as well as research and confirmatory factor analysis were employed; quantitative data were collected through a questionnaire developed on the basis of a literature review and the qualitative research results. The study has revealed a close correlation between the economic, natural and social environments, in particular, by creating new rules for the higher education system in Ukraine. The findings present a history of interpreting the notion of social responsibility in higher education in Ukraine which reflects the understanding of the complexity and the multifaceted nature of this concept from different perspectives: economic, social or environmental. Therefore, the ultimate priorities can vary greatly. The study asserts that the contribution of social responsibility into the growth of the nation's well-being, associated with the quality and growing effects of the higher education system and its institutions, is of a critical importance. It is argued that the implementation of research-based policies and the use of best practices of European universities in a particular area of social responsibility will facilitate better understanding of the basic principles of social responsibility, illustrating and modeling its values, principles and behaviours needed to find new socially responsible solutions to modern humanity challenges.

The current research investigates the impact of internal corporate social responsibility on job satisfaction in Jordanian pharmaceutical companies. Quantitative research design and regression analysis were applied on a total of 302 valid returns that were obtained in a questionnaire based survey from 14 pharmaceutical companies among employees, supervisors and managers. The results showed that internal corporate social responsibility was significantly related to job satisfaction and three of its dimensions, namely working conditions, work life balance and empowerment contributed significantly to job satisfaction, whereas employment stability and skills development had no contribution. This study implies that Jordanian pharmaceutical companies have to try their best to promote and facilitate internal corporate social responsibility among their employees in an effort to improve their job satisfaction, which will eventually yield positive results for the company as a whole. In light of these results, the research presented many recommendations for future research; the most important ones were the application of this study in other sectors, cultures, and countries, and using of multi method for collecting data.
