Cancer patients are considered one of the most vulnerable to infection with Corona virus (COVID-19), especially who are elderly, multiple comorbidities, and are often immunosuppressed by their cancer or therapy. The immune system of cancer patients is very weak compared to the healthy individuals, so, morbidity and mortality of any serious infections expected to be high among them. This research aims to study the impact of COVID-19 pandemic on cancer patients practices in Saudi Arabia (KSA) and compare with the result in Egypt. It was conducted through a well-structured questionnaire, among cancer patients either online (KSA) or paper questionnaire (Egypt). The questionnaire consists of 16 questions about Scio-demographic and changes in time and method of treatment (chemotherapy and radiotherapy), postponed of surgical operations. Our results showed significant differences between KSA and Egypt hospital practices; cancer department was affected by postponed appointment (54.8% & 63.3%), diagnosis (32.7% & 60%) and treatment of cancer patients (37.1% & 63.3%) respectively. Also, postponed of chemotherapy/radiotherapy (56.8% & 73.3%), surgical operations (45% & 43.3%), an increase in the deterioration of cancer by (35.5% & 23.3%), switching from parenteral injection to oral (27.8% & 56.7%) and changing in the drug doses (19.5% & 40%) in KSA and Egypt respectively. We can conclude that management of cancer patients during COVID-19 pandemic of great importance and so, switching from parenteral to oral, prolongation of the treatment period and postponed of some surgical operations gave a good opportunity to maintain adequate care of cancer patient with minimum exposure of patients to infection.

Abstract Background: The aim of this paper is to compare the patterns and determinants of cancer mortality in Najran region before and after the COVID-19 epidemics. The association between cancer mortality and each of age, sex, site of cancer, stage, and the 30-days survival rate after the last dose of chemotherapy were assessed.Materials & Methods: Adult cancer patients who died of cancer in King Khalid Hospital in Najran Saudi Arabia, were included in this retrospective observational study. We compared mortality patterns in a period of 6 months in 2020 (March to August) with the corresponding period of 2019.Results: 50 dead adult cancer patients were included, 24 in 2019 and 26 in 2020. Among them, 21% vs 42% were younger than 65 years of age; 61% vs 62% were males, for the years 2019 & 2020 respectively. The top three killers in 2019 were colorectal, gastro-esophageal cancers, and hepatocellular carcinoma, while in 2020 were colorectal, hepatocellular carcinoma, and lymphomas. About 16.7% of patients died within 30 days of receiving anti-cancer treatment in 2019 in comparison with 7.7% in 2020. The difference in the 30-days mortality after receiving anti-cancer treatment was not statistically significant between 2019 and 2020 (p = 0.329).Conclusion: The Year 2020, the time of the COVID-19pandemic, was not associated with a significant increase in short-term mortality among patients with malignancy in Najran, Saudi Arabia. Our results generally reflect the crucial role of strict preventive national measures in saving lives and warrants further exploration.

This study deals with the use of remote sensing (RS), geographic information systems (GISs), hydrologic modeling (water modeling system, WMS), and hydraulic modeling (Hydrologic Engineering Center River Analysis System, HEC-RAS) to evaluate the impact of flash flood hazards on the sustainable urban development of Tabuk City, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). Determining the impact of flood hazards on the urban area and developing alternatives for protection and prevention measures were the main aims of this work. Tabuk City is exposed to frequent flash flooding due to its location along the outlets of five major wadis. These wadis frequently carry flash floods, seriously impacting the urban areas of the city. WMS and HEC-HMS models and RS data were used to determine the paths and morphological characteristics of the wadis, the hydrographic flow of different drainage basins, flow rates and volumes, and the expansion of agricultural and urban areas from 1998 to 2018. Finally, hydraulic modeling of the HEC-RAS program was applied to delineate the urban areas that could be inundated with floodwater. Ultimately, the most suitable remedial measures are proposed to protect the future sustainable urban development of Tabuk City from flood hazards. This approach is rarely used in the KSA. We propose a novel method that could help decision-makers and planners in determining inundated flood zones before planning future urban and agricultural development in the KSA.

The study aimed to identify the impact of E-Commerce (regulations and legislations, infrastructure, manpower) on stimulating investment in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. We applied the descriptive-analytical method for achieving the study objectives. The questionnaire was administered to collect the data that were then analyzed using the SPSS system to provide answers for related questions and hypotheses. A random sample of 250 volunteering investors was taken, and the number of respondents reached 202 respondents, which represents 81% of the study population. We found that there is a significant impact of E-Commerce on motivating the investment and the existence of a statistically significant correlation between the independent variables as a whole were confirmed. The study also finds a substantial impact of the age variable on the investment in the KSA at the level (α=0.05), and the differences emerge of the age group (31-40). A few recommendations are provided, such as intensifying the studies within the subject domain by using different research methods. Further, another recommendation is to conduct different practical scientific studies on the state level to develop a structured and gradual mechanism for converting 85% of the conventional retail sector to E-Commerce in accordance with the KSA vision in 2030.

The study examined the effect of the impact of manufacturing industries on the economic growth in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia، and to analyze the size of manufacturing growth and its contribution to economic growth. This study is based on the descriptive analytical approach to identify the development of manufacturing industries in Saudi Arabia and the size of its impact on the growth of the Saudi economy and also based on the methodology of standard analysis using time series data، and the application of unit root testing and common integration and multiple linear regression by applying an Ordinary Least Square (OLS)، to examine the relationship between the rate of economic growth، the rate of GDP of manufacturing، the rate of oil exports، the rate of industrial loans، and the rate of exports of manufacturing industries. The results indicate to negative impact of manufacturing industries، oil exports and industrial exports on economic growth in the long term، despite their positive impact in the short term and the existence of a direct correlation between the rate of growth of oil exports and economic growth in the short term، and the inverse relationship of industrial loans and industrial exports on economic growth. The study summarized several recommendations، including that decision-makers need to pay attention to manufacturing industries and oil exports taking into account the long- term risks of global oil markets and import prices، and the adoption of more extensive policies with regard to industrial loans and maximize industrial exports to affect economic growth positively.
