The unemployment among university students become main issues in Malaysia since the increasing number of umnemployed graduates from higher education institution. In order to minimize this issue, entrepreneurship become one of the main solutions especially for higher education institution in Malaysia. This including the Kolej Islam Antarabangsa Sultan Ismail Petra (KIAS), Kelantan, Malaysia which provided entrepreneurship as main core subjects for their program of studies. Thus, this research tends to examine the factors that influence entrepreneurial intention among diploma student at Kolej Islam Antarabangsa Sultan Ismail Petra (KIAS) by using The Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB). Quantitative research design has been where 100 set of questionnaires has been distributed to target respondents in order to get the necessary information. All data were panalyzed using SmartPLS software. The finding shows that attitude and entrepreneurial education are significant towards entrepreneurship intention. Therefore, this study is expected to provide a significant insight towards higher institutions, public as well as government about entrepreneurial intention.

Orientation: Certain human resource (HR) competencies are essential to assist with the dynamics of change in the higher education landscape.Research purposes: The aim of this study was to determine the HR competencies at a merged higher education institution. Other objectives were to establish the satisfaction of academics, administrative staff and management regarding the HR competencies and the importance thereof.Motivation for the study: Human resource professionals require assistance by providing HR competencies necessary to add value at a merged higher education institution.Research designs, approaches and methods: A quantitative research design was employed as the research strategy. The questionnaire was based on the literature, the business plan and the HR balanced scorecard report. The target population was 1363 permanent staff on one campus and the response rate was 28%. A principal factor analysis, spider charts and box plots were utilised for data analysis. The results indicated business knowledge, HR practices, personal skills and management skills as the vital HR competencies.Practical implications: Staff were not satisfied with the current HR competencies and consequently this necessitated attention to improve the deficient areas.Contribution: This study shows that limited research was done with regard to HR competencies in the South African higher education backdrop.

Entrepreneurship ecosystem development is new concept to support entrepreneurship education in higher education institution. The objective of this research is to analyze the relevance between entrepreneurship education and university environment to encoura ge student entrepreneurial intention in higher education institution. Higher education institution is university or higher institution in West Java, Indonesia, that have business faculty or entrepreneurship subject in their study of program, also supportin g by conducive environment that liven up entrepreneurial activity. The population of the research are students in University/Institution in surrounding West Java Area that already learned entrepreneurship subject and operated business simulation in real wo rld. Quantitative method by survey is used for this research. Data collection is using questionnaire with likert scale 1 - 7. Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) is use to analyze data to justify the significancy of the model. The novelty of this research is to see the relationship between entrepreneurial education and campus environment toward student entrepreneurial motivation and intention as one holistic system that influence each other. Also, the results of this research can be used to development repreneurial higher education institution ecosystem model in Indonesia

While the current global context of successive economic and health crises are punishing the economies of different countries in the world, it is particularly relevant to explore the business intentions of young university students, as potential entrepreneurs of opportunity. This matter is of the utmost importance, as it helps to facilitate the implementation of measures that can ensure the future recovery of the economy and the creation of new businesses. The objective of this paper is to study the institutional and psychological antecedents of entrepreneurial intention and the role of gender. The theory of planned behaviour is applied to assess how personal attitudes, subjective norms, and perceived behavioural control can affect students′ intention of becoming an entrepreneur. In addition, organizational support and institutional barriers are tested as potentially significant antecedents of entrepreneurial intention, along with the influence of gender. The research carried out was based on survey responses from a sample of 740 students of economics, communications, and education at an Ecuadorian university. The research propositions were tested using a partial least squares approach. Results indicate that behaviour towards entrepreneurship does not change in relation to gender. In addition, personal attitudes and perceived behavioural control regarding entrepreneurship are positively related to students′ entrepreneurial intention. Organizational support is also found to be important for generating entrepreneurial intention. The paper adds to the current knowledge base on entrepreneurial intention by analysing the individual and joint influence of the principal elements of the theory of planned behaviour, as well as organizational support and institutional barriers on entrepreneurial intentions. Moreover, the research provides a useful perspective on the antecedents of entrepreneurial intention in an unexplored context such as Ecuador, by responding to the call focusing on entrepreneurial intention in different regions, cultures, and contexts.

There are existing approaches to evaluate the results of higher education institutions activity described in the article. Legislative basis of the task of evaluating productivity and frugality of using budget funds by higher education institutions is built. Content of notions “productivity” and “frugality” concerning usage of budget funds is specified. To evaluate productivity and frugality of usage of budget funds by higher education institutions necessary instrumental tools are formed. They contain requirements for indicators, descriptive and phenomenological approaches, structural and matrix methods. Some requirements for indicators to evaluate productivity and frugality of usage of budget funds by higher education institutions are suggested. They are informational adequacy, content stability, coherence, quantitative form, simplicity of calculation, unambiguousness of calculation, ability to find primary data for calculation etc. There are main kinds of activity of higher education institutions considered to evaluate productivity and frugality of usage of budget funds. They are educational, innovative, scientific, and methodical activities. There are some quantitative indicators suggested for every considered kind of activity of higher education institutions in the article. To find risks of unproductive and non-frugal usage of budget funds by higher institutions necessary facts and signals are suggested. Existence of such facts and signals in activity of any higher education institution can be considered as evidence of additional risks including risks of corruption.

This article brings within two purposes. First it validated the scale of the New Ecological Paradigm (NEP) and then analyzed the ecocentrist and anthropocentric attitudes of university students from a Brazilian higher education institution. The original NPE scale of 15 items was used, in the form of a questionnaire and applied in a sample of 241 university students. Before the self-completion of the questionnaires, the university students did not receive the basic concepts of environmental attitudes. Confirmatory factor analysis techniques were used to test the structural model and statistical procedures to describe the sample as to its properties of similarities between the groups of students. The NEP was reduced to 13 items, proving to be reliable and valid to investigate structured and multidimensional environmental attitudes of university students. When analyzing the segmentation of university students, it was identified that women presented a more intense ecocentrist attitude than men. For the other segmentation groups in relation to age range, area of knowledge, semester in progress and course period, they did not present statistically significant differences. However, overall, the scores of university students indicated more ecocentrist than anthropocentrist attitudes. The convenience sample of part of the courses offered by the higher education institution may cause a bias in the research, considering as a limitation of this study. However, with the confirmation of the two-factor model, the results indicate consistency and guide future research to activities related to the environment, such as sustainable tourism, preservation against environmental impacts, among others.

In these times of globalization, reengineering, of systematic processes in which higher institutions play a preponderant and transforming role; from this perspective universities justify their existence by promoting the formation of new entrepreneurs with a humanistic, technological and scientific spirit, through the necessary tools for students to develop their skills in their specialties in the world of work. In this context it is necessary to identify the level of articulation in the formative process of the new administrators of companies that are formed in our institution with the growing demands of entrepreneurship.

The purpose of this study was to identify the preference level of the human values that students from a higher education institution endorse during August 2016-June 2017 school year, based on the Portrait Value Questionnaire. For this purpose, the basic values of Benevolence, Universalism, Stimulation, Power, Security, Tradition, Hedonism, Self-Direction, Achievement, and Conformity were studied. The study was exploratory, following a nonexperimental cross-sectional design. The sample was composed of 321 students from a higher education institution in Mexico. 67.6% (217) of the students were female, whereas 32.4% (104) were male. Their ages ranged from 18 to 30 years old. The Portrait Value Questionnaire devised by Shalom Schwartz was administered to them. The most important findings revealed that the basic values of Hedonism, Benevolence, and Self-Direction were highly preferred by the students, whereas the basic value of Achievement scored a preference level below the average. These findings highlighted the importance of identifying the portrait values of university students, so higher education institutions can establish appropriate strategies and actions that foster the students’ development in order to make them professionals with values.

Purpose This study aims to examine university students’ acceptance of e-learning systems in Pakistan. A Web-based learning system is a new form of utilizing technological features. Although, developed countries have initiated and established the concept for e-learning, developing countries require empirical support to implement e-learning. Design/methodology/approach This paper further explains a conceptual model that is based on the technology acceptance model (TAM). Earlier theories such as the theory of reasoned action (TRA), theory of planned behaviour (TPB) and decomposed theory of planned behaviour (DTPB) have been conducted on user behavioural intention (BI). TAM is considered as the most relevant framework in a Web-based context. To analyse the present study’s hypothesized model, structural equation modelling (SEM) has been used to statistically analyse self-reported sample data from 424 university students. Findings The results revealed that TAM, with the combination of new constructs, explains university students’ acceptance of the e-learning system reasonably well. Additionally, work life quality (WLQ) and facilitating conditions (FC) have a greater influence on the BI and the actual use (AU) of the e-learning system, respectively. Originality/value The study has also provided valuable implications for academics and practitioners for ways to enhance the acceptance of the e-learning system in the higher education of Pakistan.

Purpose - Blended learning is rapidly emerging as a domain for practice and research. Across disciplines and contexts, at individual instructor and institution levels, educators are experimenting with the blended learning model of instruction. The current generation of learners have been referred to as ‘digital natives’ in reflection of their apparent ease and familiarity with digital technology. However, questions remain about how ready students are for a blended learning model of instruction. The purpose of the study was to investigate students’ readiness for a blended learning model of instruction in a leading Malaysian higher education institution. Methodology - The study employed a non-experimental quantitative research design. Data were gathered from a sample of 235 undergraduate and 131 postgraduate students using the Blended Learning Readiness Engagement Questionnaire (BLREQ). The data was analysed using the WINSTEPS Rasch model measurement software to determine the validity and reliability of the instrument. Differential Item Functioning (DIF) analysis was also used to identify responses based on students’ demographic profiles. Findings - Findings identified that students were ready for blended learning. Further analysis indicated that there were differences in students’ readiness for blended learning based on gender, age, ethnicity, field of study, and level of education. Significance - This study provides insights on students’ readiness towards blended learning, particularly in the Malaysian context, discusses implications for blended learning practices in higher education institutions, and offers recommendations for future research.

The sector service is what has the highest employability index in the country and is even the one with the largest participation in the world economy. In this sense, there is evidence of increased awareness of organizations that improvement has to come from the inside out. Thus, this research aims to demonstrate the competitive importance of the maintenance sector of a Higher Education Institution (HEI) through the application of the importance-performance matrix. As for the methodological procedures, this study is characterized by exploratory and quantitative research. A set of criteria to be evaluated within the organizational performance objectives was created in conjunction with maintenance staff and an IES strategic sector manager. As a result, an HEI demonstrated good performance in most of the criteria, generated an exception of one of the criteria that was out in the areas that need improvement actions, the accomplishment of the results by the matrix is important.
