<span>This paper presents the design and simulation of a hyperchaotic communication system based on four dimensions (4D) Lorenz generator. The synchronization technique that used between the master/transmitter and the slave/receiver is based on dynamic feedback modulation technique (DFM). The mismatch error between the master dynamics and slave dynamics are calculated continuously to maintain the sync process. The information signal (binary image) is masked (encrypted) by the hyperchaotic sample x of Lorenz generator. The design and simulation of the overall system are carried out using MATLAB Simulink software. The simulation results prove that the system is suitable for securing the plain-data, in particular the image data with a size of 128×128 pixels within 0.1 second required for encryption, and decryption in the presence of the channel noise. The decryption results for gray and colored images show that the system can accurately decipher the ciphered image, but with low level distortion in the image pixels due to the channel noise. These results make the proposed cryptosystem suitable for real time secure communications.</span>

AbstractAn algorithm that integrates the improved artificial fish swarm algorithm with continuous segmented Bézier curves is proposed, aiming at the path planning and smoothing of mobile robots. On the one hand, to overcome the low accuracy problems, more inflection points and relatively long planning paths in the traditional artificial fish swarm algorithm for path planning, feasible solutions and a range of step sizes are introduced based on Dijkstra's algorithm. To solve the problems of poor convergence and degradation that hinder the algorithm's ability to find the best in the later stage, a dynamic feedback horizon and an adaptive step size are introduced. On the other hand, to ensure that the planned paths are continuous in both orientation and curvature, the Bessel curve theory is introduced to smooth the planned paths. This is demonstrated through a simulation that shows the improved artificial fish swarm algorithm achieving 100% planning accuracy, while ensuring the shortest average path in the same grid environment. Additionally, the smoothed path is continuous in both orientation and curvature, which satisfies the kinematic characteristics of the mobile robot.

This paper examines the strategic interactions of two large regions making choices about greenhouse gas emissions in the face of rising global temperatures. Three central features are highlighted: uncertainty, the incentive for free riding, and asymmetric characteristics of decision makers. Optimal decisions are modelled in a fully dynamic, feedback Stackelberg pollution game. Global average temperature is modelled as a mean reverting stochastic process. A numerical solution of a coupled system of Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman equations is implemented and the probability distribution of outcomes is illustrated with Monte Carlo simulation. When players are identical, the outcome of the game is much worse than the social planner’s outcome. An increase in temperature volatility reduces player utility, making cooperative action through a social planner more urgent. Asymmetric damages or asymmetric preferences for emissions reductions are shown to have important effffects on the strategic interactions of players.

In this paper, we carry out a demonstration and comparative analysis of known methods of the synthesis of various control laws ensuring the invariance of the output (controlled) variable with respect to external disturbances under various assumptions about their type and channels of acting on the control plant. Methods of the synthesis are presented on the example of a third-order nonlinear system with single input and single output (SISO-systems), dynamic feedback synthesis is presented at a descriptive level and the focus is on procedures of static feedback synthesis. For the systems in which the matching conditions are not satisfied, it is concluded that it is expedient to introduce smooth and bounded nonlinear local feedbacks. Within the framework of the block control principle, we developed an iterative procedure of synthesis of S-shaped sigmoid feedbacks for such systems. Nonlinear local feedbacks ensure stabilization of the output variable with the given accuracy and settling time as in a system with traditionally used linear local feedbacks with high gains. However, in contrast to it, sigmoid functions do not lead to a large overshoot of state variables and control actions.

<p>A potentially parallel iterative algorithm for the solution of the unconstrained N-stage decision problem of Dynamic Programming is developed. This new solution method, known as Variable Metric Dynamic Programming, is based on the use of variable metric minimisation techniques to develop quadratic approximations to the optimal cost function for each stage. The algorithm is applied to various test problems, and a comparison with an existing similar algorithm proves favourable. The Variable Metric Dynamic Programming solution method is used in the implementation of an adaptive highlevel scheduling mechanism on a multiprogrammed computer in a university environment. This demonstrates a practical application of the new algorithm. More importantly, the application of Variable Metric Dynamic Programming to a scheduling problem illustrates how Mathematical Programming may be used in complex computer scheduling problems to provide in a natural way the required dynamic feedback mechanisms.</p>

AbstractWe estimate the U.S. temperature response profile (TRP) for COVID-19 and show it is highly sensitive to temperature variation. Replacing the erratic daily death counts U.S. states initially reported with counts based on death certificate date, we build a week-ahead statistical forecasting model that explains most of their daily variation (R2 = 0.97) and isolates COVID-19’s TRP (p < 0.001). These counts, normalized at 31 °C (U.S. mid-summer average), scale up to 160% at 5 °C in the static case where the infection pool is held constant. Positive case counts are substantially more temperature sensitive. When temperatures are declining, dynamic feedback through a growing infection pool can substantially amplify these temperature effects. Our estimated TRP can be incorporated into COVID-related planning exercises and used as an input to SEIR models employed for longer run forecasting. For the former, we show how our TRP is predictive of the realized pattern of growth rates in per capita positive cases across states five months after the end of our sample period. For the latter, we show the variation in herd immunity levels implied by temperature-driven, time-varying R0 series for the Alpha and Delta variants of COVID-19 for several representative states.

In this paper, a novel formation control strategy is proposed to address the target tracking and circumnavigating problem of multi-UAV formation. First, two sets of definitions, space angle definition and space vector definition, are presented in order to describe the flight state and construct the desired relative velocity. Then, the relative kinematic model between the UAV and the moving target is established. The distributed control law is constructed by using dynamic feedback linearization so as to realize the tracking and circumnavigating control with the desired velocity, circling radius and relative angular spacing. Next, the exponential stability of the closed-loop system is further guaranteed by properly choosing some corresponding parameters based on the Lyapunov method. Finally, the numerical simulation is carried out to verify the effectiveness of the proposed control method.
