Increasing competition in the organizational environment and strengthening human capital can greatly contribute to the ability to close existing gaps in the development process and ensure a more competitive level, and the professional development process includes not only setting career goals and training agreements, but also evaluations and the feedback needed to assess progress. By optimizing nonverbal skills and forming impression management strategies promoted by psychological training in enhancing the knowledge and skills of police employees, they serve as a basis for organizational projects designed to facilitate self-realization of internal potential and stimulate their involvement in the organization. Organizational behavior is the study of the behaviors of individuals, which involves understanding, predicting and controlling human behavior, models and structures, in order to improve the environment, performance and efficiency of the organization. The original of this paper is that the research results led to the identification of components and mechanisms for producing change at the macro-, meso- and microsocial level, which uses a perpetual mobilization of social actors in organizations. Another novelty, for a wider geographical area of ​​scientific research, is the application of an intervention methodology in the training impression management strategies through nonverbal communication, with the purpose and purpose in developing relational skills and optimizing professional activity. The information obtained in research on nonverbal communication and impression management tactics on the organizational environment, can be applied for the development of programs for organizational counseling activities, business coaching and large-scale developmental training, promoted through managerial and corporate profile.

Background: The nurse's verbal and non-verbal communication greatly affects the readiness of the patient and the patient's family to undergo surgery. Unclear communication causes misperceptions and the emergence of communication barriers in the nurse-client interaction process. The limited time and information provided are the causes of communication barriers in the client care process. This of course greatly affects patient care, especially in conditions that require intensive care. Methods: This study aims to determine the relationship between verbal and non-verbal communication between nurses and perceptions of communication barriers in families of pre-surgery patients in the intensive care unit, with a correlation design using a Cross Sectional study approach. The number of samples was 95 families of preoperative patients in the intensive care unit using purposive sampling technique. Results: 51.6% of nurses' verbal communication was good, and 50.5% of nurses' nonverbal communication was good, and there were no communication barriers between nurses and patients' families (54.7%). There was a significant relationship between nurses' verbal communication with perceptions of family communication barriers in pre-surgery patients in the intensive room (P=0.001) and there was a correlation between nurses' nonverbal communication with perceptions of family communication barriers in pre- surgery patients in the intensive room (P=0.002). Recommendation: Nurses are expected to continue to communicate effectively verbal and non-verbal with patients and families to prevent barriers in communication

Three programs, DropTalk, Parent-Teacher Notebook, and SmileNote, were developed by teachers at schools for special needs education to help students with various disabilities, in collaboration with businesses supportive of students with disabilities. DropTalk was developed to help students with nonverbal communication by using Pictogram and text overlaid with voice/sound. A digital-based Parent-Teacher Notebook was developed to share the valuable data on each student between their home and school. The shared data are effectively used to build up individual support plans. SmileNote was developed to help students with nonverbal communication disabilities present their wills, hopes, and desires to the classmates and others. In this chapter, the aims and valuable functions in three software applications are described in detail, and self-made contents created with the software and gifted school activities conducted at several schools for special needs education are depicted.

Busana secara simbolik merupakan bentuk komunikasi nonverbal yang dapat mengikat suatu komunitas. Pemuda hijrah dalam komunitas Shift di Y outube berusaha menyajikan keberagaman busana dan citra simbolis dalam video-video dakwah yang menampilkan Ustaz Hanan Attaki. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana representasi busana muslim yang ditampilkan oleh Pemuda Hijrah di Channel Youtube Shift Media dalam rangka menarik perhatian generasi milenial. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah studi etnografi virtual, dengan pendekatan kualitatif yang bersifat deskriptif dan menggunakan teori interaksi simbolik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan representasi busana muslim yang ditampilkan dalam video komunikasi dakwah Pemuda Hijrah di Channel Youtube Shift Media bertujuan untuk melakukan pembauran dengan jamaah anak muda. Dengan menentukan segmentasi khalayak, kreator Channel Youtube Shift Media mencoba untuk menggeser busana muslim menjadi busana kasual yang lebih dekat dengan milenial saat mendatangi kegiatan kajian dakwah. Proses kontruksi makna denotatif busana muslim ditandai oleh Ustaz Hanan Attaki yang kerap tampil dengan menggunakan kemeja, kaos atau sweater dan penutup kepala model reggae (topi kupluk).Symbolically, clothing is a form of nonverbal communication that can bind a community. Pemuda Hijrah in the Shift community on Youtube tries to present various clothing and symbolic images in da'wah videos featuring Ustaz Hanan Attaki. This study aims to find out how Pemuda Hijrah displays the representation of Muslim clothing on the Shift Media Youtube Channel to attract the attention of millennial generation. The research method used is a virtual ethnographic study, with a qualitative descriptive approach and using symbolic interaction theory. The results of the study show that the representation of Muslim clothing displayed in the communication video of Pemuda Hijrah propaganda on the Shift Media Youtube Channel aims to mingle with young congregations. By determining the segmentation of the audience, the creators of Channel Youtube Shift Media are trying to Shift Muslim clothing into casual clothing that is more suited to millennials when they come to da’wah activities. The process of constructing the denotative meaning of Muslim clothing was marked by Ustaz Hanan Attaki, who often appeared wearing a shirt, t-shirt or sweater and a reggae-style head covering.

The existence of CMC (Computer-Mediated Communication) has influenced the pattern of human communication, which was initially face-to-face, to become more accessible by using electronic devices. So that the communication process can be carried out more flexibly even though they are separated by distance. However, communication through electronic devices has limitations in conveying messages and providing the opportunity for the recipient to understand the message because CMC (Computer-Mediated Communication) does not include nonverbal communication such as expressions and feelings. Therefore, communication through electronic devices depends on the use of language only. However, people tend to make language errors in digital communication such as omission or punctuation errors, spelling errors and inappropriate PUEBI, abbreviated words, and complex words to understand. These two conditions certainly impact the digital communication process because people are at risk of experiencing misunderstandings with different perceptions between the two. This research aims to determine the urgency and role of emoji and PUEBI-compliant spelling in digital communication among Airlangga University students. This research method is descriptive qualitative by applying the purposive sampling technique. The respondent's criteria are undergraduate students from Universitas Airlangga who have experience in digital communication. Data were collected through surveys and literature studies to obtain detailed information on the research topic. The results show that using emoji and good spelling is critical in digital communication because of limitations in delivering nonverbal communication and semantic errors that affect misunderstandings between communicators and communicators. Emojis and spellings that match The General Guideline for Indonesian Spelling (Pedoman Umum Ejaan Bahasa Indonesia [PUEBI]) can clarify messages so that the intent can be adequately conveyed, change the tone or intonation of speech, channel and represent the sender's expression, and give an impression to the sender of the message.

This chapter is a joint discussion of key items related to scoring issues related to signed and spoken language assessment that were discussed in Chapters 9.1 and 9.2. One aspect of signed language assessment that has the potential to stimulate new research in spoken second language (L2) assessment is the scoring of nonverbal speaker behaviors. This aspect is rarely represented in the scoring criteria of spoken assessments and in many cases not even available to raters during the scoring process. The authors argue, therefore, for a broadening of the construct of spoken language assessment to also include elements of nonverbal communication in the scoring descriptors. Additionally, the importance of rater training for signed language assessments, application of Rasch analysis to investigate possible reasons of disagreement between raters, and the need to conduct research on rasting scales are discussed.

The objective of this research is to explore the nature and role of analogies as objects for knowledge transfer in cross-industry collaborations. A case study of an organization seeking cross-industry innovation (CII) across two industry sectors was conducted, and the empirical data were analyzed qualitatively. We found that analogies used as knowledge mediation objects could be classified as explanatory or inventive, each expressed as linguistic or visual representations. Explanatory analogical objects help build prior knowledge of a foreign industry domain, thus easing later use of inventive analogical objects to identify how knowledge from one industry can be applied in another industry for innovation purposes. In these roles, the analogies serve as boundary objects. Both explanatory and inventive analogies can also serve as epistemic objects, motivating for further collaborative engagement. Visual representations of analogies help bridge the abstract with the concrete, thereby easing the process of creating analogies. They also enable nonverbal communication, thus helping bypass language barriers between knowledge domains. The reported research expands current research literature on knowledge mediation objects to the context of CII and provides added detailed understanding of the use of analogies in CII.
