Background: Hyper-bilirubinemia causes yellowish discoloration of the sclera and skin in newborns and is one of the most common disorders that neonatologists face daily. In the first week of life, 60 percent of term and 80 percent of preterm babies have jaundice. In neonates with unconjugated hyper-bilirubinemia, phototherapy is the most common treatment. Objective: To compare the occurrence of hypocalcemia in full-term icteric neonates with and without head covering during phototherapy. Materials and Methodology: Two hundred and eight full-term neonates were split into two groups for photo-therapy for hyper-bilirubinemia. The heads of the participants in the study group were covered with a hat. Before beginning photo-therapy, serum bilirubin and serum calcium levels were assessed, as well as after 48 hours of photo-therapy. SPSS software was used to tabulate and analyze the data. Results: Ninety-four (45%) of the 208 neonates in the sample were males, while 114 (55%) were females. The average age was 5.56 +2.78 days, and the average weight was 3.04 +0.58 kilograms. Out of 208 neonates, 44 (21%) had hypocalcemia. Hypocalcemia occurred in 28 neonates in the control group and 16 neonates in the study group. There was no symptomatic hypocalcemia in any of the newborns. The p-value for the Chi square test was 0.2. Since this value is greater than 0.05, it is not statistically important. Conclusion: In comparison to neonates whose heads were not covered, fewer neonates with covered heads experienced hypocalcemia in our research. However, these findings were not statistically important. However, Research in other countries found that neonatal head cover at phototherapy had a substantial impact. As a result, we propose that a major multicenter study be performed in our country to determine the exact significance.

Abstract Background Phototherapy is the main method used in treatment of significant indirect hyperbilirubinemia and it reduces the risk of exchange transfusion. Hypocalcemia is one of the side effects of phototherapy due to inhibition of pineal gland via transcranial illumination, resulting in decline of melatonin secretion that further inhibits the effect of cortisol on bone calcium and ultimately increase the bone uptake. Aim To assess the effect of head covering to ameliorate hypocalcemic effect of different types of phototherapy in full term jaundiced neonates. Patients and Methods A prospective randomized controlled study that included 120 jaundiced neonates requiring phototherapy which divided into two main groups; group I (treated with lamp phototherapy) which was equally subdivided into two groups, group A (without head cover) and group B (with head cover) and group Il (treated with LED phototherapy) which was equally subdivided into group C (without head cover) and group D (with head cover). Results Head cover reduced the incidence of phototherapy induced hypocalcemia without affecting rate of decline of bilirubin on both types of phototherapy used. In lamp hypocalcemia (<8mg/dl) was detected in 33.3% in jaundiced neonates without head cover which was significant higher than those with head cover 6.7%. As for LED, yet not statistically significant hypocalcemia was detected in 13.3% in jaundiced neonates without head cover, which was higher than those with head cover 3.3%. Conclusion Incidence of phototherapy induced hypocalcemia is reduced by using head cover especially while using lamp phototherapy.

The National Museum of Indonesia has a unique statue of a god depicted wearing a turban. The museum manager named this statue Shiva Mahadeva based on the third eye’s presence on his forehead. Based on this uniqueness, a more in-depth study carried out by taking the question What is the meaning of the turban-shaped head covering the statue’s depiction? Is there a connection between the depiction and the arts and culture of the community? This study aims to know the meaning implied in depicting the turban and trying to find out the social picture of the statuemaking community. This study conducted using descriptive research methods with contextual analysis. This study indicates that the statue depicted is not a statue of Shiva Mahadeva but a combination of Shiva and Vishnu known as Hariharamurti. The turban’s meaning is similar to the crown carved on the statue, which shows the character’s dignity and majesty. The life of the community’s arts and culture influences the depiction of the Hariharamurti statue, which is synonymous with freedom without leaving religious rules. In general, the arts and cultural aspects of the community that affect the statue are indicated as a community environment closely related to the priest/rishi’s activities.

The covid-19 global pandemic due to the SARS-CoV2 (CoV2) virus has created the need to adapt hospital workspaces and staffing models, and trauma is no exception. While the optimal configuration of a trauma resuscitation area is debatable, the space needs to be large enough to accommodate the trauma team and ancillary staff. It also needs to have ready access to supplies and equipment to quickly and easily control hemorrhage, secure an airway and initiate fluid resuscitation. Lastly, stores of personal protective equipment in the form of fluid resistant gowns, head covering, face shield, and gloves (both sterile and non-sterile) should be readily available but under strict access. As CoV2 carriers increased in our population in New Jersey, we treated each incoming trauma patient as a potentially CoV2-positive case and sought to reconfigure out trauma resuscitation area to minimize exposure of our supplies to aerosolized virus.
