Introduction: Salminus is a genus of ichthyofauna currently constituted by five species of migratory neotropical fish, predators, which are important in commercial, ecological and sport fishing. Aims: The article reflects the conception of fishermen about the ecological interrelationships of ichthyofauna, the relationship with sport fishing, aspects of trophic interactions among fish, the use of habitats aimed at feeding or reproduction and relations with fishing activity. Methodology: Study carried out in the state of Mato Grosso, central region of Brazil. 122 fishing professionals and artisanal fishermen were interviewed. The testimonies were obtained through phonographic interviews, carried out during visits in temperate sport fishing from 2018 to 2020, verifying questions related to fishing and the study specimen S. brasiliensis. Results: Among the interviewees, 37 were sport fishermen (30.3%), 22 artisanal fishermen (18.1%) and 63 guide fishermen (51.6%). The interviewees reported several situations and approaches on the problems generated by sport fishing in the State. The results were consistent with the scientific literature and revealed detailed knowledge about the survival strategies of S. brasiliensis. The answers revealed the fishermen's observations on the decrease in fishing resources, the scarcity of species and the conflicts related to sport fishing, making it necessary to look for the best ways of recovering and conserving native species and monitoring in the surveyed places. Conclusion: S. brasiliensis is an example of the ichthyofauna that is much sought after by sport fishing. The interviewees demonstrated important perceptions of the changes that are occurring in the rivers of Mato Grosso and it was found that it is necessary to intensify studies looking for ways to recover and conserve the native ichthyofauna in the region. The results obtained aim to promote social contributions and partnerships with professional and artisanal fishermen, encouraged to achieve a better harmony between fishing and nature, creating actions that can be extended to indigenous, quilombola and riverside peoples.

The state of Maranhão has a vast coastline that promotes the development of coastal recreational fishery, an activity that has attracted more and more fans in recent years. In this context, the objective of this work was to demonstrate the importance of sport fishing as an auxiliary source in monitoring the diversity of fish on the beaches of the metropolitan region of São Luís, Maranhão, through the monitoring of sport fishing tournaments, held in December 2018 on the beach do Olho d‟água and in July 2019, at Araçagi beach. The captured fish were stored in isothermal boxes containing ice and transported to the laboratory for taxonomic identification. 252 specimens were captured, belonging to 19 species, and distributed in 10 families. The family Sciaenidae was the most representative with 3 species. The predominant species were Conodon nobilis and Genyatremus luteus from the Haemulidae family, which together represented 39% of the specimens captured on the Olho d‟água beach and 24% on the Araçagi beach. The individuals of C. nobilis had an average weight of 29.4 ± 12.7 g and an average length of 12.3 ± 2.0 cm, with a curve of weight x length ratio represented by the equation PT = 0.034 CT2.6637 and R2 = 0, 67, with b = 2.67. While in G. luteus, the individuals had an average weight of 96.5 ± 82.2 g and an average length of 15.8 ± 4.4 cm, with a curve of the weight x length ratio represented by the equation: PT = 0.0145CT3.0999 and R2 = 0.81, with b = 3.09. The diversity of fish in beach fisheries can contribute to studies of fishery biology to support the development of management strategies and conservation of fish stocks.

The length–weight relationship parameters are reported for the fifty littoral and coastal marine fish species from the Eastern Adriatic. Captures were made between the years 2004 and 2017 during sport fishing competitions. The parameters a and b of the equation W = aLb were estimated. The b values ranged from 2.1972 for Spicara smaris (Linnaeus, 1758) to 3.7044 for Salaria pavo (Risso, 1810). The L-W relation for Scyliorhinus stellaris (Linnaeus, 1758), Gobius bucchichi Steindachner 1870, Gobius geniporus Valenciennes 1837 and Lipophrys trigloides (Valenciennes, 1836) are not available in FishBase and presents new data for these species. For some other species, such as Labrus mixtus Linnaeus 1758, there are only two relationships, but none from the Mediterranean, for Gobius paganellus Linnaeus 1758 only four relationships and none from Central and Eastern Mediterranean, while for Labrus merula Linnaeus 1758, Symphodus mediterraneus (Linnaeus, 1758), Symphodus roissali (Risso, 1810), Gobius cobitis Pallas 1814, Gobius cruentatus Gmelin 1789, Gobius niger Linnaeus 1758, Parablennius gatorugine (Linnaeus, 1758), Parablennius sanguinolentus (Pallas, 1814), Salaria pavo (Risso, 1810), and Bothus podas (Delaroche, 1809) very low number of relationships are presented and none from the Adriatic Sea.

Sportfishing is an activity of increasing popularity that involves a large number of users and high levels of fishing effort. In Yucatan, most of the target species in sport fishing are the same as those of commercial fisheries. However, there is no record of fishing effort or catch volumes. Thus the impact of sport fishing on these populations is unknown. This study analyzes the catches made by users of sport fisheries of nine species (Epinephelus morio, Haemulon plumieri, Seriola dumerili, Lutjanus synagris, Ocyurus chrysurus, Calamus bajonado, Sphyraena barracuda, S. guachancho and Mycteroperca bonaci) through length-based indicators. Samples of species’ sizes were obtained from the catches made during 10 fishing tournaments held in Yucatan's three-port towns (Sisal, Yucalpeten, and Telchac) between 2015 and 2016. The catch variables that were evaluated included: the number of mature individuals Pmat, optimal length Popt, and the number of mega-spawners Pmega. Length measures were derived from 1,252 individuals. Only H. plumieri, L. synagris, and S. guachancho exhibited sustainable indicator values, while E. morio and C. bajonado demonstrated extremely low values. In most species, sport fishing affects a high proportion of juveniles. The results suggest that sportfishing contributes to the fishing pressure of a species and commercial fishing, due to the capture of juveniles of economically important fish. It is essential to establish a systematic monitoring method of such activities and increase the priority level of the evaluation and management of this fishery.

The peacock bass species Cichla spp. are economically important in the Amazon region, being used in food, sport fishing and the ornamental fish market. The aims of present study was investigate the ecophysiological interactions and the relationship to the physical parameters of the water. In order to compare and ecologically correlate the species of peacock bass (Cichla monoculus, Cichla temensis and Cichla vazzoleri) in Lake Balbina, Presidente Figueiredo. The total of 45 animals, 15 individuals of each species, was captured with rod and reel, hand line with natural and artificial bait. The animals blood was removed by means of caudal puncture and the hematological data were determined according to methodology previously described in the literature. The analysis of water physical properties was determined during the collections. The Principal Component Analysis (PCA) was used for observations of interactions (60.00%). The PCA of the erythrogram showed an interaction of 86.26%, the thrombogram and leukogram of the peacock bass species showed no interaction. The PCA of the plasma metabolites showed no interaction with a rate of 51.55%, however, there is a tendency in the x axis, where the species C. monoculos presents distinct ecophysiological patterns of C. temensis and C. vazzoleri. In the analysis of the physical properties of the water, was observed interaction 96.59%, where in the X axis the species C. monoculos and C. vazzoleri inhabit exclusive localities. It is possible to infer that C. monoculos presents a different pattern compared to other species.
