Three seamoth specimens (45.5–56.9 mm standard length; SL) (Syngnathiformes: Pegasidae), originally identified as Pegasus laternarius Cuvier, 1829, but now recognized as representing P. nanhaiensis Zhang, Wang et Lin, 2020, a species recently described from the northern South China Sea off Yangjiang and Beihai, China, were obtained at a local fish market in Maha Chai, Samut Sakhon Province, Thailand on 6 July 2012, having been caught in the northern Gulf of Thailand. In addition, single specimens, reported as P. laternarius or Spinipegasus laternarius from Bidong Island, South China Sea off the Malay Peninsula (46.1 mm SL) and from Ko Kradat, Trat Province, eastern Gulf of Thailand (66.1 mm SL), were re-identified here as P. nanhaiensis. Thai specimens and Malaysian record represent the first records of P. nanhaiensis from Thailand and Malaysia, respectively, and from outside Chinese coastal waters. Additionally, the Bidong specimen is the southernmost record for the species. The fresh coloration of P. nanhaiensis is described for the first time.

The first mentions of the nuns of St. Clare in Kotor date from the fourth decade of the 14th century. Their position in that commune improved in the second half of that century. In December 1364, at the request of the Kotor authorities, Pope Urban V asked the Bishop of Kotor, Dujmo II, to restore the former Benedictine monastery due to the needs of the nuns St. Clare. In the presence of the highest authorities of Kotor, on October 10th, 1365, a document on this legal action was issued. It is preserved in a transcript in the manuscript collection II b 21, held in the manuscript department of the Archives of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts in Zagreb. The document contained the act of assigning the monastery to the Clarisses, prescribing the income which was given on that occasion to the monastery of St. Clare, as well as the appointment of Clare of Foro Julius as its first nun. Part of the transferred revenues consisted of communal revenues from fish market customs duties. The second part of the donation consisted of revenues in the amount of two hundred perpers, half of which came from the butcher's slaughterhouse, and the other half from customs revenue on wine. Customs officers or gabellers, ie persons who leased the mentioned revenues, were obliged to take care of the collection of those revenues. Revenues that the monastery of St. Clare received in October 1365 and are mentioned during the 15th century. Dukal of October 15th, 1447, says that the Venetian authorities after Kotor accepted their rule, recognized the right of the nuns of St. Clare on the said revenues. However, Kotor municipal authorities have occasionally challenged the right to collect assigned revenues, as well as the right to elect procurators themselves. That is why the nuns complained to the Venetian authorities, who ordered the Kotor authorities to allow them to enjoy the allocated income and the right to elect procurators themselves. The problem of paying the income from the fish market to the Clarisses was also present at the end of the 15th century, and Venetian authorities had to intervene.

Stingrays are one of the marine fishes that inhabit the shallow part of the ocean. They are well known to the locals as cuisine and its parts as accessories for items such as handbags, belts, and decorations. Stingrays of species Himantura undulata and Maculabatis gerrardi are commonly caught by fishermen of Sarawak, but most of its nutritional and antinutritional factors both species are unknown. This study focused on the analysis of some proximate composition such as moisture, ash, and lipid content. Analysis of total organic matter was done as well. The stingrays were obtained from local fish market in Kuching, Sarawak. The method used for moisture (wet basis), ash, and total organic matter is of AOAC (method 930.15), while crude lipid content was based on the Chedoloh method of extraction. The study revealed that H. undulata and M. gerrardi are nutritious in terms of moisture, ash, and lipid content to be 78.44 and 80.74% (dry basis), 0.48 and 1.37%, 2.46 and 7.74% respectively.

ABSTRAKBerawal dari munculnya kasus pneumonia di Wuhan, China yang belum diketahui penyebabnya. Kasus ini terjadi pada akhir tahun 2019, tepatnya pada bulan Desember. Menurut hasil epidemiologi, kasus pneumonia yang terjadi terkait dengan pasar ikan di wilayah Wuhan. WHO menetapkan penyakit ini diberi nama Coronavirus disease 2019 atau bisa juga disebut COVID-19. Tujuan setelah penyuluhan kesehatan adalah untuk menambah pengetahuan terkait vaksinasi COVID-19 dan partisipan penyuluhan dapat mengikuti program vaksinasi yang diselenggarakan oleh pemerintah. Ada juga kegiatan yang dicoba berupa penyuluhan kesehatan dengan menggunakan flip chart dan leaflet. Terjadi peningkatan pengetahuan hingga 80% terkait vaksinasi COVID-19 pada partisipan penyuluhan di panti asuhan Raudatul Aitam.Kata kunci: Pengetahuan; Vaksinasi; COVID-19; Panti Asuhan Anak ABSTRACTStarting from the emergence of cases of pneumonia in Wuhan, China whose cause is not yet known. This case occurred at the end of 2019, precisely in December. According to epidemiological results, the pneumonia cases that occurred were related to a fish market in the Wuhan area. WHO has determined this disease to be named Coronavirus disease 2019 or it can also be called COVID-19. The goal after health education is to increase knowledge regarding COVID-19 vaccination and counseling participants can take part in vaccination programs organized by the government. There are also activities that are tried in the form of health education using flip charts and leaflets. Abstract Modern Fish Market of Muara Baru is one of the largest fish markets in Jakarta, which sells various seafood, including fish, shellfish, crustaceans, and others. Previous studies have revealed microdebris contamination of mollusks, particularly in filter-feeders. However, it has not been widely studied at the predator level in cephalopods. We aim to investigate contamination of microdebris in two commercial species of cephalopod, i.e. Loliolus sumatrensis and Sepia recurvirostra, from the market. The digestive tract of the cephalopod was taken and dissolved by adding H2O2 50% then filtered under a vacuum system. The particles of microdebris were observed with a stereo microscope then several particles were analyzed using an FTIR microscope. The abundance of microdebris in L. sumatrensis was higher (3.8 particles/individual) than the abundance that of microdebris in S. recurvirostra (2.8 particles/individual). The size of microdebris was dominated by three of five size classes such as 0.1 − 0.5 mm, 0.5 − 1 mm, and 1 − 5 mm. Microdebris in L. sumatrensis was confirmed as polypropylene (PP), a synthetic polymer (microplastic), while in S. recurvirostra was confirmed as rayon (semi-synthetic). This research shows that microdebris contamination has reached the level of a predator in Mollusca.

The fisheries sector is one of the agricultural sub-sectors that has a role in providing food for the people of Indonesia. Consumers have behavior in purchasing fish in meeting their needs or desires to obtain a product. This study aims to analyze consumer preferences for the type of fish and the order of attributes. The method used in this research is a case study. The research location was carried out at the Muara Baru Modern Fish Market (PIM) DKI Jakarta. The data used are primary data and secondary data. The primary data collection technique used accidental sampling with a sample of 100 respondents while the secondary data were obtained from Perum Perikanan Indonesia as the manager of the Muara Baru Modern Fish Market, the Library, the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) DKI Jakarta, the National Statistics Agency (BPS). Consumer preference analysis used attitude measurement analysis measured by Chi-square and based on rank orders analysis to determine the order of attribute importance. Based on the study results, it was shown that all the attributes observed in this study were significantly different at the 95% confidence level. In contrast, the analysis of the level of importance of the attributes showed that the priority of consumers' interests in fish in the Muara Baru Modern Fish Market (PIM) was price, freshness, cleanliness, texture, and fish scent.

The study was conducted on species availability and infrastructure analysis of four different wholesale fish markets in Dhaka City. Two markets were selected from Dhaka South City Corporation, Showari Ghat and Jatrabari fish market, and two from Dhaka North City Corporation, Karwan Bazar and Abdullahpur fish market. The investigation was carried out from November 2018 to October 2019. Questionnaire based survey, FGDs (Focus Group Discussion) and KIIs (Key Informant Interviews) were conducted to get quantitative and qualitative data for present study. A total number of 62 fishes and 6 crustacean species were recorded during the study period. Among all species, 39 freshwater, 10 marine and 13 exotic fishes were recorded. Infrastructure facilities were very poor for all four markets in the matter of hygiene and quality control. Fish shades were not enough, improper sanitation and drainage system indicates the possibilities of disease transmission and deteriorate fish quality. Electricity and water supplies were good but no system was present to determine the distillation of those supplied water. Thus, infrastructural condition of the markets does not support a hygienic condition for fish marketing to provide quality fish and fish byproducts. The study highlighted the need for national initiatives, awareness building, and law implementation for improving the wholesale markets infrastructure to a minimum standard so that fish trade could provide good quality to the people of Dhaka City Bangladesh J. The research work was conducted for isolation and identification of potential pathogenic bacteria from blow fly (Calliphora spp.) and to investigate their antibiotic susceptibility. For this purpose, 20 blow flies were collected from 4 selected areas (Curzon Hall, Dhaka Medical College Hospital, Fruit Store and Fish Market) of Dhaka city. A total of 40 samples (20 from external surface and 20 from alimentary gut homogenates) were prepared from the blow flies. Among the total 20 flies, 3(15%) were collected from Curzon Hall and 5(12.5%) isolates were obtained from them; 6(30%) flies were collected from DMCH which had 11(27.5%) isolates; 5(25%) flies were collected from fruit stores and 10(25%) isolates were collected from there; 6(30%) flies were collected from fish market and 14(35%) isolates were collected from there. The isolated bacteria were presumptively identified as Escherichia coli, 12 (30%); Salmonella spp., 8 (20%); Shigella spp., 4(10%); Enterobacter spp., 3 (7.5%); Klebsiella spp., 2 (5%); Bacillus spp., 7 (17.5%) and Staphylococcus spp., 4 (10%) in number which were based on morphology as observed under microscope as well as cultural and biochemical properties. All of these isolates were resistant to various antibiotics. Bacterial susceptibility showed that E. coli isolates were highly resistant (66.6%) to Penicillin, Salmonella spp. mostly resistant (62.5%) to Penicillin and Tetracycline. Klebsiella spp. Isolates were 100% resistant to Penicillin and 100% sensitive to Ciprofloxacin, Imipenem and Tetracycline. In case of Shigella spp. and Enterobacter spp., 75% and 100% isolates were resistant to Penicillin respectively. Among the Staphylococcus spp. isolates, 75% were resistant to Ampicillin and Penicillin. In case of Bacillus spp. isolates, 57.2% were resistant to Penicillin and 100% sensitive to Imipenem. Antibiotic resistance of these species affect our human health also. This study demonstrated the potential of blow flies as a vector of various pathogenic microorganisms and a mode of transmission of antibiotic resistance. Bangladesh J. Zool. 49 (2): 205-214, 2021

Aim: The aim of the present paper was to describe first and comprehensive picture on length-weight relationship and population dynamics of riverine Puntius sophore. The findings of the investigation will be an imperative part of the ecological database from river Sutlej. Methodology: The length-frequency data of 579 specimens of P. sophore captured from different stretches of river Sutlej were collected fortnightly from Tajpur fish market and Haibowal fish market (Devnagar) during April 2019 to March 2020. All the population parameters were analyzed using FiSAT II analytical package developed by FAO. Results: The estimated length-weight relationships (LWRs) of combined male and female was derived as W=0.1471 L3.0605 (r=0.98). The growth parameters were L∞=123.5 mm, K=1.18 yr-1, to= -0.7672 yr-1, Rn=0.215 and ø'=4.241. The estimated natural mortality coefficient (1.25 per yr) was greater than fishing mortality (1.03 yr-1).The present level of exploitation (E=0.45, U=0.40) of P. sophore stock indicated that stocks were under-exploited. Prediction of maximum length from extreme values at 95% confidence interval was calculated as 112.48-138.24 mm. The recruitment pattern of P. sophore showed peaks during May and June. Interpretation: The P. sophore stock was under-exploited. The fishing intensity may be standardized to obtain optimum yield per recruit and thereby ideal maximum sustainable yield. This baseline information will help in further studies on the stock assessment and formulating strategies for rational exploitation of the species.

Seafood, especially in traditional food Taiwan, is rarely sourced from a fixed species and routinely from similar species depending on their availability. Hence, the species composition of seafood can be complicated. While a DNA-based approach has been routinely utilized for species identification, a large scale of seafood identification in fish markets and restaurants could be challenging (e.g., elevated cost and time-consuming only for a limited number of species identification). In the present study, we aimed to identify the majority of fish species potentially consumed in fish markets and nearby seafood restaurants using environmental DNA (eDNA) metabarcoding. Four eDNA samplings from a local fish market and nearby seafood restaurants were conducted using Sterivex cartridges. Nineteen universal primers previously validated for fish species identification were utilized to amplify the fragments of mitochondrial DNA (12S, COI, ND5) of species in eDNA samples and sequenced with NovaSeq 6000 sequencing. A total of 153 fish species have been identified based on 417 fish related operational taxonomic units (OTUs) generated from 50,534,995 reads. Principal Coordinate Analysis (PCoA) further showed the differences in fish species between the sampling times and sampling sites. Of these fish species, 22 chondrichthyan fish, 14 Anguilliformes species, and 15 Serranidae species were respectively associated with smoked sharks, braised moray eels, and grouper fish soups. To our best knowledge, this work represents the first study to demonstrate the feasibility of a large scale of seafood identification using eDNA metabarcoding approach. Our findings also imply the species diversity in traditional seafood might be seriously underestimated and crucial for the conservation and management of marine resources.
