AbstractTuning the structural architecture of the pristine two dimensional hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) nanosheets through rational surface engineering have proven advantageous in the fabrication of competent catalytic materials. Inspired by the performance of h-BN based nanomaterials in expediting key organic transformations, we channelized our research efforts towards engineering the inherent surface properties of the exclusively stacked h-BN nanosheets through the incorporation of a novel competent copper complex of a bidentate chelating ligand 2-hydroxy-4-methoxybenzophenone (BP). Delightfully, this hybrid nanomaterial worked exceptionally well in boosting the [3 + 2] cycloaddition reaction of azide and nitriles, providing a facile access to a diverse variety of highly bioactive tetrazole motifs. A deep insight into the morphology of the covalently crafted h-BN signified the structural integrity of the exfoliated h-BN@OH nanosheets that exhibited lamellar like structures possessing smooth edges and flat surface. This interesting morphology could also be envisioned to augment the catalysis by allowing the desired surface area for the reactants and thus tailoring their activity. The work paves the way towards rational design of h-BN based nanomaterials and adjusting their catalytic potential by the use of suitable complexes for promoting sustainable catalysis, especially in view of the fact that till date only a very few h-BN nanosheets based catalysts have been devised.

A versatile, functional nanomaterial for the removal of ionic and non-ionic pollutants is presented in this work. For that purpose, the high charge mica Na-4-Mica was exchanged with the cationic surfactant (C16H33NH(CH3)2)+. The intercalation of the tertiary amine in the swellable nano-clay provides the optimal hydrophilic/hydrophobic nature in the bidimensional galleries of the nanomaterial responsible for the dual functionality. The organo-mica, made by functionalization with C16H33NH3+, was also synthesized for comparison purposes. Both samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction techniques and transmission electron microscopy. Then, the samples were exposed to a saturated atmosphere of cyclohexylamine for two days, and the adsorption capacity was evaluated by thermogravimetric measurements. Eu3+ cations served as a proof of concept for the adsorption of ionic pollutants in an aqueous solution. Optical measurements were used to identify the adsorption mechanism of Eu3+ cations, since Eu3+ emissions, including the relative intensity of different f–f transitions and the luminescence lifetime, can be used as an ideal spectroscopic probe to characterize the local environment. Finally, the stability of the amphiphilic hybrid nanomaterial after the adsorption was also tested.

The ZIF-8@Agmim core-shell hybrid material was synthesized via a favorable post-modification method of ion exchange (PMIE). This infrequent ZIF-8@Agmim core-shell structure maintains a well- integrated pore size that is almost the same as ZIF-8. The similar equilibrium isotherms with ZIF-8 and better kinetic separation towards propylene/propane than ZIF-8 render ZIF-8@Agmim to be an interesting candidate for propylene/propane separation. The core-shell hybrid nanomaterial was further used as nanofillers in the polymer of intrinsic microporosity matrix (PIM-1) for propylene/propane separation. The resultant MMMs exhibited a simultaneous increase in C3H6 permeability and C3H6/C3H8 ideal selectivity compared to pure polymer membrane owing to a synergistic effect of molecular sieving from ZIF-8 and π-complexation of Ag+ with propylene. The separation performance of the prepared MMM surpasses the upper bound line of polymer membranes. Furthermore, the hybrid materials possess superb photochemical stability and the corresponding MMMs exhibit excellent anti-aging property and long-term stability.

AbstractThe nano heat transport has gained much significance in recent era. The micro-level devices are enganged succssfully in diverse fields like electronics, biomedical, navel structures, manufacturing, transportation, and automotive industries in order to improve the heat transfer for cooling and heating. Owing to this fact, the current article illustrates the features of irreversibility and thermal jump in peristaltic transport of hybrid nanoliquid. Here, water is used as base liquid while nanoparticles include polystyrene and graphene oxide. The flow is carried out in a non-uniform channel where the walls of channel flexible nature. Additionally, magnetic field impacts on flow and Joule heating analysis are examined. The aspect featuring heat absorption is introduced. Nanoparticle's shapes effect is also incorporated in flow analysis. Under the consideration of small Rynold number and long wavelength, the relevent equations are reduced by implementing non-dimensional variables. Involved pertinent parameters influence the peristaltic flow characteristics are displayed graphically and discussed concisely. The result indicates that temperature curves are dominant for pure water as compared to P/water nanofluid and P-GO/water hybrid nanofluid. Moreover, the convergent channel shows least entropy effects and extreme effects are noted for divergent case whereas uniform channel stays behind the divergent one.
