This study examined the effectiveness of the negative distortion measures from the Personality Assessment Inventory (PAI) and Inventory of Problems-29 (IOP-29), by investigating data from a community and a forensic sample, across three different symptom presentations (i.e., feigned depression, posttraumatic stress disorder [PTSD], and schizophrenia). The final sample consisted of 513 community-based individuals and 288 inmates (total N = 801); all were administered the PAI and the IOP-29 in an honest or feigning conditions. Statistical analyses compared the average scores of each measure by symptom presentation and data source (i.e., community vs. forensic sample) and evaluated diagnostic efficiency statistics. Results suggest that the PAI Negative Impression Management scale and the IOP-29 are the most effective measures across all symptom presentations, whereas the PAI Malingering Index and Rogers Discriminant Function generated less optimal results, especially when considering feigned PTSD. Practical implications are discussed.

It is a crucial issue to retain highly qualified educators to provide high quality education in private schools. High turnover of educators in private schools has a negative impression on the pupil satisfaction and on their educational progress as well. Retention of educators refers to retaining qualified and efficient teachers in schools for a long time. As recruitment is a complex process for the selection of qualified and competent teachers so, retention of teachers is most crucial and extensive issue for private schools in of Pakistan. The present research study was conducted to explore the impacts of school’s administrations on educators’ retention at the private schools in Pakistan. The descriptive statistics and t-test statistical tools were applied to assess collected data with respect to school’s administrations, their behavior and facilities. The findings of the study based on the Likert Scale indicated that most of teachers were not satisfied with their school’s administration, their behaviors and facilitation. T-test analysis indicated that no significance difference was found between the retention intentions of male and female teachers.

Orientalism as a literary phenomenon has been recently focused on by different writers all over the world. Many of those who write about Orientalism have not the same understanding, and the divergences are reproduced due to different attitudes toward Orientalism. From various studies concerning Orientalism, there are apparent tributaries confronting the understanding of the concept of Orientalism from different perspectives. Edward Said is one of those who, according to what many Western and Eastern writers say, represent the negative attitude towards Orientalism, and tries only to make it appear ugly and offensive. Many writers, Arabs and non-Arabs, take, more or less, the same approach Said used towards the subject of Orientalism. Others have, to some extent, tried to give excuses for the writers, especially the Romantics, for the negative impression their writings reflected on the readers when going through what is supposed to be Oriental works. Nigel Leask, Sari Makdisi, Emily Haddad, Martin Bright, Tripta Wahi and Naji Oueijan are the significant writers of this group. British orientalists did not use the right approach to look or write about the East. What irritates Said is that these orientalists did not pay attention to find any possibility by which they could bridge the gap between the European and Asiatic parts of the world. This paper tries to trace and to define Lord Byron’s type of Orientalism in some of his oriental works and his chief work Don Juan.

Abstract Objective To evaluate the classification statistics of the Clinical Assessment of Attention Deficit – Adult (CAT-A) Negative Impression (NI) scale, relative to the MMPI-2-RF in an active duty military sample. We hypothesized that MMPI-2-RF RBS would have the largest AUC. Method Retrospective review of 108 active duty service members consecutively referred to neuropsychology for clinical ADHD evaluations in a Midwest Army Health Center. Cases with missing data (10) and failures of MMPI-2-RF response consistency scales (3) were removed from analysis, resulting in final sample of 95. Average age was 32.62 (SD = 8.87) and average education was 14.66 (SD = 2.66). MMPI-2-RF symptom validity scales (F-r, Fp-r, Fs, FBS-r, and RBS) were employed as criterion measures at all standard cut-offs to evaluate the CAT-A NI scale. Results ROC analyses for the MMPI-2-RF over-reporting symptom validity scales ranged from 0.599 to 0.808, with the MMPI-2-RF RBS scale >79 demonstrating the lowest AUC (0.599; p 52. With specificity held at or above 0.90, sensitivities ranged from 22.86 to 60.00, with positive and negative predictive values ranging from 11.1 to 58.8 and 66.7 to 98.8, respectively. Conclusions The CAT-A NI scale demonstrated reasonable AUC values for nearly all MMPI-2-RF over-reporting scales. Psychologically-based over-reporting scales were superior to cognitively-based over-reporting scales in terms of classification statistics. The optimal cut in the current data (>52) is slightly higher (though roughly commensurate) to the cut score for atypical responses in the CAT-A manual (>45).

The digital manufacture of complete dentures would greatly simplify the workflow; however, the metal-reinforced complete dentures production method has not been well established. This article describes a technique of fabricating metal-reinforced complete dentures in a milling machine using the geometry guide, a negative impression of the occlusal surface of the metal-reinforced complete denture designed using the computer-aided design software. The geometry guide supports and stabilizes the artificial teeth and metal framework in the correct position in the surrounding resin. Fabrication of metal-reinforced dental prosthesis using the digital technique is possible with this method.

Blockchain is a game-changing technology that has the ability to solve plenty of real-world issues in the digital age. Blockchain is a subject of huge interest in many industries and academia in terms of discovering technology and classifying challenges and innovative practical application for the industry. This study addresses the challenges that are of main concern in designing a Blockchain platform. In this regard, the problems such as privacy, regulation, security, lack of adequate skill sets, energy consumption, inefficient technology design, the criminal connection, scalability, energy consumption, and public view are discovered to be important. Due to such challenges, the blockchain technologies have emitted a negative impression due to its incapability to be successfully applied while, at the same time, its benefits could not be fully gained by its investors. The objective of this study, hence, is to assess the blockchain advantages and growth in light of the eight foundations for economic development as advocated by Ibn Khaldun. Expending Ibn Khaldun’s philosophy, each challenge is deliberated and investigated to find the answers and solutions for addressing and overcoming the afore-mentioned challenges.

In Viet Nam and many other nations, people tend to make general assumptions about language learning like that “Females are better at language learning than males”, “Languages are females’ subjects”. Those assumptions have caused a negative impression on males about language learning. As a result, there is a remarkable worldwide inequality in the number of male and female English majors. Are females really superior to males in language learning? Do their different ways in language learning play an important role in their success? If the differences in learning methods are said to be responsible, their learning strategies may account for their different level of success in language learning. Those questions inspired the author to determine whether there are any significant differences in learning strategies due to gender. The paper first synthesized previous research to have an overview of learning strategies males tend to prefer and those that females favour. Then, from the awareness of the differences, some pedagogic implications were raised for English teachers who share the same interest in dealing well with learners of each sex.

The physical description of the Guanajuato of Alamán’s youth continues in this chapter. His early childhood education is discussed, and an early residence with his widowed mother in Mexico City. Scarcely had he returned to his native city when the independence movement broke out in September 1810. His relationship with the local power structure in Guanajuato is described, and his early acquaintance with Father Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla. The fall of Guanajuato to Hidalgo’s insurgents in late September 1810, Alamán’s own account of his brush with death at the hands of the insurgents, and the question of whether he was traumatized by this experience are narrated. His very negative impression of the Mexico City elections under the briefly revived Spanish Constitution of 1812 closes the chapter.
