The role of culture in teaching target language is undeniable. This article belongs to a literature review. As such, it deals with the reviews of culture integration in English Language Teaching. The article provides the conflicting findings of teaching target language with local culture or target culture along with the reasonable reasons for each. The writers adopt the systematic way of doing literature review consisting of four steps namely designing the review, conducting the review, analyzing, and writing the review. Drawing from the review of the progress reports in the field, the writer recommends an intermediary for prospective English Language Teaching accommodating both local and target culture in question. Recommendations for future research studies are highlighted at the end.

Other than providing overnight stays and local activities, the provision of food and beverage is an important aspect in the homestay business. The food and beverage aspect of a homestay has the potential of being a crucial contributing factor towards a guest’s experience whilst ensuring optimal monetary return to the homestay operators. This paper presents the findings on meal offerings provided by four homestay operators at Mantanani Island, an island off the Kota Belud coast of Sabah. This study also highlights the importance of food as an element of local culture and as an expression of the history, habits and traditions of a community. Discussions are pinned on rationalising the differences in meal offerings among operators and how this would implicate the operators’ profit margins, as well as how the local culture reflects the menu offered by the homestay participants.  Finally, recommendations for improvement on meal plans are proposed to enhance the economic benefits of these operators without compromising guest experience

PurposeThe objective of this paper is to present a comprehensive review of the literature on learning analytics (LA) stakeholders' expectations to reveal the status of ongoing research in this area and to highlight gaps in research.Design/methodology/approachConducting a literature review is a well-known method to establish knowledge and interpret the domain under examination (Snyder, 2019). In this paper, a descriptive approach was used to investigate the different research methods used to tackle LA stakeholders' expectations, which depends on summarising the studies' content and minimising the reviewer's interpretation.FindingsMost of the studies have used interviews and focus groups without testing isolated variables. Moreover, it was concluded that LA awareness and perception are affected by a lack of resources, technical skills, trustworthiness, data availability, accessibility, organisational culture, integration and lack of technology. 10;This paper sheds light on research on LA stakeholders' expectations and highlights the need for investigating developing countries' context in order to test the perception and impact of LA. The study has focussed mainly on papers published in journals, which may have led to missing some previous research papers.Originality/valueLiterature review studies provide an overview of the existing LA literature from general focus to analytical methods. As it is a broad topic, this paper focuses on reviewing studies about stakeholders, which will give a fuller understanding of how their expectations are being discussed beyond the currently assumed benefits of LA.

College should serve local economy closer, enterprise structure upgrading also improves requirements for personnel, so a collision and integration of college campus culture and corporate culture is accelerating. This paper starts from the relationship explication between the two cultures and the significance explication of their melange, in view of the problem of integration of this two culture, the paper propose five countermeasures: put the essence of enterprise culture into the "3-outlooks" and "3-styles" education, capture the key of two culture integration, establish the main line of integration, integrate college practice education resources, and promote  undergraduate  innovative and entrepreneurial ability.

This research discusses the adaptation of speech code among Madurese students in Yogyakarta. Speech code adaptation involves intercultural communication; perception, verbal communication, and non-verbal communication. A qualitative method is employed in this study, using ethnographic approach as well as participant observation and in-depth interview. Speech code adaptation  among Madurese students in Yogyakarta could be seen from their intonation, accent, expression, and gesture. Different background of these students has contributed to their different perception and the way they construct the foundation for the process of adaptation with native citizen in Yogyakarta. It is found in this study that students from Madura who live in Yogyakarta adapt their speech code in such manners as; assimilation, separation, integration, and cultural hybridity. Assimilation is used among them to equate the two cultures in a way to maintain their Madurese culture and their attachment to the new culture in Yogyakarta. Separation is the way used by Madurese students to subsist in their own culture, to minimize the interaction, and to their way to cluster themselves in their own culture. Integration is one option among them to keep their own culture in regards to speech code, while it enables them to interact with Yogyakarta people. Cultural hybridity is a way that Madurese students carry out negotiation and adaptation process to gain positive perception within the host culture of Yogyakarta.[Penelitian ini membahas adaptasi logat di kalangan mahasiswa Madura di Yogyakarta.

AbstractIndividuals living in dense populations control their behaviors by sensing, integrating and responding to many cues. How can these processes enable the evolution and stability of cooperative behaviors that could easily be exploited by cheaters? Here we shed light on how bacteria regulate cooperation by studying swarming in Pseudomonas aeruginosa, a behavior requiring cooperative secretions of rhamnolipid surfactants to facilitate collective movement over surfaces. By combining fluorescent imaging and computational analyses we show, counterintuitively, that rhamnolipid expression peaks at swarming edges. We then show that the integration of competing diffusive cues—quorum sensing signals and growth-limiting nutrients—enables P. aeruginosa to communicate across centimeters and adopt expression patterns unseen in well-mixed liquid culture. Integration of multiple cues enables robustness against cheating even when we experimentally perturb the quorum sensing system. Taken together, these results illuminate how the integration of cues in spatially structured communities can stabilize cooperation.
