This study aims to figure the implementation of anti-discrimination Christian Religious Education (CRE) at school and various things that can significantly shape students' anti-discrimination attitudes. By using descriptive qualitative methods, namely by adopting the research procedures of Miles and Habermas and support of other literature, the researchers found that CRE at schools has a strategic place in teaching anti-discrimination attitudes toward students. In this regard, the contextual and biblical CRE curriculum design and learning model presented in the class can lead students to have attitudes that do not discriminate against one another. Teaching anti-discrimination attitudes through CRE can be done simultaneously. CRE teachers lay the foundation or instill Christian values that differences are the reality and how students can accept and appreciate differences. Those are strengthened by the application of the CRE curriculum that contains the topic of anti-discrimination and synergized learning models in which students can interact, communicate and relate in different realities.

AbstractIntellectual Disabilities (ID) is a neurodevelopmental disorder with considerable individual variability in type and severity. Due to overt and covert prejudices around ID, however, society tends to generalize this condition. Also, in schools, teachers’ attitudes toward students with IDs often differ from those toward regular students. The purpose of this study is to examine the levels of overt and covert prejudices toward ID of curricular and support teachers and non-teachers, in a sample of Southern Italian citizens, by evaluating age, gender and socioeconomic differences, as well as the associations of prejudice with education about and contact with ID. Six hundred and sixty-four participants (484 F; 38% teachers), 18–70 years old (M = 38.72; SD = 14.79) participated in the study. The Modern and Classical Prejudices Scale was administered in paper and online forms. Sociodemographic measures, as well as measures around ID education and contact with people with ID were collected. The results show that teachers had higher levels of classical prejudices compared to non-teacher participants. Teachers of primary schools showed higher levels of classical and modern prejudices. No gender and socioeconomic status (SES) differences were found in the whole sample. The entry of children with Intellectual Disabilities into primary school can be strongly influenced by teachers’ prejudices. Therefore, the need for teachers’ information and training on Intellectual Disabilities is evident.

According to the literature, social participation (e.g., peer interactions) of students diagnosed with special educational needs (SEN) has to be focused upon as they are at a higher risk of being socially excluded compared to students without SEN. Research has pointed out that social participation of students with SEN is influenced by their own social behavior as well as the attitudes of peers with no SEN toward them. The present study assessed the impact of the social behavior of students diagnosed with SEN (n = 88; 48 boys and 40 girls) as well as that of the attitudes of their peers without SEN (n = 227; 139 boys and 153 girls) toward them on the social participation. Results indicated that students without SEN were less likely to interact with their classmates with SEN. Peer interactions of students with SEN were not significantly influenced by their own social behavior.

Empirical evidence suggests that college attendance by students with intellectual disability (ID) results in numerous short- and long-term academic and social benefits. However, insufficient literature has explored the attitudes of constituent groups of universities toward the social and academic inclusion of students with ID before introducing these students to educational programs on campus. This paper reports on the results of a survey applied to administrators, faculty, staff, and students of a Southeastern public university to examine their attitudes toward students with ID in college academics and social activities on campus. The differences in attitudes were also examined based on the participants’ academic discipline, gender, and role within the academic community. The results indicate that all constituencies on campus had positive attitudes toward the participation of students with ID in college academics. However, significant differences were found based on their academic disciplines; participants from the College of Education had the most positive attitudes, while those from the College of Business had the least positive responses. Recommendations for future research are included. The article emphasizes the benefits of planning inclusive post-secondary programs to include students with ID and create a welcoming education environment to provide the best possible education to all students.

It is very important in fostering graduates who are ready to become entrepreneurs. The research aimed to investigate the influence of need for achievement, locus of control and attitudes toward entrepreneurial intentions of students of SMK Negeri 1 Batang Hari. Data analysis method used path analysis in which multiple regression models were tested with classical assumptions to determine the appropriate analysis model. The classical assumption test includes: normality test using the one-sample Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, homoscedasticity test using the Spearman’s Rho test, and linearity test using the lack of fit test and the multicollinearity test. With a sample of 175 class-XI students of all majors at SMKN 1 Batang Hari, the result shows that there is an influence of need for achievement, locus of control and attitudes toward students’ entrepreneurial intention at SMK Negeri 1 Batang Hari.

The purpose of this study is to explore the attitudes of faculty members at higher education toward inclusion for students with high incidence disabilities in higher education. For the aim of this study, a sample of 247 higher education faculty members were therefore collected. Multiple linear regression was conducted for data analysis. Results have shown that university-type accommodation services, training, academic rank, and university region are statistically significant predictors of higher education faculty members’ attitudes toward the inclusion for students with high incidence disabilities in higher education. Some recommendations are hence provided to help improve the inclusion of students with high incidence disabilities in higher education in Saudi Arabia.
