Abstract Strong, non-perturbative interactions often lead to new exciting physics, as epitomized by emergent anyons from the Fractional Quantum hall effect. Within the actively investigated domain of non-Hermitian physics, we discover a new family of states known as non-Hermitian skin clusters. Taking distinct forms as Vertex, Topological, Interface, Extended and Localized skin clusters, they generically originate from asymmetric correlated hoppings on a lattice, in the strongly interacting limit with quenched single-body energetics. Distinct from non-Hermitian skin modes which accumulate at boundaries, our skin clusters are predominantly translation invariant particle clusters. As purely interacting phenomena, they fall outside the purview of generalized Brillouin zone analysis, although our effective lattice formulation provides alternative analytic and topological characterization. Non-Hermitian skin clusters fundamentally originate from the fragmentation structure of the Hilbert space, and may thus be of significant interest in modern many-body contexts like the ETH and quantum scars.

The paper discusses some types of romantic art, their connection with the external and internal properties of the person, and the principle of subjectivity. According to Hegel, in classical art there is a perfect fusion of ideal content and sensual form. But the spirit is not just a single finite spirit connected to a single body; it is divine and infinite. Also, in romantic art, which is Christian in all its goals and aspirations, no sensual embodiment is felt adequate to spiritual content. The first art in the range of romantic arts is defined, which should, in this way, make visible its content in the forms of external human appearance and all natural creations, but without lingering on sensuality and abstraction. The fulfillment of this task is set by painting. The publication defines the place of mass art in modern culture, where the creative personality, as the creator and consumer of this art, translates new art, which should withstand the new reality of the 21 century. The stage of changing styles introduces its rules and wishes into art, as well as requires obeying new laws in the artistic life of modern society.

In the modern Russian criminal proceeding the role of the head of the investigative body has increased so much that it is no longer necessary to talk about any procedural independence of the investigator. This situation is highly criticized in the legal literature and the researchers note the necessity to return the investigator to the former procedural status. According to the author of the article, the current state of the issue should not be considered problematic since in the conditions of the changed criminal procedure regulations the investigator is no longer a single body of the preliminary investigation. The preliminary investigation is carried out jointly by the investigator and the head of the investigative body, who is assigned a leading and controlling role. In fact, there are grounds to speak about the collegiality of the modern preliminary investigation. At the same time, the preliminary investigation body is currently an investigative body and therefore procedural independence should be provided not to the investigator, but to the investigative body.

To date, there is considerable evidence of the effectiveness of acupuncture in fibromyalgia syndrome (FM). However, it is not known in which body areas acupuncture is more effective. The objective of this study was to assess the improvements of pain induced by acupuncture in single body areas in patients with FM. In this open-label pragmatic study, FM patients in a state of high disease severity were consecutively enrolled and treated with a course of 8 weekly sessions of manual acupuncture. Patients were assessed with the Self-Administered Pain Scale (SAPS) of the Fibromyalgia Assessment Status at baseline and at the end of eight acupuncture sessions. Acupuncture sessions were all conducted with the same acupuncture formula (LV3, SP6, ST36, LI4, CV6, CV12, Ex-HN-3, and GV20) in each session and in each patient. Ninety-six FM patients completed the course of treatment. All the 16 body areas assessed by SAPS showed improvement in pain. A statistically significant improvement was achieved in 12 of the 16 body areas investigated, with the best results in abdomen and forearms ( p = 0.001 ), while the worst results were registered for neck ( p = 0.058 ), chest ( p = 0.059 ), left buttock ( p = 0.065 ), and right thigh ( p = 0.052 ). The treatment has also shown significant effectiveness in improving fatigue and sleep quality ( p < 0.0001 ). Acupuncture has a beneficial effect on pain in all body areas in FM patients with high disease severity, with the greatest effects in the abdominal region and in the forearms, allowing a personalization of the treatment.

In recent times, the idea of popular sovereignty has figured prominently in the rhetoric of neo-populist thinkers and activists who argue that legal and political authority must be concentrated in one single body or individual elected by the people to act in its name. The thesis of this article is that, while the notion of popular sovereignty may seem to offer some support to the neo-populist image of democracy, it serves more persuasively to support the idea of a polycentric, constitutional democracy. The constitutional state can be polycentric and yet feature a sovereign. And if this constitutional state is democratic in the sense of distributing power relatively equally amongst individual citizens, thus empowering the people-several, then it will establish the people-corporate in the role of sovereign..

External peak power in the countermovement jump is frequently used to monitor athlete training. The gold standard method uses force platforms, but they are unsuitable for field-based testing. However, alternatives based on jump flight time or Newtonian methods applied to inertial sensor data have not been sufficiently accurate for athlete monitoring. Instead, we developed a machine learning model based on characteristic features (functional principal components) extracted from a single body-worn accelerometer. Data were collected from 69 male and female athletes at recreational, club or national levels, who performed 696 jumps in total. We considered vertical countermovement jumps (with and without arm swing), sensor anatomical locations, machine learning models and whether to use resultant or triaxial signals. Using a novel surrogate model optimisation procedure, we obtained the lowest errors with a support vector machine when using the resultant signal from a lower back sensor in jumps without arm swing. This model had a peak power RMSE of 2.3 W·kg-1 (5.1% of the mean), estimated using nested cross validation and supported by an independent holdout test (2.0 W·kg-1). This error is lower than in previous studies, although it is not yet sufficiently accurate for a field-based method. Our results demonstrate that functional data representations work well in machine learning by reducing model complexity in applications where signals are aligned in time. Our optimisation procedure also was shown to be robust can be used in wider applications with low-cost, noisy objective functions.

A single-body point absorber system is analysed to improve its power absorption at a finite water depth.  The proposed wave energy converter consists of a single floating body coupled to a direct-drive power take-off system placed on the seabed. The structure of a cylindrical buoy with large draft is changed by a single body composed of three structures rigidly coupled, reducing its volume and improving its frequency-dependent hydrostatic parameters that are obtained through a numerical analysis tool called NEMOH. The undamped natural frequency of the oscillating system is tuned to a specified wave period and the performance of the WEC system is obtained assuming a linear Power Take-Off system. In time domain, the performance of the WEC device is carried-out under a regular (sinusoidal) and irregular incident wave profile. Comparing the performance of the WEC system using the cylindrical and the proposed buoy outcomes that the system with the proposed buoy is able to absorb more energy from incident waves with a wider frequency range, whereas the oscillating system is kept as simple as possible.
