Introduction. The absorption of photon radiation causes biochemical, bioelectrical and bioenergetic effects in the biotissue. These primary effects, which occur directly under the action of photon irradiation, also cause secondary effects. Secondary effects are divided into three groups: analgesic, anti-inflammatory and biostimulating. At the same time, huge resources in the world are spent on the fight against diabetes and its complications. At the heart of the pathogenesis of the most common complications of diabetes are changes in the vessels of the microcirculatory tract that develop during the disease. Therefore, the possibility of using photonic physiotherapeutic effects for the prevention of complications of diabetes is of interest to researchers. The aim. The research method is investigated in experimental efficiency by means of radiation of a red spectrum for prevention of postoperative relations which can develop after publication of teeth against a diabetes mellitus. Materials and methods. Physiotherapeutic effect was performed using a multispectral photon system and morphological study of the features of surgical wound regeneration. Results. Research results. In the course of studying the pathomorphological features of post-extraction wound regeneration, the differences between the 1st and 2nd groups of animals were established. In the second group (photon physiotherapeutic effect was used) there was a less pronounced inflammatory cell infiltrate with fewer polymorphonuclear leukocytes in biopsies, a larger number of fibroblasts on the 3rd and 7th day of observation and faster appearance of fibrous structures in the granules. Epithelialization of the postextraction wound began earlier in group II, and the process of angiogenesis was also more active. Conclusion. The revealed morphological differences between the obtained results of the 1st and 2nd groups of animals testify to the positive therapeutic effect of photonic influence.

In recent years, there has been a significant complication of the clinical picture of somatoneurological and mental status of patients with intoxicated forms of alcohol dependence. The aim of the study was to clinically evaluate the effectiveness of the innovative complex in the complex and the development of a therapeutic algorithm for its use in drug practice. The object of our scientific and practical interests in recent years has been modeling, testing and implementation of a new generation of non-drug and pharmacological methods of treatment of acute and urgent drug pathology, and its consequences, creating a set of innovative laser treatment and rehabilitation programs. The therapeutic efficacy of the laser infusion therapeutic complex was evaluated using pre-treatment rating scales, first, third and fifth days of treatment. In the course of therapy a clinical and laboratory study, general blood and urine tests, biochemical blood test were performed. Based on the data, we can conclude about the high efficiency of laser infusion detoxification as a means of alleviating the drunken form of alcohol dependence. The rate of reduction of somatoneurological and psychopathological disorders was significantly higher in the case of using an innovative treatment module based on laser technology than in the process of therapy with traditional drugs. Clinical interpretation of the obtained results in the main group allowed recording the tendency to a more pronounced positive dynamics, which manifested in a smoother disappearance of post-intoxication symptoms. In our opinion, the main clinical feature of the laser complex is the differences in the intensity of the positive therapeutic effect, indicating the presence of pronounced detoxifying properties. Thus, the therapeutic effects of the proposed laser detoxification program are extremely necessary to alleviate the drunken form of alcohol dependence in drug practice. The obtained results expand the current possibilities of etiopathogenetic therapy and allow recommending the inclusion of the developed method in complex therapeutic and rehabilitation programs for the treatment of drug addicts.

The paper presents the results of the application of the plasmolifting technique in the treatment of various types of musculoskeletal pathology and analyzes the possible mechanisms of the positive therapeutic effect of this technique. It is suggested that its success is in direct proportion to the composition of the tissues that make up a particular articular formation. It is supposed that the conditions for the positive therapeutic effect of the platelet auto-suspension technique include, first of all, the presence of a branched network of capillaries, which provides sufficient blood supply and, as a result, access to the sanitized tissue of granulocytic cells. The second condition is the presence of connective tissue formations containing basophils and mast cells, which, together with the endothelium of the above capillaries, secrete a sufficient amount of cytokines that trigger the therapeutic effect of this manipulation. A number of recommendations were made to increase the sanitizing effect of the plasmolifting technique on a specific joint formation.

Diabetic retinopathy is among the most severe complications of diabetes, most often leading to rapid and irreversible vision loss. The laser coagulation procedure, which consists of applying microburns to the fundus, has proven to be an effective method for treating diabetic retinopathy. Unfortunately, modern research does not pay enough attention to the study of the arrangement of microburns in the edema area—one of the key factors affecting the quality of therapy. The aim of this study was to propose a computational decision-making support system for retina laser photocoagulation based on the analysis of photocoagulation plans. Firstly, we investigated a set of prognostic factors based on 29 features describing the geometric arrangement of coagulates. Secondly, we designed a technology for the intelligent analysis of the photocoagulation plan that allows the effectiveness of the treatment to be predicted. The studies were carried out using a large database of fundus images from 108 patients collected in clinical trials. The results demonstrated a high classification accuracy at a level of over 85% using the proposed prognostic factors. Moreover, the designed technology proved the superiority of the proposed algorithms for the automatic arrangement of coagulates, predicting a 99% chance of a positive therapeutic effect.

IntroductionIt has been reported that the NF-κB and MMP-9 signaling pathways were involved in the pathogenesis of osteoarthritis (OA), while the treatment of OA by YSY01 could inhibit the proteasome activity. Therefore, we aimed to study the therapeutic effect of YSY01A treatment on OA via interfering with expression of NF-κB and MMP-9.Material and methodsWestern blot analysis and immunohistochemistry (IHC) assays were used to measure the expression of NF-κB and MMP-9 in animal models established via SH treatment or cellular models established via sodium nitroprusside (SNP) treatment. MTT assay and flow cytometry analysis were performed to observe the effect of YSY01 treatment on cell viability and apoptosis.ResultsThe decreased expression of NF-κB and MMP-9 was observed in OA rabbits and cells treated by YSY01A, thus indicating the inhibitory effect of YSY01A on NF-κB and MMP-9 expression. And YSY01A exhibited a positive therapeutic effect on OA both in vivo and in vitro by inhibiting the expression of NF-κB and MMP-9. Meanwhile, YSY01A treatment could increase cell viability to a certain degree and decrease the apoptosis index, which suggested the application of YSY01A in OA therapy.ConclusionsThe levels of NF-κB and MMP-9 which were associated with aggravated apoptosis were up-regulated in OA models in vivo and in vitro. YSY01A treatment could down-regulate the expression of NF-κB and MMP-9 and inhibit cell apoptosis, thus reducing the severity of OA.

A brief overview of the relevance of using garland chrysanthemum (Glebionis coronaria (L.) Cass. ex Spach syn. Chrysanthemum coronarium (L.)) as a raw material in the preparation of medicaments is introduced in this article. High content of micro- and macroelements (K, Na, Ca, P, Zn, Fe, Cu, Mn, J) was found in garland chrysanthemum, as well as other biologically active compounds, of which anthraquinones (emodin, chrysophanol), flavonoids (quercetin, rutin), carotenoids and ascorbic acid (up to 56.0 mg%) can be considered the main ones, likewise vitamins B, PP and free amino acids (lysine, methionine, cysteine, histidine, arginine, threonine, serine, proline, glycine, valine, isoleucine, leucine, tyrosine, phenylalanine; nine of which are essential). These elements have a positive therapeutic effect on the cardiovascular system, the human gastrointestinal tract. The garland chrysanthemum is a very plastic and undemanding vegetable crop with medicinal properties. It is capable of growing on technogenic soils contaminated with cobalt, zinc and nickel, accumulating these elements to a lesser extent than traditional vegetable plants, which is very important in modern conditions. It is shown that in the conditions of the Moscow region it can be well grown by sowing seeds directly on field, continues to maintain the rhythms of growth and development, passes through all phenological phases and gives a stable high yield of green mass — up to 5.3 kg/m2, inflorescences — up to 1.4 kg/m2, seeds — up to 130.0 g/m2. Low laboratory and field germination of seeds up to 50 % has been established.

In modern pediatric practice, inhalated hypertonic saline (IHS) is often used for therapeutic and diagnostic purposes. However, the potential development of serious side effects in children is not predicted. The aim of the study was to determine the efficacy and tolerability of IHS of various concentrations in children with cystic fibrosis (CF). The study involved 34 children with CF aged 6 to 18 years (middle age is 13.0±4.4 years). The comparison group consisted of 27 children (middle age is 7.8±2.3 years) without chronic respiratory diseases. The study included three consecutive inhalations. Sterile 0.9% NaCl solution was used for the first inhalation, 3 % NaCl solution – for the second one and 7% NaCl solution – for the third inhalation. For children under 7 years of age, a patented method of obtaining sputum without forced coughing was used. Spirometry was performed before and after each inhalation, and clinical changes were analyzed. It was noted that after inhalation of IHS, the cough in patients became more productive, moist rales were more often heard over the entire surface of the lungs. The activity of induced sputum secretion after inhalation of 3% and 7% NaCl solution did not differ significantly. However, after inhalation of 7% NaCl solution, side effects, such as sore throat, shortness of breath, spastic cough, auscultatory symptoms of bronchospasm were recorded significantly more often compared with lower concentrations of the solution. The decrease in FEV1 was observed in 5.8% of patients after inhalation of 3% NaCl solution and in 11.8% of patients after inhalation of 7% NaCl solution, which was significantly associated with the clinical symptoms of bronchospasm. Inhalation of IHS has an effective mucolytic effect in patients with CF, however, it is necessary to determine the individual sensitivity of the patient to predict a positive therapeutic effect.

Denosumab is a human monoclonal antibody that neutralizes RANKL, a cytokine able to interact with the RANK receptor on preosteoclasts and osteoclasts, decreasing their recruitment and differentiation, leading to a decreased bone resorption. The aim of this observational real-life study was to analyze adherence to denosumab therapy and assess its efficacy in increasing bone mineral density (BMD) and modulating biochemical skeletal markers following previous treatments with bisphosphonates in a group of post-menopausal women with osteoporosis. Women were recruited in the specialized center from March 2012 to September 2019. Biochemical markers were recorded at baseline and every six months prior to subsequent drug injection. Dual X-ray absorptiometry was requested at baseline and after 18/24 months. Comparing BMD at baseline and after denosumab therapy in naive patients and in those previously treated with bisphosphonates, a positive therapeutic effect was observed in both groups. The results of our real-life study demonstrate, as expected, that BMD values significantly increased upon denosumab treatment. Interestingly, denosumab showed an increased efficacy in patients previously treated with bisphosphonates. Moreover, biochemical markers data indicate that osteoporotic patients, without other concomitant unstable health conditions, could be evaluated once a year, decreasing the number of specialistic center access.

Abstract: Sports-related traumatic brain injury (TBI) is one of the common neurological maladies experienced by athletes. Earlier the term ‘punch drunk syndrome’ was used in the case TBI of boxers and now this term is replaced by chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE). Sports-related brain injury can either be short term or long term. A common instance of brain injury encompasses subdural hematoma, concussion, cognitive dysfunction, amnesia, headache, vision issue, axonopathy, or even death if remain undiagnosed or untreated. Further, chronic TBI may lead to pathogenesis of neuroinflammation and neurodegeneration via tauopathy, formation of neurofibrillary tangles, and damage to the blood-brain barrier, microglial, and astrocyte activation. Thus, altered pathological, neurochemical, and neurometabolic attributes lead to the modulation of multiple signaling pathways and cause neurological dysfunction. Available pharmaceutical interventions are based on one drug one target hypothesis and thereby unable to cover altered multiple signaling pathways. However, in recent time’s pharmacological intervention of nutrients and nutraceuticals have been explored as they exert a multifactorial mode of action and maintain over homeostasis of the body. There are various reports available showing the positive therapeutic effect of nutraceuticals in sport-related brain injury. Therefore, in the current article we have discussed the pathology, neurological consequence, sequelae, and perpetuation of sports-related brain injury. Further, we have discussed various nutraceutical supplements as well as available animal models to explore the neuroprotective effect/ upshots of these nutraceuticals in sports-related brain injury.
