<p><span lang="EN-US">This paper will describe the phenomenon of code mixing and code switching in <em>Aḥbabtuka Akśara <a name="_Hlk89780555"></a>Min Mā Yanbagī'</em>s novel based on sociolinguistic studies. The phenomenon of code mixing and code switching in this novel is worth further investigation because the novel makes extensive use of code mixing and code switching.. In addition, code mixing and code switching in <em>Aḥbabtuka Akśara Min Mā Yanbagī's </em>novel has not been discussed by other researchers. Based on the research that has been done, it is concluded that the code mixing in the novel <em>Aḥbabtuka Akśara Min Mā Yanbagī </em>is in the form of words and phrases. The form of code-mixing found is code-mixing of English words and phrases. The most widely used code switching is internal code switching and external code switching. Internal code switching occurs from <em>Fuṣḥā </em>Arabic to <em>Amiyah</em> Arabic and back to <em>Fuṣḥā </em>Arabic. In addition, external code switching occurs from Arabic <em>Fuṣḥā</em> to English and back again to Arabic <em>Fuṣḥā</em>. The factors that cause code mixing in <em>Aḥbabtuka Akśara Min Mā Yanbagī</em>'s novel (2014) by Aṡīr 'Abdullāh are (a) bringing up humor, (b) appreciation for the interlocutor, (c) petition to the interlocutor, and (d) annoyance. The factors that cause code switching are (a) the attitude of the speaker, and (b) the expression of the speaker's solidarity with the group.</span></p>

In this paper, a phytoplankton and zooplankton relationship system with two delays is investigated whose coefficients are related to one of the two delays. Firstly, the dynamic behaviors of the system with one delay are given and the stability of positive equilibrium and the existence of periodic solutions are obtained. Using the fact that the system may occur, the stable switching phenomenon is verified. Under certain conditions, the periodic solutions will exist in a wide range as the delay gets away from critical values. Fixing the delay [Formula: see text] in the stable interval, it is revealed that the effect of [Formula: see text] can also cause the vibration of system. This explains that two delays play an important role in the oscillation behavior of the system. Furthermore, using the crossing curve methods, the stable changes of the positive equilibrium in two-delays plane are given, which generalizes the results of systems for which the coefficients do not depend on delay. Some numerical simulations are provided to verify the theoretical results.

In Malaysia, English as a second language is used as a medium of instruction in most institutions of higher learning. Although it is compulsory to use English as a medium of instruction for all academic programmes, code-switching is still prevalent in the classroom for instance during an oral presentation. This phenomenon is also common among the students in the bachelor’s degree in International Business (BIB) at a private university in Selangor, Malaysia that became the context of this study. Hence, this research aimed to explore the BIB students’ perceptions on the utilisation of code-switching during oral presentations, and to identify the frequency of its usage in their speech. The participants of this study were 203 students from the Faculty of Business Management and Professional Studies (FBMP) of a private university in Selangor, Malaysia, who are currently doing their bachelor’s degree in International Business. The research instrument employed was a questionnaire that was accessible through a google form link by all the 203 students. Descriptive statistics were run to analyse the data collected. The findings of this study revealed that the students perceived positively the use of code-switching during oral presentations. Majority of them agreed that they code-switched to overcome their lack of proficiency in English such as limited vocabulary, and to ease their oral presentations. Most of the students admitted they frequently code-switched during oral presentations. From these findings, important implications and recommendations for future research were elucidated.

In this study, the resistive switching phenomenon in Al/SiO2/n++-Si structures is observed and studied by means of DC, small-signal admittance, and complex impedance spectroscopy measurements. Possible transport mechanisms in the high and low resistance states are identified. Based on the results of the applied measurement techniques, an electrical equivalent circuit of the structure is proposed. We discuss the effect of parasitic elements influencing the measurement results and show that a proper model can give useful information about the electrical properties of the device. A good agreement between the characteristics of the proposed equivalent circuit and the experimental data, based on different measurement procedures, confirms the validity of the used methodology and its applicability to the electrical characterization of RRAMs.

Nanostructured films of carbon and TiO2 nanoparticles have been produced by means of a simple two-step procedure based on flame synthesis and thermophoretic deposition. At first, a granular carbon film is produced on silicon substrates by the self-assembling of thermophoretically sampled carbon nanoparticles (CNPs) with diameters of the order of 15 nm. Then, the composite film is obtained by the subsequent thermophoretic deposition of smaller TiO2 nanoparticles (diameters of the order of 2.5 nm), which deposit on the surface and intercalate between the carbon grains by diffusion within the pores. A bipolar resistive switching behavior is observed in the composite film of CNP-TiO2. A pinched hysteresis loop is measured with SET and RESET between low resistance and high resistance states occurring for the electric field of 1.35 × 104 V/cm and 1.5 × 104 V/cm, respectively. CNP-TiO2 film produced by flame synthesis is initially in the low resistive state and it does not require an electroforming step. The resistance switching phenomenon is attributed to the formation/rupture of conductive filaments through space charge mechanism in the TiO2 nanoparticles, which facilitate/hinder the electrical conduction between carbon grains. Our findings demonstrate that films made of flame-formed CNP-TiO2 nanoparticles are promising candidates for resistive switching components.

One of the promising nonvolatile memories of the next generation is resistive random-access memory (ReRAM). It has vast benefits in comparison to other emerging nonvolatile memories. Among different materials, dielectric films have been extensively studied by the scientific research community as a nonvolatile switching material over several decades and have reported many advantages and downsides. However, less attention has been given to low-dimensional materials for resistive memory compared to dielectric films. Particularly, β-Ga2O3 is one of the promising materials for high-power electronics and exhibits the resistive switching phenomenon. However, low-dimensional β-Ga2O3 nanowires have not been explored in resistive memory applications, which hinders further developments. In this article, we studied the resistance switching phenomenon using controlled electron flow in the 1D nanowires and proposed possible resistive switching and electron conduction mechanisms. High-density β-Ga2O3 1D-nanowires on Si (100) substrates were produced via the VLS growth technique using Au nanoparticles as a catalyst. Structural characteristics were analyzed via SEM, TEM, and XRD. Besides, EDS, CL, and XPS binding feature analyses confirmed the composition of individual elements, the possible intermediate absorption sites in the bandgap, and the bonding characteristics, along with the presence of various oxygen species, which is crucial for the ReRAM performances. The forming-free bipolar resistance switching of a single β-Ga2O3 nanowire ReRAM device and performance are discussed in detail. The switching mechanism based on the formation and annihilation of conductive filaments through the oxygen vacancies is proposed, and the possible electron conduction mechanisms in HRS and LRS states are discussed.

HighlightsThe flow behavior of water jets discharged from different orifices was investigated.High-speed photography (HSP) was used to obtain surface structures and spread characteristics of water jets. The deformation process in axis switching related to the corner vortices effect of non-circular jets was researched by numerical simulation. The axis switching of non-circular jets enhances entrainment ability of the jet.ABSTRACT. Low-intermediate pressure sprinkler irrigation systems are important research topics in the field of water-saving irrigation. Non-circular nozzles improve spray uniformity at lower pressures and are key components of sprinkler irrigation systems. In this article, the behavior of discharged water jets from nozzles with circular, square, and equilateral triangular orifices designed with the same flow rate was investigated. High-speed photography (HSP) was used to capture jet characteristics in the near field (z&lt;20D). The largest spread angle was obtained for the square jet, which was on average 37% larger than that of the circular jet. In addition, numerical simulations were performed to analyze the axis-switching process using the large-eddy simulation (LES) method and the coupled level-set and volume of fluid (CLSVOF) method. The axis-switching phenomenon was observed in non-circular jets, in which surrounding air mixed with the jet and promoted the formation of thin diaphragm structures. The deformation process that occurs in axis switching is described according to the simulated vorticity and velocity fields. The research results suggest the axis-switching phenomenon is induced by corner vortex motions produced by the polygonal orifice, which accelerate the decay of the axial velocity and increase the jet entrainment rate. Thus, the effect of corner vortices should be considered in the design of polygonal nozzles.
