Studies have shown that online product reviews can indicate the position of a competitive brand. Even though reviews on different platforms may express different opinions, most studies are based on only one platform. This may lead to an inaccurate analysis of market structure. To solve this problem, we develop a novel market structure analysis based on multi-attribute group decision-making which can integrate reviews from different platforms. Multiple platforms more comprehensively reflect the market than single platforms do. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed method, we conduct a case study of mobile phone reviews across three top e-commerce platforms in China. In addition, we propose a process to generate priorities for product-attribute improvements using a cross-platform market structure analysis method. Our experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

The banking industry has become a substantial part of the economy. This paper traces the change in market structure and assess the level of competition among the top 10 banks of Indonesia for the period 2005-2014. Then also distinguishing between before and after the Global Financial Crisis. Utilizing the Panzar-Rosse method and panel data, we discovered that the results show an increase in the H-value from 2005-2009 to 2010-2014 and a movement towards an almost perfectly competitive environment. Interest rates drove the short response of post-crisis on the competition. Therefore governmental supervision is required to prevent liquidity issues due to the imposition of high-interest rates. Keywords: Banking, Competition, Global Financial Crisis, Panzar-Rosse ModelJEL Classification: D40, D41, G21, L11

The article is devoted to the problem of integrating the methodology of analysis of transaction costs into the general analysis of mergers and acquisitions of companies. In the face of increasing competition in the international market for knowledge-intensive technologies, in order to save time, large companies are forced to acquire established teams of highly qualified specialists through mergers and acquisitions. However, this procedure is characterized by a high threshold of economically inefficient transactions, which reduces the competitiveness of the entire industry. The purpose of the study is to analyze the criteria for evaluating the effectiveness of the M & A strategy. The scientific novelty lies in the synthesis of institutional and accounting approaches, which make it possible to conclude that the merger and takeover of companies is not just a transfer of workers or property from one firm to another, it is also a change in transactions, and therefore transaction costs, the analysis of which is overwhelmingly washed out when studying such transactions.

Title: Structure, Conduct and Performance Analysis of Tuna Industries in Indonesia Tuna is a major fishery export commodity in Indonesia, although based on data from the Central Bureau Statistics Indonesian tuna exports experience a slowing trend in the value of exports from 2012 to 2018. Analysis of market conduct shows that the determination of the price of export tuna is carried out by the buyer and promotion is carried out through a trade exhibition and sending samples to prospective buyers. The calculation of market performance indicators shows that the marketing performance of frozen tuna is better than processed tuna. The recommended policy are to facilitate investment to reducing the level of competition. In addition itneeds supervision by the business competition committee, especially on processed tuna commodities. Increasing the competitiveness of Indonesian tuna also needs to be done to be more instrumental indetermining prices in the export market. Market performance can be improved through saving input costs or increasing output volume.

Background and Purpose: The aim of this paper is to evaluate public acceptance toward Islamic banking system in Malaysia by using the market structure analysis as proposed in industrial organizational studies. The structural approach framework was used to evaluate the nature and changes of market concentration in the Malaysian Islamic and conventional deposit markets.   Methodology: The well-known market concentration measure, namely concentration ratio (CR) is calculated to study the changes in saving behaviour among depositors in both banking markets. The concentration ratios of deposits for both banking markets are evaluated by using the banking firms’ level data for the period 1997–2016. Pearson and Spearman correlation analysis was also used to investigate the relationship between the total deposits and bank-specific variables.   Findings: It is found that interest or profit rate paid to the depositors are the factor that greatly affect the depositors’ choice of banks to save their money. Besides, experience doing businesses is more important to Islamic banks compared to conventional banks in order to attract depositors.   Contributions: The findings demonstrate that societies, especially the Islamic community, are still loyal to conventional banks, which have more experience in the banking operation. The findings of this study are expected to open the eyes of the Muslim community to use Islamic banking services, which are certainly sharia-compliance.   Keywords: Concentration ratio, deposit, dual banking, market structure, perception.   Cite as: Mohammed, N., Jauhari, A., & Mohammed, N.
