The first wave of the Covid-19 pandemic hit India in January 2020 when the first confirmed case was reported at a general hospital of Kerala. Since then, the number of reported cases kept on increasing at a steady pace, we saw deaths, rise, fall and stagnancy in the number of cases in India while the figures of deaths reported remained worrisome. While India is currently battling with the deadly double mutant variant of the virus, the present critical review is an attempt to study, analyse and understand the need of catering to the needs of geriatric population, especially in a collectivistic culture like India, where elderly issues, psychological difficulties, and coping mechanism takes a back seat while there is constant fear of leading a healthy life especially in the testing times of a national pandemic, COVID-19. This critical review is an attempt to highlight the various issues dealt by the average Indian elderly, their lifestyle after retirement, sustaining means of livelihood in times of uncertainty and keeping a positive mindset for a better quality of life. This paper also attempts to enumerate few strategies required to inculcate a sense of life satisfaction and improved quality of life among the elderly.

INTRODUCTION: Titanium is biologically inert, hard, rigid, strong, durable, light-weight, resistant to infection, easy to handle and relatively inexpensive, hence frequently used as the material of choice for cranioplasty. But at the same time there is signicant rate of complications, most commonly infection, poor cosmesis, hematoma, headache, seizure and implant exposure necessitating re-operation and implant removal. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The present study was conducted in the department of neurosurgery, Bangur Institute of Neurosciences(B.I.N), Kolkata & SSKM Hospital, IPGME & R, Kolkata from January 2019 to December 2020. The study design was non-randomized prospective observational study. The period of study was 2 years. The sample size was 30. OBSERVATIONS AND RESULTS: Total 30 patients underwent cranioplasty. Their mean age was 38 years (range, 20-62 years) with a male:female ratio of 3:2. Ten patients developed postoperative complications, making a cranioplasty complication rate of 33.34%. Out of 10 patients, 5 (50%) required further surgical procedure including 4 cases of cranioplasty removal, the overall removal rate of 13.34%. Overall mortality was nil. CONCLUSION: Titanium mesh cranioplasty though a very common procedure used for correction of craniectomy skull defect is not totally free from complication. Our present study analyse the various causative factors which may lead to complications and implant failure. We have to be very judicious in the use of materials and other modalities used for skull defect repair depending upon the current materials available, the patient's general condition, co-morbidity, their economic status and modality of surgery.

Since the Z-Source Inverter (ZSI) was first proposed in 2003, impedance source inverters (ISI) have experienced a rapid progress. This evolution is not limited to developing network topologies, but also involves their modulation and control techniques to improve their performance and efficiency from different aspects. Accordingly, discontinuous PWM (DZPWM) techniques gained substantial attension in the last few years due to their advantages compared with continuous modulation schemes. The aim of this paper is to study, analyse, and compare three recent DZPWM methods for the Zsource/ quasi-Z-source inverter (qZSI). The operating principal of each DZPWM technique has been presented and analyzed. Moreover, a comparative investigation based on the inductor current ripple, voltage gain, power loss, and some other factors has been carried-out. Finally, computer simulations using MATLAB/Simulink and PLECS softwares have been performed to evaluate the presented DZPWM techniques. Such a comparative analysis helps researchers and designers to choose for their ISI modulation strategy for their application.

Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma is one of the common types of malignant lesion and has its highest prevalence round the world.  Though it is a common disorder, many of the patients only diagnose it in its advanced stage and these results in poor prognosis of the disease. In later stage, these lesions may severely develop in to lymph node metastasis and has more chances to spread across any of the vital organs. Barrett‟s esophagus, herpes simplex esophagitis, candidial esophagitis, leiomyoma, hyperplastic polyps are few of the benign and premalignant type of lesions.  The advancement in endoscopy has opened many opportunities and diagnosis of all esophageal lesions became simple and effective. As the surgical procedures associated with the targeted therapy have become promising option for the treatment, many patients are being benefited out of technological advancement. The surplus of malignancies such as esophagus, esophago- gastric junction and stomach have become a significant health problem and threatening the people all over the world. Delayed diagnosis on these disorders particularly resulting in high mortality ratio and warrant for a systematic evaluation in patients.  In this context, the present study analyse the association and prognostic significance  of HER2/ neu in gastroesophageal lesions with other factors like age, size, histological type and grading and  the incidence and distribution of gastroesophageal lesions in patients.

Currently, the world is getting more poisonous due to the toxic contaminated and wastewater release from the industries activities. The designers should analyse the effect to the environmental and human health, prior starting any manufacturing and fabricating process. This technique able to optimize the company profit and reduced unnecessary cost by predict any consequences and do correction step before the problem emerge for every action taken. Therefore, this paper aim to provide the evidence that the selection of material and manufacturing process used to fabricate ACB has minimum impact on the environment and human health. A few methods can be used to calculate the environmental damage assessment such as network, compare and uncertainty analysis. In this study, analyse calculation method selected to predict the environmental impact. The results for the damage to human health analysis only contribute 0.0125 DALY, analysis results for the hazardous elements such as methane, trichlorofluoromethane and Chlorofluorocarbons produced during the fabrication process only 1.32 x 10-9 DALY. Besides, the major damage elements to ecosystem quality results only contribute 1.97 x 10-4 species.yr. Therefore, the remarkable results show that the process and material selection to fabricate ACB are very low which was below than 0.1 DALY. Moreover, damage assessment for the terrestrial ecotoxicity of pulforming process using oil palm natural/glass fibre reinforced polyurethane composite only contributed 1.13 × 10−10 (species.year). Consequently, the process could not damage the human health and indicates that the process is environmentally friendly and safe for the ecosystem.

In 2019, Gambia, a small country which located in West Africa, is suing Myanmar to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) with alleging that Myanmar has violated the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide 1948. The governments of Myanmar in doing the violations were intended to destroy the Rohingya Muslim as a group, wholly or partly, followed by other violations such as mass murder, rape, and also damage to the villages by fire with some people are still locked in the house and burnt inside the house. Government of Myanmar keep doing so, because based on Burma Citizenship Law 1982, Myanmar doesn’t recognize the existence of Rohingya as citizen of Myanmar. It causes Rohingya as stateless. The study is normative legal research with Statute Approach and Case Approach. The study analyse the violations which is done by Myanmar to the Rohingya Ethnic in Rakhine. The result shows that International Court of Justice has a jurisdiction upon Rohingya case under the Statute of the Court as well as the Genocide Convention. The statute of the Court in Article 36 (1) stated that ICJ has jurisdiction to all cases of the Convention as long as the states are contracting parties. The Article IX of the Convention also stated that any dispute between contracting parties must be referred to ICJ.

The following paper is devoted to the problem of criminal climatology. It is one of the innovative issues analyzed within the framework of ecocriminology — a new field of criminology that has been dynamically developing since the beginning of the 20th century. The issue is analysed from a national, regional and global perspective. The authors of the study analyse and synthesise the scientific achievements of ecocriminology to date, with particular emphasis on criminal problems related to climate. It should be stressed that research in this area has so far been undertaken almost exclusively in the Anglo-Saxon criminology circle. The gap in the Polish criminological literature is filled by the representatives of the Olsztyn School of Ecocriminology. At the same time, the authors of the article try to answer the question whether there are relations between climatic and weather phenomena and criminal and pathological behaviour. In the opinion of the authors, ecocriminological research may constitute a new tool to identify civilization’s threats in the area of environmental protection. Criminal climatology can therefore be a valuable source of criminological thought to fill the gaps in the existing knowledge on crime and pathological behaviours. At the same time, it is a very prospective trend in scientific analysis which requires further research work. The article discusses the genesis of criminal climatology, characterises its achievements to date, specifies the main areas of climatic threats and proposes directions for potential future scientific undertakings in this area.
