Yogurt products are consumed by millions of people every day. Consumers’ priority for ready-to-eat yogurt snacks enriched with various plant raw materials have increased each year. Therefore, the aim of this study was to prepare freeze-dried yoghurt bites with the addition of powders of beetroot, mulberry leaves, nettle leaves and rosehip fruit and to investigate these raw materials’ influence on the proximate composition, mineral and total phenolic content. The moisture, protein, fat, carbohydrate and sugar content of the yogurt bites were established using standard methods: mineral composition—using an inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICP-MS); total phenolic content—by the spectrophotometric method. The results demonstrated that the addition of different raw material powders to the formulation of yogurt bites had no significant influence on carbohydrate, protein and total fat amounts. However, the incorporation of powders of beetroot, mulberry leaves, nettle leaves and rosehip fruit in yogurt bites allowed a significant increase of the amounts of all investigated minerals and total phenolic content of the manufactured bites. Among all investigated yogurt bites, the highest amounts of K, P, Mg, Fe and Zn were determined for yogurt bites enriched with nettle leaves. In conclusion, the enrichment of yogurt bites with freeze-dried plant raw material powders can increase amounts of selected minerals and total phenolic content.

Abstract The energy-efficient crushing of dried fibrous plant materials is usually hampered when the sieve holes of the crushing unit are clogged with not-grinded particles. The purpose of the study was to investigate the crushing process of dried plant raw material and determine the effect of the operating modes of a crushing unit on the crushing quality and energy consumption. The experimental tool was a rotary crushing unit with alternate knives and hammers. The objects of crushing were dried leafy mass of grass. There has been found that when the linear speed of the rotor knives rises, the fractional composition of the crushed product changes, namely, the proportion of fine fraction (less than 1.3 mm) increases and the proportion of large particles (more than 1.3 mm) reduces. The rise of the knives speed results in productivity improvement, but increases energy consumption of crushing as well. The optimal range of changing the knives’ speed was 55…65 m·s-1 to obtain a product of the required fractional composition. The use of the method of crushing dried fibrous plant materials and a rotary crushing unit will allow organizing energy-efficient crushing of dried leafy stem mass.

The medicinal plants and its active principles are playing a dominant role in the maintenance of human health since ancient times. The degree of threat to natural population of medicinal plants has increased, because more than 90% of medicinal plant raw material for herbal industries in India draw from natural habitat In ayurvedic medicine Dasamula plants are top traded group and their annual demand is more than1000 Metric tons, Prsniparni moola is one among the Dasamula, The degree of threat to natural population of medicinal plants has increased, because more than 90% of medicinal plant raw material for herbal industries in India draws from natural habitat, this demand is not often met with supply of original raw drugs alone and is topped up with other species of plants that are substitutes or adulterants. This directly affects the quality and efficacy of the herbal products and the same has reflected in case of Uraria picta. Over usage, destructive harvesting and lack of cultivation have reduced the availability of Uraria picta. Inorder to characterize and compare the raw drugs used as prsniparni in market, the candidate species traded under the name Prsniparni were subjected to macroscopic and organoleptic evaluation, microscopic study, Physical and Phytochemical evaluation.

The aim of this work was to study of diagnostic signs of the morphological and anatomical structure of Veronica crista-galli Steven. from the flora of Azerbaijan. Materials and methods. The samples for research were collected during their flowering time in June 2018, in the Ismailli region of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Plant samples were fixed in a solution made in 0.1 M phosphate buffer (pH=7.4), containing 2.5 % glutar-aldehyde, 2.5 % paraformal-aldehyde and 0.1 % picric acid. In the next stage was the preparation of block and their filling in Araldite – Epon according to the TEM method. Results. The leaf is simple, lower part is short-petiolate and upper is sessile. The surface, on both sides of the leaf, is reliefly, and 7–8 conductive veins are clearly visible. The lower and upper sides of the leaf, and also margin, are strewn with multicellular hairs. The calyx of the flower consists of two sepals which grown together at the base, covered with simple multicellular hairs. The stalk in is a long filiform. The corolla of flower consists of 4 petals which grown together at the base and 2 stamens attached to the tube of the corolla. On the epidermis, cells with sinuous and bead-like walls, numerous stomata of the stavrocytic type, capitate hairs are visible. From the cross section of the leaf, it is visible that palisade tissue at the upper and sponge tissue at the bottom. Conclusions. As a result of morphological and anatomical studies, it was revealed that diagnostic signs of plant raw material can be: Present of multicellular hairs on the leaf blade; The location of the capsule between the sepals; Stavrocytic type of the stoma structure; The bead-like walls of the epidermis; Capitate hairs on the epidermis; Sepals covered by hairs. The established anatomical diagnostic features can be used for the drafting of the normative document on the plant raw materials and for identification of plant raw material of Veronica crista-galli

AbstractTrans-anethole possesses several biological and pharmacological effects. It is also used as masking agent in household products and as a flavoring agent in food. Clausena anisata (Willd.) Hook. f. ex Benth. leaves are reported as a source of trans-anethole that makes their anise-like odor. This work sought to optimize the dynamic maceration of C. anisata leaves to maximize the trans-anethole content. The circumscribed central composite experimental design was applied to investigate the effects of extraction temperature and time on extraction yield, trans-anethole content in the extract, and trans-anethole content in the plant raw material. The results showed that the extraction yield was high when C. anisata leaves were extracted over a long extraction time, while the extraction temperature had a lesser effect on the extraction yield. Trans-anethole content in the extract and plant raw material determined using a linear, specific, precise, and accurate HPLC method was high when a medium extraction temperature with a short extraction time was used. The optimal condition that maximized trans-anethole content involved an extraction temperature of 61.8 °C and an extraction time of 12.9 min, respectively. The percentage error of the prediction conducted by computer software was low, suggesting that the prediction was highly accurate. In conclusion, the optimal condition of dynamic maceration obtained from this work could be used as a guide for maximizing trans-anethole content from C. anisata leaves.
