Abstract In this manuscript, the composite galaxy SDSS J103911-000057 (=SDSS J1039) is reported as a true Type-2 AGN candidate without hidden BLRs. Only narrow emission lines, not broad, detected in SDSS J1039 can be confirmed both by the F-test technique and by the expected broad emission lines with an EW smaller than 13.5 Å with a 99% confidence level. Meanwhile, a reliable AGN power-law component is preferred with a confidence level higher than 7σ in SDSS J1039. Furthermore, the long-term variability of SDSS J1039 from Catalina Sky Survey can be described by the DRW process with an intrinsic variability timescale τ ∼ 100 days, similar to normal quasars. And, based on BH mass in SDSS J1039 through the M BH–σ relation and on the correlation between AGN continuum luminosity and total Hα luminosity, the expected broad Hα, if there was one, could be reconstructed with a line width of about 300–1000 km s−1 and with a line flux of about 666 × 10−17 erg s−1 cm−2 under the virialization assumption to BLRs, providing robust evidence to reject the probability that the intrinsic probable broad Hα was overwhelmed by noises of the SDSS spectrum in SDSS J1039. Moreover, SDSS J1039 follows the same correlation between continuum luminosity and [O iii] line luminosity as the one for normal broad-line AGN, indicating SDSS J1039 classified as a changing-look AGN in the dim state can be ruled out. Therefore, under the current knowledge, SDSS J1039 is a better candidate for a true Type-2 AGN.

Abstract Tension insulator string is one of the important components of transmission lines and it needs to have enough mechanical strength to transfer the load between conductors and towers. However, due to the large size of the tension insulator strings, it is usually impossible to carry out the true type experiments. In this paper, the dimensional analysis was adopted to establish the mapping scale models of typical tension strings, namely 8N42-50100-55P at first. Then, the load scaling ratios of three typical tension insulator strings were obtained based on the results of the ice shedding calculation on an actual UHVDC transmission lines. Finally, the dynamic experiments of the scale tension insulator strings were carried out to access the feasible of technical route and to provide a technical support for the following research.

For 80 years, there were no sightings of the Andean frog, Telmatobius halli, due to the ambiguity with which its type locality was described (“warm spring near Ollagüe”, northern Chile). The type specimens were collected during the International High Altitude Expedition to Chile (IHAEC) in 1935 and were subsequently described in 1938. In 2018 and 2020, two studies independently reported the rediscovery of the species, but they reached different conclusions about its identity and geographic distribution. In fact, the populations identified as T. halli in those studies are more phylogenetically related to other species than to each other, so they clearly do not belong to the same taxon. Although the study of 2020 is more in line with the geographic information of the description, it does not consider some bibliographic details and the transport limitations of the IHAEC. Here, based on a detailed analysis of the chronicles of the IHAEC and other bibliographic sources, I first refute the proposals of the 2018 and 2020 studies and then provide a possible solution. The combined information from the chronicles indicates that the type locality of T. halli is found at the sources of the Loa River, a different place from those identified in the two previous studies. By also incorporating geographic information of the time, I conclude that its true type locality is Miño, an abandoned mining camp located near the origin of the Loa River, where currently no populations of the genus have been described.

Background: Inappropriate allergy labelling is associated with significant clinical and pharmacoeconomic implications. Detailed antimicrobial allergy assessments represent a key component of antimicrobial stewardship and aid in identifying true type I (immediate hypersensitivity) reactions. The allergy history form currently used at the University Hospital of Northern British Columbia (UHNBC), in Prince George, relies on the assessor’s ability to ask appropriate prompting questions to obtain a thorough history, but it may not be sufficient to accurately identify true allergies. Objective: To compare a standardized allergy history questionnaire and the current allergy history form in terms of the quality and quantity of documentation gathered. Methods: This prospective observational study involved patients who were admitted to medical and surgical services at UHNBC from November 2018 to January 2019 with a penicillin-class allergy reported on their electronic medical record (EMR). A list of patients with EMR-reported allergies was generated by the hospital’s health information software system, and these patients were interviewed using the standardized allergy history questionnaire. Results: A total of 48 patients were assessed during the study period. Nineteen (40%) of the patients had an inappropriate allergy label on their EMR. Only 36 (75%) had an allergic reaction described on their EMR. Furthermore, only 36 (75%) of the 48 patients had the same allergy recorded on the EMR and on the allergy history form contained in their paper chart, of whom 22 had a documented reaction. The mean time to complete the standardized allergy history questionnaire was 2 minutes. Conclusions: At the study institution, documentation of allergy histories was often incomplete. Detailed allergy assessments are the first step in identifying true immunoglobulin E–mediated hypersensitivity reactions. Utilization of a standardized allergy history questionnaire is feasible and may serve to improve documentation and overall antimicrobial stewardship.

Landraces represent valuable genetic resources for breeding programmes to produce high-yielding varieties adapted to stressful environmental conditions. Although the common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) is an economically important food legume for direct human consumption worldwide, common bean production in Croatia is based almost exclusively on landraces and there is no common bean breeding program. Information on phaseolin type and results of population structure and genetic diversity obtained by analysis of SSR and SNP markers, in combination with the morphological characterization of 174 accessions of 10 common bean landraces (morphotypes), enabled thorough classification of accessions. The accessions were classified into phaseolin type H1 (“S”) of Mesoamerican origin and phaseolin types H2 (“H” or “C”) and H3 (“T”) of Andean origin. By applying distance- and model-based clustering methods to SSR markers, the accessions were classified into two clusters at K = 2 separating the accessions according to the centres of origin, while at K = 3, the accessions of Andean origin were further classified into two clusters of accessions that differed in phaseolin type (H2 and H3). Using SNP markers, model-based analysis of population structure was performed, the results of which were consistent with those of SSR markers. In addition, 122 accessions were assigned to 14 newly formed true-type morphogenetic groups derived from three different domestication events: (1) Mesoamerican (H1A) (“Biser”, “Kukuruzar”, “Tetovac”, “Trešnjevac”), (2) Andean—indeterminate type (H2B1) (“Dan noć”, “Sivi”, “Puter”, ”Sivi prošarani”, “Trešnjevac”) and (3) Andean—determinate type (H3B2) (“Bijeli”, “Dan noć”, “Puter”, “Trešnjevac”, “Zelenčec”). The rest of the accessions could represent putative hybrids between morphogenetic groups. The differences between the true-type groups of accessions were further analysed based on nine quantitative traits, and the subsets of traits that best distinguish among centres of origin (A: Mesoamerican, B: Andean) and genetic groups (H1A, H2B1, H3B2) were proposed.

We consider a large decentralized freelance platform where buyers with private information about their quality preferences are matched with freelancers that differ in quality. When posting their job requests, buyers can report their quality preferences via cheap talk, which influences freelancers’ application and pricing strategies. By exaggerating one’s quality preference, a buyer attracts not only more applications from freelancers, but also those with higher quality, at the cost of a higher expected price. We find that it is always an equilibrium for the buyers to report their quality preferences truthfully when they cannot renegotiate with freelancers on their asking prices after getting matched. On the other hand, when postmatch renegotiation is allowed and buyers have relatively high bargaining power, low-type buyers may strategically exaggerate their quality preferences, and subsequently after getting matched, costly signal their true type and bargain for lower prices. From a platform design perspective, our analysis implies that the option of renegotiation, designed to facilitate postmatch information transmission, may backfire by giving rise to buyers’ prematch opportunistic behaviors of information distortion. The paper considers a voting model where each voter's type is her preference. The type graph for a voter is a graph whose vertices are the possible types of the voter. Two vertices are connected by an edge in the graph if the associated types are “neighbors.” A social choice function is locally strategy‐proof if no type of a voter can gain by misrepresentation to a type that is a neighbor of her true type. A social choice function is strategy‐proof if no type of a voter can gain by misrepresentation to an arbitrary type. Local‐global equivalence (LGE) is satisfied if local strategy‐proofness implies strategy‐proofness. The paper identifies a condition on the graph that characterizes LGE. Our notion of “localness” is perfectly general. We use this feature of our model to identify notions of localness according to which various models of multidimensional voting satisfy LGE. Finally, we show that LGE for deterministic social choice functions does not imply LGE for random social choice functions.
