The scientific article is devoted to the study of general theoretical aspects of the category “legal technique”, which is conditioned by the problem of the modern Ukrainian legislation improving and bringing it to conformity with the requirements of international standards. The author considered the issue of active development of the legal system of Ukraine, impact of the processes of globalization and integration on it, as well as renovation of the content of some state-legal phenomena, which actualizes the improvement of rule-making and law enforcement. Taking into account the analysis of the degree of efficiency and quality of legal technology in modern conditions, it should be noted that there is no sufficient scientific research of this issue by legal scholars in modern legal science. The problem of studying and analyzing the essence of legal technique is of great interest among scientists in different legal spheres and plays an important role in improving lawmaking in general. In connection with this, the issue of search for means of increasing the efficiency of legal activity is quite topical in modern legal science. The aim of the study is to analyze various aspects of legal technique in modern legal science and elicit problems of its improvement in the context of globalization and integration processes. It has been ascertained that legal technique plays an essential role in ensuring the effectiveness of law and strengthening legality. Complete and correct use of all means and methods based on elaborated rules of legal technique provides an accurate expression of the content of legal acts, their simplicity and possibility of their most rational use in practical work. The level of legal technique is one of the indicators of the level of legal culture in the country. The need for full and thorough use of legal technique, expressing the advanced experience of legislation and progressive recommendations of science, is an objective principle that allows one to avoid certain negative consequences, costs and shortcomings in the form of law.

В статье рассматривается проблема адекватности грамматической системы латинского языка ее использованию в медицинской терминологии. Актуальность темы обусловлена когнитивно-коммуникативным подходом к анализу материала. С появлением когнитивных исследований термин предстает не как застывшее образование, но как представляемый чувственно и мыслительно воспринимаемый объект. В его основе лежит концепт, квант структурированного знания. Научная новизна исследования заключается в анализе роли латинской грамматики в процессе формирования медицинской терминологии коллективным адресантом, гуманистами эпохи Возрождения. Сущность системы латинского склонения имен существительных состоит в присоединении к различным основам сравнительно небольшого числа падежных окончаний, сходных для ряда склонений. Номинации в процессе коммуникации осуществляются общими процессами и принципами. Склонение I и II групп имен прилагательных дифференцировано в зависимости от того, на какие типы склонения имен существительных они ориентированы. Термины-словосочетания рассматриваются в аспекте межуровневого взаимодействия морфологии и синтаксиса. Имея четкую когнитивную и коммуникативную направленность, термины-словосочетания отличаются строгой семантической, морфологической и синтаксической структурой. Особенности грамматической системы латинского языка обусловливают в медицине легкость восприятия, глубину понимания адресатом и быстроту его реакции в процессе профессиональной коммуникации. The paper discusses the problem of the adequacy of the grammatical system of the Latin language in medical terminology. The relevance of the topic is due to the cognitive-communicative approach to the analysis of the material. Anthropocentrism, with its focus on the intelligent human being, necessitated a review of the terminology and interpretation of the term as a word limited by its special purpose and an unambiguous and accurate expression of the concept. With the advent of cognitive research, the term appears not as a ‘frozen’ formation, but as a sensually and mentally perceived object. It is based on the concept, a “quantum” of structured knowledge. However, stepping from the field of a common language the language of medicine, the word presenting the concept becomes the name of the concept, expressing medical reality as a term. The scientific novelty of the study is to solve the problem of the formation of medical terminology based on the system of the Latin grammar, morphology and syntax by the collective addressee, humanists of the Renaissance. For medical terminology, two parts of speech are chiefly required for professional purposes: nouns and adjectives. The essence of the Latin declension system of the noun consists in attaching a relatively small number of case endings to various stems, with some endings shared by different declinations. The process of nomination is guarded by general principles. Adjectives are divided into two groups. The first and second declension of adjectives is differentiated depending on the declension of nouns they modify. Phrase terms are considered in the inter-layer interaction of morphology and syntax. There is special attention to psychosystematics, which puts forward the concept of linguistic virtuality — the repository in our thinking in terms of concepts (cogitative algorithms for the formation of words as parts of speech) (G. Guillaume, L. M. Skrelina) before their use in speech (small syntax). With a clear cognitive and communicative orientation, phrase terms are distinguished by a formal semantic, morphological and syntactic structure. In medicine, the peculiarities of Latin grammar facilitate perception, contribute to the depth of understanding by the addressees and the speed of their reaction in the process of professional communication

Symbolic regression (SR), as a special machine learning method, can produce mathematical models with explicit expressions. It has received increasing attention in recent years. However, finding a concise, accurate expression is still challenging because of its huge search space. In this work, a divide and conquer (D&C) scheme is proposed. It tries to divide the search space into a number of orthogonal sub-spaces based on the separability feature inferred from the sample data (dividing process). For each sub-space, a sub-function is learned (conquering process). The target model function is then reconstructed with the sub-functions according to their separability patterns. To this end, a separability pattern detecting technique, bi-correlation test (Bi-CT), is also proposed. Note that the sub-functions could be determined by any of the existing SR methods, which makes D&C easy to use. The D&C powered SR has been tested on many symbolic regression problems, and the study shows that D&C can help SR to get the target function more quickly and reliably.

The ABA-INSENSITIVE 4 transcription factor is key for the regulation of diverse aspects of plant development and environmental responses, including proper perception of hormonal and nutritional signals. ABI4 activity is highly regulated at the transcriptional and post-transcriptional levels leading to precise expression mainly in the developing seed and early seedling development. Based on genetic and molecular approaches in the current study we provide new insights into the central mechanism underpinning the transcriptional regulation of ABI4 during both seed and vegetative development. We identified a complex interplay between the LEC2 and ABI3 transcriptional activators and the HSI/VAL repressors that is critical for proper ABI4 expression. Interestingly, the regulation by these proteins relies on the two RY cis-acting motifs present two kb upstream of the ABI4 gene. Our analysis also shows that the chromatin landscape of the ABI4 loci is highly dependent on the LEC2 and HSI2/VAL proteins. LEC2 regulation extends to the vegetative development and the absence of this factor results in ABA- and sugar-insensitive signaling in the developing plant. This regulatory circuit functions as a major control module for the correct spatial-temporal expression of ABI4 and prevents its ectopic accumulation that is harmful to the plant.

Nested protein-coding genes accumulated throughout metazoan evolution, with early analyses of human and Drosophila microarray data indicating that this phenomenon was simply due to the presence of large introns. However, a recent study employing RNA-seq data uncovered evidence of transcriptional interference driving rapid expression divergence between Drosophila nested genes, illustrating that accurate expression estimation of overlapping genes can enhance detection of their relationships. Hence, here I apply an analogous approach to strand-specific RNA-seq data from human and mouse to revisit the role of transcriptional interference in the evolution of mammalian nested genes. A genomic survey reveals that whereas mammalian nested genes indeed accrued over evolutionary time, they are retained at lower frequencies than in Drosophila. Though several properties of mammalian nested genes align with observations in Drosophila and with expectations under transcriptional interference, contrary to both, their expression divergence is not statistically different from that between unnested genes, and also does not increase after nesting. Together, these results support the hypothesis that lower selection efficiencies limit rates of gene expression evolution in mammals, leading to their reliance on immediate eradication of deleterious nested genes to avoid transcriptional interference.

В исследовании на основе эскизов костюмов для постановок пьесы «Снегурочка» А. Н. Островского выявляются основные тенденции эволюции образа главной героини на протяжении последней четверти XIX в. Художественное изучение эскизов русских художников-станковистов этого периода и обращение к результатам исследований в области истории народного и сценического костюма, этнографии, биографическим изысканиям позволило рассмотреть изменение облика костюма Снегурочки от первых постановок пьесы (1873) до врубелевского воплощения (1890). Анализируемый образ развивался путем отказа от «художественного подхода», присущего русскому академизму (М. Клодий), последующего обращения к интерпретации В. М. Васнецова, в которой Снегурочка оказалась наиболее точным выражением идеала русской красоты, а затем – к народной романтизации, проявившейся в эскизах Н. К. фон Бооля и М. А. Врубеля. Трактовка В. М. Васнецова установила новый «сказочный канон», сохраняемый в театральном и киноискусстве до сих пор. The aim of the study is to identify the ways and features of the transformation of the fairytale image of the Snow Maiden (the main heroine of the play of the same name by Alexander Ostrovsky) in the conditions of the Russian stage of the late 19th century. The work was carried out on the basis of sketches of stage costumes created by Russian easel painters of the late 19th century. Other important sources were studies in the field of the history of Russian painting and scenography, the history of folk and stage costumes, ethnography; biographical research on Viktor Vasnetsov; Ostrovsky’s diaries. The core of the research was an evolutionary approach, which eventually made it possible to achieve the aim of the study. A comparative historical method was used for discovering the similarity between the motives reflected in the images of the Snow Maiden in the analyzed sketches and Russian folk ornaments of the 19th century that decorated the traditional costumes of Russian peasant women. In the course of the study, the appearance of the Snow Maiden’s costume was analyzed. From how it was shown in the sketches for the first productions of Ostrovsky’s play in the Bolshoi and Maly Theaters (sketches by M. P. Klodt) to the image of the heroine captured in the relief drawing by Mikhail Vrubel. Particular attention was paid to Vasnetsov’s interpretation, in which the image was successfully correlated with the traditional motives that existed in the folk ornament and embroidery of the Russian North. The characteristic features of the image of later authors (Nikolay von Bool and Mikhail Vrubel) were revealed. The later incarnations of the image were studied (for example, in Soviet cinema at the end of the 20th century). It has been established that a sketch of a stage costume solves the problem of the structure of the embodied image, it is an illustration of the author’s artistic beliefs and (in the case of reaching a certain level of artistic perfection) is a guideline for determining the technology of creating a costume. It has been determined that sketches made by old masters of Russian theatrical costume have a special artistic value and expressiveness. The leader among the masters, according to the author, is Vasnetsov, the creator of the authentic, perfect graphics of the Russian folk costume. The image of the Snow Maiden on the Russian stage of the late 19th century developed from the “artistic approach” characteristic of Russian academism and implemented in the works of M. P. Klodt to the most accurate expression of the ideal of Russian beauty embodied by Vasnetsov and further towards popular romanticization (von Bool and Vrubel).

The article analyses the use of Russian archaic subordinate conjunctions «кабы», «коли», «дабы», «бо», «ибо» in modern journalistic texts concerning the relevance of their use. The research is carried out as a part of the study devoted to the expression of conditionality relationships through complex sentences in the bookish style, a journalistic one, in particular. The sources used in the study consist of printed and online books, as well as periodicals and magazines publishing ana-lytical articles, essays, reports, and interviews on issues of public interest. The author assumes that the choice of atypical linguistic means should be considered as an indicator of the language flexibility, its settings for the most accurate expression of meaning and a specific communication situation. By the analysis of concrete examples, it is shown that the use of archaic conjunctions correlates with the basic functions of a journalistic style (informational, educa-tional, evaluative, incentive, influencing ones), thereby its use is stylistically jus-tified. Journalists resort to these means of conjunction to convey someone’s speech with the aim of marking a high style, adding a historical, dialectic con-notation, a playful or ironic tone.It is noted that unproductive archaic conjunctions are primarily used in their main etymological meaning, while the field of their meanings in dialects and colloquial speech is expanding. In this way, an organic combination of the elements of bookishness and colloquiality is historically inherent in the Russian literary language, which is most clearly manifested in journalism.Attention is drawn to the fact that the study of archaic vocabulary and the appropriateness of its use is of interest with regard to developing and pre-serving the richness and variability of the language, especially in modern condi-tions of standardization, simplification, and unification of languages in general and the Russian language in particular.

AbstractMost developmental genes rely on multiple transcriptional enhancers for their accurate expression during embryogenesis. Because enhancers may have partially redundant activities, the loss of one of them often leads to a partial loss of gene expression and concurrent moderate phenotypic outcome, if any. While such a phenomenon has been observed in many instances, the nature of the underlying mechanisms remains elusive. We used thePitx1testbed locus to characterize in detail the regulatory and cellular identity alterations following the deletionin vivoof one of its enhancers (Pen), which normally accounts for 30 percent ofPitx1expression in hindlimb buds. By combining single cell transcriptomics and a novelin embryocell tracing approach, we observed that this global decrease inPitx1expression results from both an increase in the number of non- or low-expressing cells, and a decrease in the number of high-expressing cells. We found that the over-representation ofPitx1non/low-expressing cells originates from a failure of thePitx1locus to coordinate enhancer activities and 3D chromatin changes. The resulting increase inPitx1non/low-expressing cells eventually affects the proximal limb more severely than the distal limb, leading to a clubfoot phenotype likely produced through a localized heterochrony and concurrent loss of irregular connective tissue. This data suggests that, in some cases, redundant enhancers may be used to locally enforce a robust activation of their host regulatory landscapes.

The accurate expression of bracket prescription is important for successful orthodontic treatment. The aim of this study was to evaluate the accuracy of digital scan images of brackets produced by four intraoral scanners (IOSs) when scanning the surface of the dental model attached with different bracket materials. Brackets made from stainless steel, polycrystalline alumina, composite, and composite/stainless steel slot were considered, which have been scanned from four different IOSs (Primescan, Trios, CS3600, and i500). SEM images were used as references. Each bracket axis was set in the reference scan image, and the axis was set identically by superimposing with the IOS image, and then only the brackets were divided and analyzed. One-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used to compare the differences. The difference between the manufacturer’s nominal torque and bracket slot base angle was 0.39 in SEM, 1.96 in Primescan, 2.04 in Trios, and 5.21 in CS3600 (p < 0.001). The parallelism, which is the difference between the upper and lower angles of the slot wall, was 0.48 in SEM, 7.00 in Primescan, 5.52 in Trios, 6.34 in CS3600, and 23.74 in i500 (p < 0.001). This study evaluated the accuracy of the bracket only, and it must be admitted that there is some error in recognizing slots through scanning in general.
