Photocatalytic water splitting for hydrogen generation is a significant pathway for sustainable energy conversion and production. The photocatalysts with a Z-scheme water splitting charge transfer pathway is superior due to the good separation and migration ability of photoexcited charge carriers. Herein, Co3O4/g-C3N4 photocatalysts with Z-scheme charge transfer pathway were successfully constructed by an electrostatic interaction-annealing method. The as-prepared Co3O4/g-C3N4 ultra-thin nanosheets were tested and analyzed by XRD, EA, ICP, SEM, TEM, AFM, XPS, UV-Vis DRS, PL and photoelectrochemical measurements. Moreover, the influences of fabrication parameters on performance of Co3O4/g-C3N4 catalysts were investigated, and 0.5% Co3O4/g-C3N4 exhibited the optimal activity. Based on the characterization and catalytic performance, the Z-scheme charge transfer pathway of Co3O4/g-C3N4 was established and put forward. To further improve the catalytic performance of Co3O4/g-C3N4, 0.5% Pt was added as a co-catalyst. The obtained Pt/0.5% Co3O4/g-C3N4 was recyclable and remained the original catalytic water splitting performance within 20 h. The modification of Co3O4 and Pt improved the separation and migration of e− and h+, and induced the increased hydrogen evolution rate of g-C3N4.

Abstract Using data from the 2017 European Values Study, I analyze the link between harboring traditional gender attitudes and supporting radical right-wing parties. I theorize that the intrinsically gendered elements of the radical right's platforms and rhetoric, which mirror traditional masculinity and femininity in both explicit and implicit ways, make the ideology a comfortable home for individuals who hold traditional gender attitudes. My analyses reveal that gender traditionalists are more likely than egalitarians to express support for the radical right, even after controlling for a host of existing explanations. The same impact is not replicated for mainstream conservative parties. In addition, holding more gender-traditional attitudes raises the probability of supporting the radical right among both nativists and non-nativists. These findings provide important evidence that gender attitudes seemingly constitute a significant pathway to support for the radical right across Europe.

Abstract Rice is consumed by nearly half of the global population and a significant source of energy and nutrients. However, rice consumption can also be a significant pathway of inorganic arsenic (iAs) exposure, thus requiring a risk–benefit assessment. This study assessed nutrient element (NE) densities in fifty-five rice types (white, brown and wild rice) marketed in the UK. Densities of essential NE were used to rank rice types in meeting daily NE targets under different consumption scenarios through a newly developed optimisation approach. Using iAs data from these rice types, we assessed the margin of exposure (MOE) for low (the UK) and high (Bangladesh) rice intake scenarios. Our results showed that brown and wild rice are significantly higher in many NE and significantly contribute to dietary reference value (DRV). Our modelling showed that switching to brown or wild rice could increase the intake of several essential nutrients by up to eight times that of white rice. Using rice consumption data for mid-to-high-consumption countries, we estimate that brown rice could provide 100 % adult DRV for Fe, Mg, Cr, P and Mo, and substantial contributions for Zn, Se and K. Our results show that the amount of rice primarily determines risk from iAs consumed rather than the type of rice. Therefore, switching from white to brown or wild rice could be beneficial, provided iAs concentration in rice is within the recommended limits.

Background: The contribution of metabolic profile to the cerebral collateral circulation in acute ischemic stroke (AIS) has not been fully outlined. In this study, we conducted a metabolomic study to assess the relationship between the metabolic biomarkers and the collateral status of AIS.Methods: A two-stage study was conducted from September 2019 to June 2021 in our hospital. There were 96 subjects including 66 patients with AIS and 30 healthy controls in the discovery stage and 80 subjects including 53 patients with AIS and 27 healthy controls in the validation stage. Collateral circulation was assessed by the Tan score based on computed tomographic angiography (CTA). Liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry was used to identify differential metabolic markers. Then, an ELISA was employed to detect the plasma levels of sphingosine-1-phosphate (S1P).Results:There were 114 differential metabolites between patients with AIS and control groups and 37 differential metabolites between good collateral circulation (GCC) and poor collateral circulation (PCC) groups. The pathway enrichment analysis revealed that arginine biosynthesis was the only statistically significant pathway between AIS and control groups and sphingolipid metabolism was the only statistically significant pathway between GCC and PCC groups. The differential metabolites sphinganine-1-phosphate (SA1P) and S1P belong to the sphingolipid metabolism. In the discovery stage, when the GCC group was compared with the PCC group, the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis showed that plasma SA1P relative levels demonstrated an area under the curve (AUC) of 0.719 (95% CI: 0.582–0.834), and S1P levels demonstrated an AUC of 0.701 (95% CI: 0.567–0.819). In addition, both plasma SA1P and S1P relative levels showed significant negative correlations with the 90-day modified Rankin Scale (mRS) score. In the validation sample, higher plasma S1P levels were independent predictors of GCC (p = 0.014), and plasma S1P levels demonstrated an AUC of 0.738 (95% CI: 0.599–0.849) to differentiate patients with GCC from patients with PCC. In addition, plasma S1P levels also showed significant negative correlations with the 90-day mRS score. Conclusion: We first illustrated the association between plasma metabolic profiles and cerebral collateral circulation in patients with AIS. Plasma S1P levels might be a potential diagnostic biomarker for predicting collateral circulation status in patients with AIS.

Psoriasis is the most common and chronic skin disease that affects individuals from every age group. The rate of psoriasis is increasing over the time in both developed and developing countries. Studies have revealed the possibility of association of psoriasis with skin cancers, particularly non-melanoma skin cancers (NMSC), which, include basal cell carcinoma and cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (cSCC). There is a need to analyze the disease at molecular level to propose potential biomarkers and therapeutic targets in comparison to cSCC. Therefore, the second analyzed disease of this study is cSCC. It is the second most common prevalent skin cancer all over the world with the potential to metastasize and recur. There is an urge to validate the proposed biomarkers and discover new potential biomarkers as well. In order to achieve the goals and objectives of the study, microarray and RNA-sequencing data analyses were performed followed by network analysis. Afterwards, quantitative systems biology was implemented to analyze the results at a holistic level. The aim was to predict the molecular patterns that can lead psoriasis to cancer. The current study proposed potential biomarkers and therapeutic targets for psoriasis and cSCC. IL-17 signaling pathway is also identified as significant pathway in both diseases. Moreover, the current study proposed that autoimmune pathology, neutrophil recruitment, and immunity to extracellular pathogens are sensitive towards MAPKs (MAPK13 and MAPK14) and genes for AP-1 (FOSL1 and FOS). Therefore, these genes should be further studied in gene knock down based studies as they may play significant role in leading psoriasis towards cancer.

Abstract. In-cloud chemistry has important ramifications for atmospheric particulate matter formation and gas-phase chemistry. Recent work has shown that, like hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), the two main isomers of isoprene hydroxyl hydroperoxide (ISOPOOH) oxidize sulfur dioxide dissolved in cloud droplets (SO2,aq) to sulfate. The work revealed that the pathway of SO2,aq oxidation with ISOPOOH differs from that of H2O2. We investigate the chemical mechanisms of oxidation of SO2,aq with ISOPOOH in the cloud-relevant pH range of 3–6 and compare them with the previously reported mechanisms of oxidation of SO2,aq with H2O2, methyl hydroperoxide and peroxyacetic acid. The organic products of the reaction are identified, and two pathways are proposed. For 1,2-ISOPOOH, a higher yield pathway via proposed radical intermediates yields methyl vinyl ketone (MVK) and formaldehyde, which can react to hydroxymethanesulfonate (HMS) when SO2,aq is present. A lower yield non-fragmentation oxygen addition pathway is proposed that results in the formation of isoprene-derived diols (ISOPOH). Based on global simulations, this mechanism is not a significant pathway for formation of MVK and formaldehyde relative to their gas-phase formation but, as previously reported, it can be regionally important for sulfate production. The study adds to previous work that highlights similarities and differences between gas-phase and cloud-droplet processing of reactive organic carbon.

Abstract This study aims to build a destination marketing conceptual model to bridge the research gap concerning managing a destination service-scape quality for enhancing destination loyalty. The convenience sample data were collected from an unknown population of Indonesian domestic tourists who visited tourist destinations in Indonesia. Data were analysed using AMOS SEM Software. The findings demonstrate the significant impacts of destination servicescape quality on destination authentic value advantage. The research findings resulted in a complete significant pathway to enhancing loyalty by mediating an authentic destination advantage through destination congruence. This study is evidence for the application of SDL-Service Dominant Logic Theory. The possibility of enhancing an authentic value experience superiority would be a strategic process for achieving any level of destination congruence as a step towards creating and sustaining loyalty. Destination planning could consider crafting the hardscape and soft-scape of a destination equally. A company should provide services that encourage positive emotions as the basis for building congruency. The originality of this study is the concept of destination servicescape quality with two new dimensions of destination service, hard-servicescape and soft-servicescape, and the development of destination authentic value advantage for enhancing authentic value advantage.
