This study aimed to explore the language difficulties faced by English diploma students and provide solutions to overcome them. The data collected in the form of a questionnaire administered to 39 female students were compared in percentages for closed – ended questions and thematically for open-ended ones. Results showed that diploma students struggled with listening, speaking and reading’s higher cognitive skills such as guessing the meaning from context and reading between the lines. In addition, tenses, question formations, and reported speech were the most difficult grammatical points for them. These challenges were attributed to the institutional, dispositional, situational, academic, and pedagogical barriers faced by students as adult learners resulting mainly from the students’ study gaps and their lack of contact with the English language. Solutions included the use of more varied activities and up -to -date interesting reading passages, more practice of listening and speaking inside and outside classrooms, and having a placement test before joining the diploma program.

In this article, we explained to take a look at the meaning of allusion and how it can be used in both day to day conversation as well as how it can be used in literature. We enforced this understanding by taking a look at some examples of how allusion can be used in both of these contexts. In most cases, allusion is used to divert the mind to something which is not within the general context of the current conversation and is often left to the imagination of the listener or reader to create the reference for themselves. When used in writing, an allusion can make a piece appear less bland and much more artful creating a more interesting reading experience. Allusion can be used in both a conversational context or within written work as a literary device. Key words: allusion, literary, mythical, figure of speech, reader, historical

In order to build a book loving campus, National Feng Yuan Senior High School has organized many reading programs. In these programs, we divide teachers, students and their parents into several study groups. After numerous meetings, it is found that with well-planned guidance, these reading programs help them not only actively to participate in group discussion and exchange ideas but also to broaden their horizons and develop multiculturalism. This paper intends to share our experience and strategies in the implementation of the whole reading programs. The first section is a detailed introduction to the procedures of the reading programs, including how to organize study groups, train the study group leaders, help students make reports and performances, hold contests and publish students' results. In the second section, the actual operation of parent study group is described. At the end, we examine all the achievements from these activities, and make some recommendations. In addition, we are firmly convinced that schools, families, and the society are an undivided union. If we can incorporate community resources into reading programs, we can surely create a well-structured and comfortable reading environment. We provide this experience of building a book loving campus to the public, and sincerely hope to eliminate the stereotyped image of reading and make vivid and interesting reading experiences blended into daily lives that everyone can enjoy.

This paper presents a brief overview of the recent literature on adaptive design of clinical trials from a Bayesian perspective for statistically not so sophisticated readers. Adaptive designs are attracting a keen interest in several disciplines, from a theoretical viewpoint and also—potentially—from a practical one, and Bayesian adaptive designs, in particular, have raised high expectations in clinical trials. The main conceptual tools are highlighted here, with a mention of several trial designs proposed in the literature that use these methods, including some of the registered Bayesian adaptive trials to this date. This review aims at complementing the existing ones on this topic, pointing at further interesting reading material.

Mental health has become a big problem in Indonesia. Adolescents are a category that is prone to stress, and is often handled inappropriately by themselves, relatives, or parents. Stress is still considered a trivial matter for most Indonesians. In fact, stress is one of the triggers for various kinds of physical and psychological ailments. The lack of interesting reading for teenagers about stress makes this phenomenon still difficult to get the first treatment before it continues to an undesirable stage. The purpose of this design is to create an illustrated book that discusses stress information with the content as simple as possible and attractive so that it is easily understood by adolescents. This design uses themethod design thinking in order to get the right problem-solving solution in designing the work. There are two media in the design, namely primary media, illustrated books, information about stress and secondary media, namely x-banners and merchandise. By designing this illustration book, it is hoped that it can become a new media choice as informative reading about stress.
